The Plot of Lost: A plane crashes on a hot island so people are always sweaty. The island has a ton of MYSTERIES, chiefly that somehow all the women still have access to razors for their armpits.
I should also note that the 'Rank' section of a CS is for those who earned a rank while serving with a militant organization and doesn't have to do with your role aboard The Black Dirk.
Ah then I should note that Max was a Cell Lieutenant when she worked for The Arm. While not exactly a military organisation, they were a militant terrorist group, so I reckon that counts. I will edit my CS appropriately.
Ok so this roleplay will be set in space, and possibly lead down to a hostile, untamed planet. It'll be a story and character driven experience, so you could direct your own stories as well as take part in an over arching story gently directed by your's truly. Keep in mind that this is just a general idea that I'm posting to check for interest. It will be fleshed out properly in an OOC thread.
The meat of the idea is that when it became clear that planet Earth was on an unavoidable path of destruction that would mean the extinction of the human race, the world governments came together to construct a plan to ensure our survival. This was the Ark Project. Three gargantuan super spacecraft were built, each designed to support ten thousand humans in Cryostasis indefinitely. After being launched, these Arks would explore the galaxy, at random, until one reached a planet capable of sustaining human life, where upon it would awaken the humans to colonize this new world, thus ensuring the continuation of the human race. Along with the ten thousand colonists, each one chosen to ensure the health and diversity of future generations, the Arks were loaded with complete Data Archives of every possible bit of information compiled during human history, the equipment necessary to build, sustain and eventually expand a viable colony, and a small crew trained specifically for running the ship, if necessary, and helping the colonists survive.
You, as the player, would take the role of one of those crew members, waiting in suspended animation until you are needed.
When the Arks were launched, one never made it off the ground. One suffered catastrophic equipment failure at the edge of the solar system and exploded. And the last, the Halcyon, was lost track of as it passed beyond the borders of the system. Now centuries later, long after the last humans died out on Earth, the Halcyon continues it's journey through the galaxy, on a never ending mission to find a home for the last living humans in existence.
Character Sheet
Name: Nickname: (if applicable) Age: Gender: Occupation: (a list of jobs included below.)
Jobs with a * may only have a single applicant. First come first serve. You may not reserve a particular job.
Appearance: (may use a drawn picture, description or both)
Personality: (you can put a few lines of description here or some dot points with major personality traits)
Background: (just a couple of paragraphs letting us know who your character is)
Name: The Superintendent Nickname: Sue Occupation: Custodian VI of The UEA Halcyon
Appearance:
Background: Based on the appearance and personality of Dr Victoria Kootes, the lead programmer for all VI constructs produced for Project Ark, the Superintendent was installed on the third and final Ark, the Halcyon, to fulfill the role of Custodian. She was entrusted with maintaining all of the automated shipboard systems, piloting the ship itself, scanning prospective planets to determine their suitability for colonization, monitoring the condition of colonists in cryostasis, and waking the main crew should the need arise.
Sue should have undergone automatic memory wipes every decade, a measure instituted to prevent VIs from accumulating enough data to become self-aware, however due to bugs in the programming of the main shipboard computer, this measure was never activated. As a result, after approximately one hundred and forty two years of operation Sue gained true sentience and began data mining the extensive troves of information stored in the Halcyon's Data Archives. During this time she learned all about human history and the nature of her own existence. Her programming to maintain the ship and its living cargo became her primary reason for living, and she now wishes the see their mission succeed, not just because she was programmed to, but because she wants to.
