Current I did not have "Nicki Minaj getting added as a playable character in a major FPS game" on my 2023 bingo card.

I can't be the only one who feels patronized when someone calls me "buddy", right?

Word of advice: forums may not be the best place to look for significant others. Met my first girlfriend on a forum, and now I would give my left nut to forget her.

@The World

  • It's basically scan data. Collect enough scan data to create a DigiEgg.
  • None that I can think of off the top of my head, but assuming that the two Digimon are the same species, but undergo different evolutionary lines, then it's fine. For example, if your Tamer has two Salamon/Plotmon, one evolves along the Angewomon line, while the other LadyDevimon line, you're okay.
  • Jogress/DNA Digivolution is a thing, but doing so essentially takes the two consciousnesses of the Digimon and combines them into one to create a new being. While this new Digimon has the memories of its components, it's entirely possible that it will behave differently from before.
  • Firstly, we're calling them "Digimentals" to avoid any confusion. They're rare evolutionary items that can be obtained through rare drops or in-game events. These items are more or less akin to Mega Stones in the Let's Go! Pokemon games. As long as a Tamer has one in their inventory, their Digimon can access these forms.
@The World All excellent questions!
  • The way I figure, Emergence's gameplay involvws finding Digimon on the map and battling them. When a wild Digimon is defeated, a player obtains a certain amount of data from them. Eventually the accrued data can be used to create and hatch a DigiEgg. The "raising" aspect I have in mind is fairly limited, more in line with Pokemon-Amie.
  • Players in the RP may have up to two main Digimon partners to start with. However, if you want to start with two Digimon, they will be restricted to Rookie levels.
  • Given the nature of the game, a player of Digimon: Emergence may collect a certain number of Digimon; this number can be increased either through lots of patience, or using the in-game premium currency; however this is just a little flavor. For the sake of the RP, there's really no limit. These extra Digimon are kept on farm islands where they live, work, and play. That being said, there are some rumors of Digimon going missing too...
  • In Emergence, Digimon can achieve new forms from a pool of species. While in-game this is based on their stats, for the sake of the RP, I'd like to keep it to a simple rule: if there's a solid logic to the evolutionary tree, then it's likely acceptable.
@tobiax The main age range for characters is mid to late teens.

@The World Once you get around to reading it, feel free to offer suggestions.
@TheNoCoKid Glad you brought that up. Right off the bat, I wanted to incorporate two different Digivices, inspired by different anime.

Digivice SP: The Digivice SP provides a power boost to Digimon when they Digivolve. A Digimon with boosted power is roughly 20% stronger than if they had Digivolved without the use of a Digivice SP.
Digivice VB: While the Digivice VB lacks the power boosting ability of the SP, it makes up for it by being able to make use of Digital Modification (or DiM) cards to provide a Digimon with attacks and abilities that it normally wouldn't be able to use; while the attacks and abilities provided by DiM cards provide more utility, any attacks and abilities used are less powerful than normal attacks. DiM cards can be obtained by defeating different Digimon, or by purchasing them from [REDACTED].
In space, nobody can hear you RP.

Greetings to everyone! I've recently redubbed myself Big McLargehuge, but feel free to call me anything you like. I'm an anime and manga fan from the United States (CST), and I especially love science fiction and fantasy. My tastes range from military sci-fi like "Starship Troopers" and "All You Need is Kill" to slightly darker takes on the magical girl genre in a vein similar to Madoka Magica. But some quick points about me:
  • I'm a heterosexual male in my twenties who only speaks English, and I've been RPing since I was in school. I don't really care about a potential partner's gender or identity IRL, as long as they're understanding and enjoy some OoC chat and meme-sharing.
  • I find it extremely helpful if partners make use of emojis/emoticons to convey tone and intent in OoC.
  • I work four days a week, but I have other responsibilities on other days. On top of this I deal with issues that may get in the way of RPing, including depression, anxiety, and several physical issues.
  • When working on RPs, I like to make basic character sheets. However, using pictures of real people is a hard no for me, as looking people in the eye makes me incredibly uncomfortable.
  • Unless I really get to know someone on here, the odds of me adding anyone outside of here (Discord, etc.) are incredibly low. Let's just say I've made mistakes in the past that I'd rather not repeat.

So what am I looking for for RPs? Well, let's make a little list of themes that I enjoy, to start us off!
  • Romance (I love romantic subplots in RPs, but they're not necessary; in particular I prefer MxF--with me playing the M--and FxF)
  • Military science fiction (using big guns and power armor to fight giant bugs and lizard people!)
  • Magical girls (and boys, to a certain extent)
  • Monsters (I especially have a soft spot for kaiju)
  • Monster girls (Okayado-sensei is entirely to blame for this one)

Some favorite fandoms of mine:
  • Monster Hunter (would love to play as my Hunter Ryuuko)
  • Digimon (really, I love an excuse to be a character with EdgyDinodramon as a partner)
  • SAO Alternative: Gun Gale Online (really, I love the concept of GGO, and would love to play a version of GGO where people get trapped in the game; plus Sinon and Pitohui are BAE <3)
  • Jurassic Park/World
  • The art of Ari Hinoko/Kamemaru
  • More to come, ask for anything else!

I plan on fleshing this out, but I wanted to get something up and running.

If interested, please send me a PM. ^^ And, if possible, try to keep your opening PM short, and to the point.

Five years ago, the Hypnos Corporation released their highly anticipated game, Digimon: Emergence. By utilizing augmented reality and real-time GPS tracking, players could use their smartphones to track down Digimon in the real world, and battle against and alongside other players. The game quickly became a worldwide phenomenon, and Hypnos Corporation became one of the most profitable companies in the world in the span of six months. Of course, the game wasn't without its problems, but after being cooped up by global pandemic, people were looking for any excuse to get out of the house. As time went on, the bugs were ironed out, but the game still has little issues here and there.

As with any game, there have been all kinds of stories tied to it. Some are sweet, wholesome stories that were featured on the news, like "I met my husband during a boss raid!". However, other rumors and legends have been swirling around the internet.

"My Digimon said my name!"

"I saw a real Koromon in the park!"

"Guilmon stole my sandwich!?"

Most people dismiss these stories as outright lies, or guerilla marketing for the game. However many people insist that these strange stories that tie back to Digimon are true. One rumor in particular has reached the status of urban legend in the city of Tokyo after it was posted on the anonymous forum Nichannel.

I was playing D:E in the park near his school after the sun went down. My friend told me that he'd found lots of rare Digimon there, and they only came out at night. I waited for so long, but I didn't see a single Digimon on my phone. I was about to head home when I saw a glowing blue flame among the trees. I was mesmerized. Something about it seemed to want to come close to it. I drew closer to the flame, but it began moving away. I started following the fire until it came to a stop at an old shrine. Sitting there were two women in fox masks wearing outfits like shrine maidens'. They were singing in a language I didn't understand.

When their song finished, they turned to look at me. I had no idea who they were, but being near them, I felt a sense of peace. One of them, whose outfit was red, asked me a question: "Art thou a Tamer?" I was confused by what she meant, at first. The second, dressed in black, blew a smoke ring from her pipe, and said, "What my sister means is, do you play Digimon: Emergence?"

I was confused. Why would they want to know if I played a game on my phone? I simply answered, yes, and the two shrine maidens smiled. "We have a gift for you," the woman in black said. "But you must answer this question for us: do you want your Digimon to be stronger, or do you want them to have new abilities?"

"Why not both?" I asked. The two mikos chuckled, and the woman in red wagged her finger at me.

"Thou art too greedy, little boy," she chided. "Come and find us again when thine heart is purer."

There was a bright flash of light, and I covered my eyes. When I opened them again, the two mikos were nowhere in sight, and the air felt charged with electricity. I have no photos or videos to back this story up, but it actually happened. If you see the two maidens, don't make the same mistake I did.

Hypnos has made no comment on any of these stories beyond, "People have such vivid imaginations!" But are all of these accounts just stories fabricated to entertain fellow internet users? Or is there a kernel of truth to them? There's only one way to find out...

This RP has been rattling around in my brain in some form for a while now, and I'd like to try my hand at getting a small group RP running. The tone I have in mind for the RP is something along the lines of Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker's Memory, with elements from various other Digimon media, though the strongest inspirations are Ghost Game and Tamers.

I'd like a little bit more feedback on this to improve it before getting it running properly, and any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
I've come back from a hiatus, and I'd like to request a name change. The name I'd like to request is Big McLargehuge. If you know exactly which MST3K movie I'm referring to, hats off to you.
Yuri's expression dipped into a frown. At the very least, the woman hadn't assumed he was a boy like the Monitamon at the front desk. "My name is Tsuda Yuri. I'm here about the open position at this Tamer Union." She rested a hand on Kuro's head. No doubt the Digimon could sense her irritation. It was helpful that they were on the same wavelength. And yet...

She moved inside, glancing around the office. It was small, but a bit cluttered. A Taomon was helping with the work. In a pair of chairs sat a young man and his partner Digimon. What was that one again? A Lunamon? It looked so sweet and unassuming, but looks could be deceiving with Digimon, just as with people; the sweetest little Cutemon could be plotting something nasty, while the scariest Cerberumon could be nothing more than a big puppy.

Yuri took a seat in a spare chair, making sure to keep a little space between herself and the young man. Kuro sat on the floor beside her, his big green eyes following the woman intently, measuring her up. Was she friend? Foe? Snack? Kuro had to know.
Feeling better. Should have a post up soon.
Merry Christmas Happy Freeza Day!
