Some things are just certain. Like death, taxes, and lying in the Mystery Dungeon personality tests.

No, I can't believe how little all this means to me.

I'm a long-time Roleplayer looking to do something with my life. My name is Chuuya, Chuu, or Oliver and I'm a 23 year old that lives with relatives outside Tampa. I like 2D fighting games, discovering new music on the daily, and I'm about as much of a weaboo as the next guy. At the moment, I'm currently in the middle of guerilla warfare with the roaches in my bathroom and the dumbest thing I've ever done was fly across the country for work during a national crisis. I like listening to people's problems and I sometimes think about the fanfictions that I'd like to write too. I'm also pretty good at reading people, but other than that, I'm actually pretty boring.

I don't have a preference for Roleplaying though I tend to bore very easily and get distracted by the next shiny plot that comes along. I'm open to about anything though I'm too inexperienced for smut (I have to know my partner for a minimum of a year before I feel comfortable writing it anyway). I've been Roleplaying for a little over a decade now and I'm mostly adjusted to "chat-based" Roleplays (i.e. Discord), but I'm open to new experiences. That's all I can think for now, but ask me anything and I'll be happy to share.

My best friends, @Lyly and @Tiger, also use this website.

@Hyde Hmmm, maybe! Might keep it to just players, but if you want to stay in the know I can just chat with you!

Rude. That's completely understandable. I'll definitely be interested in hearing updates and I'll probably read from the forums at the very least.
Hi, I'm Hyde and I'm here to probably watch this Roleplay.
I don't think forum roleplaying is dying down or anything close to it. If anything, the time people can devote to it is dropping, but that's probably because they're becoming less available. Regardless, I think the hobby itself remains alive.

This is partially the conclusion that I've come to as well. I feel like 1x1, Casual, and Advanced are active for the most part with Roleplays that have been ongoing for months or even years. I've noticed that some categories are a little less active than others, however, with Arena coming to mind. I figured that maybe combat Roleplay has begun to die down a little itself, but I've been dipping over to Iwaku and RPNation on the side with both appearing to be a bit on the slow side as well (especially Iwaku). It were these observations that got me thinking about this topic because I don't necessarily think that it's a Guild-related issue at all. Now I'm just not sure at all and I was wondering if anyone else had their own theories on it.
And no problem though you're always welcome @Hyde!

I'm joining the Discord anyway. I mean. . Can I join the Discord anyway, ma'am?
Topic says all.

I'm curious to hear what others think regarding this matter. For clarification, I'm not accusing any specific website of slowing down, stagnating, or dying. I do feel like, however, I clearly remember times when Roleplaying on forums across the internet was a bit more active. I'm not sure where the shift has gone, but is there anyone else who feels that Roleplaying on forums is becoming less and less popular as time progresses? If so, do you have any theories as to why this is? My best guess is Discord, personally, as I've seen plenty of dice games, for example, switch over to it. My other guess is that many active Roleplayers usually become busy with life which is doubly true nowadays considering the state of the world. It's hard to say for certain, however, and if this actually a trend or just the perspective of one person.

Even still, I'm curious where others lie on this matter. Anyone out there have any thoughts on this?
I'm glad that you managed to finish it. I'll quietly watch from afar though I really don't know if I can commit. It's such a cool concept though.
Is there a place here where I can get tips on casual/more advanced writing? I had the Idea to just check a few of the public roleplays and see how they do it, but I thought I'd ask just in case I'm missing something set up for this

I can't think of any specific places to find tips or advice, unfortunately. Most of it tends to be trial and error as it were. You might be able to find some ideas in this section here though. Some of the guides here really saved my life when I was just getting started. Good luck!
Good question. For now probably just things within my comfort zone, somewhat fast-paced and matching my general interests. I probably just can't do a large post one time a day (or something akin to that) for now. Maybe I will get into it, maybe not. I'm actually very open to things, but relatively passive.
Since I've never done anything with people I don't personally know I'm not sure what exactly to expect. So far it's been quite pleasant

It's good to hear that it's been pleasant so far. We have quite a few sections with a variety of Roleplays though some are more active than others. You can start by taking a look at interest checks to see what grabs your attention: Free, Casual, Advanced, Nation, Tabletop, 1x1, Arena, and General. I hope that you're able to find what you're looking for at the end of the day and please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions. Most of us are pretty friendly and usually happy to help however we can.
Welcome to the Guild, @BlondeGunship. Good on you for pushing your limits of shyness to post this and I can say for certainty I've met other users here that suffer from that introversion as well, myself included. What kind of Roleplays are you looking to write while on here?
Feeling too stressed.
