I'm working through some concepts. My input on matters shall be reserved until I see more of what people have in mind. I have no intention of becoming an active participant in the thread until what I have brewing is finished up.

For the time being, I ought to say simply that I hope some others come forwards and present their ideas, questions, comments or the like. Otherwise, I may find it hard to believe that there's a whole lot of interest in this succeeding.

And, for our dearest Duck, I should probably ask: How much, exactly, did you mean to be completed before we began roleplaying? To ask the rest of the thread, as well, what do you think about the balance between planning and creating things on the fly? I would not be against creating the core concepts revolving around our characters and motivations, and then filling out the rest as we go.

Maybe we should have a Titanpad or similar tool set aside for the thread's use? That way, it may be easier to compile ideas-in-progress and work together on constructing something with some semblance of continuity between the lot of us.

Eh? It seems like I'm participating in the thread, even though I said I wouldn't?

I sometimes lie.
I specialize in nonsense, but I am more than comfortable dealing with serious subject matter, so I have no real preference when it comes to the RP's tone.

We can start now.
Seems fun.
I didn't say we would be rolling dice. I meant that the characters might be aware they are in a game.

After all, the term GM was used so I took it to imply this was based off a role playing game. It's not a game without dice or some other means of random determination.

The usage of the term GM doesn't automatically mean the involvement of traditional game mechanics. This is a predominantly freeform website, so naturally it is more likely that there will not be a game system in place. Especially when the word is already widely used here in reference to the more freeform style of thread management and plot construction.

Not saying you're wrong, though. The OP not mentioning anything about mechanics doesn't automatically mean that they're not in place. I just think that your logic isn't really absolute.

One of us is looking stupid here. This didn't have to happen.
How is this role play going to deal with the fourth wall? Can the characters argue with the Narrator? (The GM)

Are the characters going to be aware of their own statistics and dice rolls?

I don't see why they would be. And this isn't a good idea.

Are we even doing dice rolls?

I like the interest! I just want to make one thing clear, to avoid confusion: this is not primarely a worldbuilding game. This is a fantasy adventure game with a dash of worldbuilding in it. I'm pretty sure you'd already figured that out, but... I wrote it anyway I guess.

So, there'll be worldbuilding then. Great.

Anyways, I have to say that I oppose the idea of "making it up as we go", at least in the more literal sense. I think that there should be at least some collaboration between players during the pre-starting phase of the roleplay to devise at least some sort of loose, initial guidance for the story direction. Otherwise, I fear it'll just be really bad and everything will fall on its face.

How generic fantasy are we talking with the basic setting? Goody Elves, Greedy Dwarves, Baddy Orcses, the suite?
I enjoy worldbuilding. Sure, I'll bite~
Y-You guys realize that ghosts aren't actually real... right?
I'm interested in this~
