The Northern Solidarity Front
Geography and people:
|Geographical Location of the N.S.F.:| Southern Yayako is the main base of the Front.
|Cities:| Only one major city, that of Xuanshu, is held however there is a significant population in the various towns and villages of the countryside. The production is primarily focused on the war effort due to the sustained conflict in the region although a decent number of other supplementary goods are produced, particularly in the countryside towns. The main population of the region are the Kāzé, a group of people ethnically related to the Quin and the Yaar, they can be found in many regions but primarily in the West of the main Yaar population.
General Qiao:

|Name:| Qiao Gengxin
|Title:| Comrade-General
|Age:| 46
|Ethnicity:| Quin
|Personal Ideology: |Council Communist
|Influence in the faction: |17%
|Personality: | Both daring and cautious, fanatic and practical, Qiao is essentially a military man. He is an essential believer in the revolution although he does not care much for ideological specifics. From poor conditions he has risen to quite a means, administering a region and leading an army, Qiao is ambitious not merely for his own power or prestige but for his ideals, although how much those will be tattered by power is yet to be seen.
|His Virtue: |Skilled Commander Qiao has made a study of war, both in what he has read but mostly in his experience. Although he is not a student of a military academy or an overly charismatic leader, Qiao is experienced and able to make broad use of his subordinates own abilities.
|His Virtue: |PracticalQiao is often in line with the realities of the situation and so often relies more on though who can get a job done than some reason of thought alone. This means that the Solidarity Front is filled with a diverse, capable cast that may not always, or ever, agree except to follow Qiao.
|His Sin:| Poorly EducatedAlthough Qiao has risen far his birth still injures him and his abilities, something he knows and regrets. With the help of his subordinates he somewhat avoids this however this does not make the problem go away. He takes a longer time to read things than most, particularly that in which words or phrases are unfamiliar which quickly abound in non-military matters. Additionally he is not well aware of the conditions of the broader world, even those areas in Zengrav beyond his travels or well acquaintance.
|History and Background:|
Qiao Gengxin was born to a peasant family in southern Yayako in the Highlands, being a younger son of a poor family Qiao was not expected to come to much, something he hoped to avert when he traveled West to try to find extended family who lived in the cities there. He did make it there but never found his family there. Hungry and illiterate with little skills, he found his way to the army.
He found he liked it. The order and structure did well for a young man who found himself so often lost in the larger world. He did well after a relatively short while, rising to what little higher positions a commoner could have in the Imperial army. He resented that ceiling, he had learned to read and spent much his time and money on learning what he could of warfare; armies, command, equipment, everything of his new position that he could. Additionally the arrogance and incompetence of his superiors grated upon him.
This anger was what drove Qiao to first hear of and then learn from a speaker, although hiding the fact he was an imperial officer, he became a quick study of the Communist ideology preached by this man. Although he would eventually be caught and killed by Imperial authorities the speaker set Qiao on a new path. Qiao started to approach and bring into the fold, first some of his subordinates and then other commoner officers. Through this he managed to establish quite the network of spies and subordinates that stretched through the army of Southern Yayako.
When the Emperor was assassinated, Qiao acted as soon as he heard. First messengers went out to many of the noble officers, that were the least competent, in the army that he was stationed in to report to their Superior in the North for various reasons. That mostly succeeded due to the fact many common junior officers served as aides or secretaries to the nobles allowing them control over much of the communications. Sent off with the most loyal soldiers in the army left only Qiao and his revolutionaries in effective control of the army of the South.
After sufficient time gave them the chance the army revolted, stringing up the few remaining noble officers and by acclimation Qiao became ‘Comrade-General’ of the new army. Seizing control of the surrounding area and supporting revolutionaries Qiao prepared to defend the main route between the Royalists’ and the Revolutionaries’ lands.
