Guinevere continued attacking the dummy, hitting it over and over again. Thoughts of the flower, of this soulmate nonsense, of Varric all faded from her troubled mind. So focused on sparring with the inanimate object, she hadn't even noticed someone sneaking up behind her. Startled, Guinevere swung her sword out to the person's neck, only to realize it was Laciel.
"... Uhm, h-hey, Guinevere, th-thought I m-might find -you here... wh-what m-might b-be troubling you th-this time?" He muttered.
"Laciel! I'm so sorry, I didn't realize it was you," Guinevere rubbed the back of her head in embarrassment and lowered her sword. Laciel already had a difficult time speaking with others, the least he needed was a sword pointed in his face. Before she could reply to his concern, Varric walked up to them.
"Ah, Laciel, you sexy hunk of man," Varric said calmly, "Fancy meeting you here. It IS good to see you! But, hey, I've got things to talk to Gwen about, if you don't mind. Now, tata, amd do please tell your mom to stop misplacing those hammers. I worry about that woman." Guinevere raised her eyebrow, why was he suddenly throwing mean comments at Laciel? Varric walked past the blacksmith and walked up to her, almost seeming like he meant to ignore Laciel on purpose. She would have to question him later.
"So, regardless of this flower business, you're my best friend. And no matter what, I want to go on adventures with you and do cool shit. And I want you to know that if destiny doesn't go the way we want, then, well, literally fuck destiny. Fuck it sideways. You're my friend. That's the important thing," Varric said, surprising Guinevere completely. She'd honestly expected Varric to never let this go. Taking a step toward him, Guinevere felt tears well up in her eyes. It was ridiculous that she had overreacted to this whole situation. A flower couldn't change their relationship, nothing could. Overwhelmed with relief, Guinevere didn't something she'd never done before and hugged Varic, only for a second before pulling away of course.
