In through your nose, out through your mouth. In through your nose, out through your mouth Sally jogged around the track over and over, her music blaring in her ears and keeping her motivated. Her lungs burned. Her legs burned. God it felt good. Her skin was covered in a sheen of sweat, and loose strands of her hair stuck to her face. Behind her, her braid bounced back and forth. The sun had started coming up over the horizon. Today was going to be a good day. It just felt like it. She didn't know why, but it just felt like it. Suddenly stopping, Sally looked at the rising sun, her chest heaving. A cough pushed its way out from her chest, and she closed her eyes, turning her face skyward. Bringing it back down, she opened her eyes again and looked over towards the institute. Yep, she was done for this morning. Pulling her phone from the waistband of her shorts, Sally checked the time. 7:35. She had been out there for nearly an hour. Long enough.
With another cough, Sally started her trek back to the institute. As she walked, she thought about what she would do today. Perhaps go for a swim? Maybe go play around in the Danger Room? She didn't know, but she'd figure it out. There was lots to do here so…
She was so into her thoughts, that she had reached the building before she knew it, and walked inside, a little dance in her step now. Her feet carried her to her dorm, where she snatched up a few dollars from her wallet and tucked those too, into the waistband of her shorts. Turning, she left her room and dance-walked down the halls toward the cafeteria. Her mind flashed to Gunnar for a moment, remembering that she owed him a coffee date. Sally smiled and shook her head. Not right now. I'm not presentable enough for that.
With her mind all over the place, and her music playing, she seemed to be getting places rather quick. At least, that's how it felt, because she walked through the cafeteria doors moments later. With that dance still in her step, Sally made her way over to the fridge, her eyes scanning over the drinks available inside. There was someone in the way though, mopping up the area in front of the fridge. Curious. Without stopping, she continued her path, the person finishing just as she got there. Sally pulled one of her buds out, dropping it.
“Be careful there,” the man said to her, motioning to the freshly mopped area. Sally met the man's warm brown eyes. “Guy came in chugging drinks like he hadn't had one in weeks. Made a mess everywhere.” He shook his head as he walked off. Sally just smiled and looked back to the fridge. Her smile grew when she saw what she was looking for. Opening the door, she snatched an energy drink, then released the handle, letting the door shut on its own. She put the bud back in her ear, took the money from her waistband, and set it on the counter.
”Just keep the change,” she said with a smile as she turned and dance-walked her way back out of the cafeteria. Sally cracked open the can, and took a long, satisfying drink, signing after she pulled the can away from her lips. ”Because when I arrive, I-I'll bring the fire. Make you come alive. I can take you higher… Let it rock, let it rock, let it rock,” She sang as she walked through the halls, heading back to her dorm. Yeah, it was time to go relax at the pool. That thing she wanted to do yesterday, but didn't get to. With another long drink, Sally suddenly wondered where everyone was, and what they were doing. Guess she'd see them when she saw them.
