Some things are just certain. Like death, taxes, and lying in the Mystery Dungeon personality tests.

Bio

No, I can't believe how little all this means to me.

I'm a long-time Roleplayer looking to do something with my life. My name is Chuuya, Chuu, or Oliver and I'm a 23 year old that lives with relatives outside Tampa. I like 2D fighting games, discovering new music on the daily, and I'm about as much of a weaboo as the next guy. At the moment, I'm currently in the middle of guerilla warfare with the roaches in my bathroom and the dumbest thing I've ever done was fly across the country for work during a national crisis. I like listening to people's problems and I sometimes think about the fanfictions that I'd like to write too. I'm also pretty good at reading people, but other than that, I'm actually pretty boring.

I don't have a preference for Roleplaying though I tend to bore very easily and get distracted by the next shiny plot that comes along. I'm open to about anything though I'm too inexperienced for smut (I have to know my partner for a minimum of a year before I feel comfortable writing it anyway). I've been Roleplaying for a little over a decade now and I'm mostly adjusted to "chat-based" Roleplays (i.e. Discord), but I'm open to new experiences. That's all I can think for now, but ask me anything and I'll be happy to share.

My best friends, @Lyly and @Tiger, also use this website.

Haha, alright. Well, welcome! I hope you can find what you're looking for on here.
That's an ominous introduction. Welcome?
@role model@Hyde@Bria The Human@Virgil we have a good number of people now, so I'd like to establish a post order. This doesn't mean that the RP is closed; if someone wants to join, they are welcome to apply. I just want to establish who is posting in what order. I already have the first post written (but not posted), so I'll go first. After that though, it really just comes down to preference, so feel free to discuss it here or in the Discord server. After that I can post the post order in the 1st or 0th (0nd? :P) post so it is visible.

I'm looking forward to seeing all of your posts, it should be fun!

I've already mentioned this in the Discord, but I'm ambivalent to where I fall in the posting order. I'll go next if nobody wants to and I'll go later in the cycle if someone wants to post before me. Not exactly helpful, I know, but I will volunteer myself to go second(?) if nobody else is offering.
I'll probably be making an official thread for this soon now that we have three people interested.

If we get a fourth, we could have our small group rescue team. I could also play NPCs and/or double up as necessary.
Application:

This is from a Roleplay that I'm currently GMing on Discord with three close friends of mine. I have written some of the lore for it here if anyone is interested in seeing how I build worlds as well. Most of the lore unfortunately need to be updated though. Also, Electric Pokemon.
When I was sixteen, I had a dream of where my missing family member was and the police found them in that location on the following day.
No worries, it took me 13 days to respond to my own post :P

I was actually considering reducing it to 18 hours, but I'm open to whatever you all think is reasonable. Personally I think 18-24 hours is good as people will be waiting for many other people before they can post. If, at the slowest, one person posts a day and there are six people in the group it would be six days between when you can post again.

Also, I am writing the OOC post now and will make a Discord server. I think it's a good way to communicate ideas about the story and get to know each other.

True and true. A different Roleplay style (from what I've seen so far) probably allows for much more flexibility in that regard. I'm looking forward to seeing the OOC and properly getting to meet all of you! Let me know if there's anything that I can do to help with formatting the OOC or whatnot (it'd be great experience anyway) and I would be happy to assist you.
Once a few other people express their interest I'll go ahead and post some character sheets and hopefully get another thread started for IC.

Sounds like a plan.
Sorry, I slept in later than usual.

Anyway, I'm glad to see that the OP returned and that we all seem to be on the same page so far. I'm not particularly picky about the setting so sci-fi, fantasy, or a mix of both works perfectly for me. I'm also in favor of a posting order and time limit though a day seems a little short (unless we make it a system where turns can be easily passed without penalty). Maybe it's doable, maybe not, I'm not really familiar with post-by-post Roleplaying just yet. I've just noticed that most of the posts here in the Casual section happen seven or eight days apart on average. Also! While I'm thinking about it, should we make a chat on Discord for OOC contact or does that feel unnecessary for this?
Where all do we want to see this come to life? Are we looking to make a thread here on the guild, or do we want to move outside this site? I've found google docs easy for collaborative writing, but I'm down to try anything that works well for the group.

Also, we should establish if anyone has any hard limits for what they're willing to write about. I personally am not a huge fan of graphic torture scenes or gore, but as long as there's a sufficient warning or clear indications of a start point and end point, I can just skip over anything I'm uncomfortable with.

No hard limits here, but I'm too inexperienced to write smut and also not comfortable writing it with anyone I haven't known for at least a year. I also vote for a thread.

I'd think a forum thread would be good. It makes it clear where one person's post ends and another begins. We'd just have to have a heads-up that somebody is writing a post at a given time so we don't accidentally duplicate sections and have one writer lose their time. As for limits, I don't really have any. I've been on the internet long enough to see the nastiest shit imaginable, and I don't think we'll approach that. Haha.

Also, if we're all good with sci-fi/fantasy, we should try to narrow down the genre so we're all on the same page in terms of tone and whatnot.

Obviously, we'd need to choose between fantasy and sci-fi.

For sci-fi: Is it on earth? Space? Multiple dimensions? How advanced is the technology? Dystopian? Utopian? Are we exploring a frontier?

For Fantasy: Light-hearted adventure? Grim oppressive world? High magic? Low magic? Lots of politics? Or are we just slaying a dragon?

I will say I have one hard rule if we do a traditional fantasy setting: no guns. Guns ruin swords and sorcery for me.

+1 for forum thread.

As far as science fiction goes, I'm personally not fond of space exploration. I wouldn't mind the other options. Same for fantasy, but I do think light-hearted adventure could be a bit more fun for this kind of Roleplay. A little chance to flex comedic muscles is never bad.
