A young man had just exited a pub and was on his way home. His surroundings are pitch black, apart from the occasional street light here and there, and the faint glow of the moon. The man was late, having spent longer at the pub than intended. His girlfriend was probably awake still, pissed off as they had plans that night. With these thoughts flowing through his head, he didn't notice the fact he was being followed. The follower was wearing a black hooded robe, covering his face completely. His footsteps were silent, only the whisper of leaves against the ground could be heard. The first man, his mind only on arriving home quickly, then took a shortcut through a dimly lit park. That decision would become a tragic mistake.
The robed figure grinned evilly, as the foolish young man had done exactly as he had hoped. Moving silently through the park, the shadowy figure moved swiftly, to a darkened path just a little way ahead, now just biding his time, hidden in the shadows, until the hapless young man stumbled closer. Without warning, the shadowy figure struck like a snake, covering the man's mouth with a hand that was gloved in the same material as the robe. The man struggled for a moment until the figure got bored. With a swift movement, he twisted the man's head a little too far to the left, relishing the satisfying crunch of the neck breaking. He let the body drop to the floor, unconcerned as to who may stumble upon the body. Without as much as a backward glance, the shadowy figure melted, almost becoming apart of the shadows.
He stood patiently, sticking to the darkest part of the park, his black robe blending in so well. Eventually, a group of obviously drunken people appeared, walking through the park on their way home from an evening out on the town. The robed figure stayed deadly silent, his heart beating with exhilaration as the events he knew so well was about to unfold, this was almost as fun as the actual murder he combined with a song in his heart.
The group reached the pathway, where the dead young man was sprawled. The reaction times were delayed, but then suddenly a female in the group screamed, making the rest jump, asking her what was wrong. With a shaky hand, she pointed downwards to the man, and then chaos ensued.
All the group yelled and were clearly shaken, one guy with a trembling hand reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone, dialling for the emergency services, while one braver man from the group knelt down to feel for a pulse.
The robed figure chuckled to himself, and headed silently as ever away, he had seen enough, he didn't need to be here anymore and moved away unseen by anybody.
