Quick question: If one wanted to pursue, say, an expansion of trade with another player, it would naturally require the other player's approval. But should it first be brought up in a private discussion with said player and the conclusion later posted in a Diplomatic order, or should it be announced as part of a diplomatic order, with negotiations then commencing in a private conversation?

Whatever works for you, just make sure you state any specifics of the treaty in IC, and both players must spend a diplomatic order to enact the treaty. For example,
Kingdom of Generica Trade Pact

The Kingdom of Generica proposes a trade pact with the Generic Empire to purchase excess iron, leather, and lumber for gold not exceeding market price. The undersigned agree upon their honour to act accordingly to this agreement, and share in resources and gold for their mutual benefit. Cancelation of the pact may be enforced by any party should they feel their best interest is no longer held by aforementioned trade.

Signed,
[x] King John Doe
[] Empress Jane Doe

A reminder that orders are due this sunday, 15:00 eastern time. Tapp's on vacation, so I will be handling all the orders this round. Write your orders in a hider at the bottom of your IC. For example,

Be sure to include the name of your ruler and kingdom in your orders for easy reference. War orders and plot orders are PM'd to me, again, make sure you include your ruler's name and the name of your kingdom.

@Zendrelax The Cewri seem really cool. Shame they have died out, though it is a small comfort that their blood lives on in the reining humans. Nice IC!

@eemmtt Axium had quite the bloody rise to power. It will be interesting to see Axium continue his struggle to unify his empire should unrest spring once again. Nice IC!

The Deep Rains

The previous winter of Great Estros was mild, and an early spring dawned. With it came rains that promised a bountiful harvest. As the days went by, rain became more frequent, until one day it didn't stop. The mountains were awash in rains that caused mudslides. Entire highland villages were swept away in a tide of mud and falling cryp. The river that springs near Iro, the capital of the Irodein Empire became a flood plain, drowning the city of Caldaria and displacing many.

In Thangia, the wet season culminated in the flooding of God's Tears, and Hangman's Bay sinking parts of Bahran and Teccan. While Teccan, the capital of Thangia, suffered minor flooding, Bahran lost an entire district in a flash flood.

Dubbed the Deep Rain by small folk and doomsayers, it shows no sign of letting up.

@Tatsua Aiisen, still here?
Finished up the spreadsheet for stats - Please check your stats and ensure that everything is correct or you would like to make changes.

Also, a few of you have chosen unique races for your kingdom, how about a lore post giving us a description? Tapp and I are getting lonely in the IC tab.
Here's a statistic for population comparison: The Roman Empire, generally regarded as placing a great deal of importance of on the military, had, at its height, at most 0.5% of its population serving in the military. You guys are talking about military in the double digits, for mechant states.

Just sayin'.

Yep. Generally speaking 2% of a population is able to mobilize in times of war for feudal societies, while still being able to maintain food production at home.
It depends on the RP, but speaking for myself, I tend to gravitate toward the NRPs. When GMing an NRP, I typically do weekly updates, where the actions of players are summed in a post, with each update moving time forward by one season or a quarter year.
I tend to include an image at the beginning of my IC's. I find this sets the tone for what is to come, so I am constantly sifting through google for cool pics.
