The problem is that in KH being a keyblade wielder is the highest position somebody could have, unless I play a Nobody that created it's own heart over time or something there is no way any random character could match a key-wielder in power.

Just a note about this: Dream Drop Distance (the 3DS game) confirms that Nobodies just kind of screw around a bit before regaining their hearts over time. It's not really clear how, but most of Organization XIII regain their hearts and return to their former selves during the first act of Dream Drop Distance
I'm up for playing someone who doesn't have or even want a keyblade. I'm thinking of playing a gunslinger of some description who takes the fight to the Heartless to avenge their dying/dead world. Think this would fit in the theme of the game?

Edit: on the subject of Keyblades becoming meaningless, just keep in mind that there is a canon location called the Keyblade Graveyard that literally contains thousands of Keyblades from deceased Keyblade wielders. There was a point in the history of Kingdom Hearts where there were literally thousands of these people and there was even an academy to teach their use. Yen Sid (the sorcerer from Fantasia) taught at this school, so it's not a stretch to assume that Sora and pals reopened it after defeating Xahanort.

~sigh~ out of all the possible mech references you could make. you make the one that is probably the WORST for actual mech RP's and keeping things balanced? please tell me you are being sarcastic.

You make a good point in that Guren Lagan is HORRIBLY OP, but you should also take into account that Guren Lagan isn't really a mecha anime: it's just pure, undiluted fun in a visual medium.
I'm sorry, but I will be unable to play in this game. My schedule got busier than I thought it would and I figure it's best to just bow out of this before I get myself entangled in the plot. I hope you all have a great game
Sorry for taking a while to get a post up: I'm finishing up my last week of school before Spring Break, so I'm a bit busier than normal
So... how should the rest of us join in? I mean, we've got the Oda folks having a grand old time, but how should I make my entrance?
Speaking of supernatural powers, what's the word on that? Are we allowing them? Are we not? If so, how do they work?
I'd say this is definitely constructive criticism. I get where you're coming from, Reap, which is why I'm confused about what you're trying to do with this character. You're trying to go with ninja princess, which is fine, but you're trying to do warrior princess at the same time which really doesn't fit the dynamic. Either you attack from the shadows and slit people's throats or you attack them head-on: the former makes you a ninja and the latter makes you a warrior. I might suggest taking a different angle: try going with supernatural/mystical powers instead of raw combat ability. It'd fit the theme better and it'd make your character stand out more. We've got a bunch of people who can hack each other to bits with swords, but we don't have someone who can do cool mystical stuff and slashes throats.

Just because you aren't fighting doesn't mean that there's nothing for you to do. I get the distinct feeling that there's going to be a good bit of intrigue in this game, so having someone who's really good at finding out people's secrets would make you incredibly powerful. It would be a bad idea to attack your character because doing so risks having all of your secrets revealed. That's much more fitting for the ninja princess theme.
Sounds good, though I would caution you to take a second look at ReaptheMusic's sheet. Reading over it again, it speaks more "I can do everything" than "ninja"
So, when/where do we start? I'm talking both plot-wise and real-life wise.

How many players are we waiting for? Where in-game are we going to start? Furthermore, I'm not great with Japanese history, so I would appreciate it if anyone could give me a crash course on who should be enemies with who based on clan allegiances. I'm pretty sure that the Sanadas weren't friends with the Odas, but beyond that I'm not so sure about anyone else.
