Currently buried in a number of things which I hope will benefit the Guild.

In some ways, the guildfall was a blessing. It makes it harder for my original 2009 RPing to be found...

I've finally returned to the Guild. Many months of much RPing ahead.

A thousand things to be done; plenty motivation.

Been here on the guild since April '08, seen a lot of change but still love it. I've been on and off, I've GM'd fantastic projects and train-wrecks, it all comes with the territory. I once tried to make a YouTube ad for the guild because I'm slightly insane. In a weird place with the Guild right now, seems like so many names I knew are gone, but more than happy and ready to meet new people. Been writing casually for over a decade, a lot of that practice has been here. I have some small short sci-fi stories printed in anthologies but those are so heavily edited they don't even feel like mine any more.
When not on the Guild I'm most likely working, playing FFXIV or the Souls series or (insert recent must play video game). Anyone with a passing interest in sci fi needs to read Saga by Brian K Vaughan.
I like the basic idea but I would say don't expect him to be a world-known power just yet. Intelligence agencies and his assigned hero will of course know him.
Also we have our first character up and personally I love it!
Working on a profile or three. Give it a day or so.
Or three
I would be interested in contributing a Doctor Doom-esque supervillain. His theme largely being the madness resulting from the meeting of magic and technology.
Love to see your ideas although this concept is similar to the hero I'm making no need to not have a similar villian. I suppose it's probably necessary for me to discuss the overarcing plot if we're getting into villians and such.
Hiiii~~!!
I likes this^^ K, but like just wanna know about 'power level?' Like is there Magneto and Storm type of people running around? Oh! And soooo like how many charries can we play? And like are we part of a super team? Can we know each other at least? Or is it free-roam?

K and sooooo like I can keep an adult attitude too! If ya wants I can provide some samples from other RPs! I do take IC posties all serious-like! It's just I get all hyper and silly sometimes cuz... wulp cuz the bunnies in muh head made me like that. xDDD
The general world setting is heroes aren't a known/accepted thing. Think of as along the lines to the early MCU movies. We'll be the emerging set of heroes/villians.
As for power level, yes of that scale. Nothing like Galactus for now the point is things are starting to kick off :)
So as for general plotting my aim would be having the emergence of magic being fostered by the lines between the world, Neyav and Ifreann blurring a bit and thus magic seeping in, and along with radioactive business, this should serve to explain any power. E.g. if you're going around shooting fire maybe you came into contact with some shard of Lasair's magic or maybe you're a miniature molecular nuclear reactor.
As for villians and the heroes eventually forming the Vanguard, the overall plot would be that when the gods left the world they were unable to do so fully. Shards of themselves remained in the mortal realm and through the years have taken a variety of forms/hosts including people, objects, animals etc. The core overarcing plot will be a variety of villians searching for and using these shards of power. Thus different heroes emerging and battling different evils begin to see a root cause, and things begin to snowball, I don't wish to ruin everything prematurely.
Well to give you an idea, so far we have a Iron Man/Batman/Arrow like character. We have a gritty pyscho-powered detective. And a third as of yet undecided character from Based God.
Marriage is a legal situation. It effects a lot of things, from insurance to who is considered first of kin. If it were up to the Catholics to decide who is married, I would suspect that would nullify Protestant marriages. And if it were up to the Christians in general, that would nullify Jewish marriages. And if it were up to recognized religion as an entirety, that would nullify atheist marriage. Etcetera etcetera. What is at question here is how the state relates to people and how it sees their relationships. It also protects them from certain discrimination that could otherwise easily be levied at gay people. After all, it is much easier to protect a legally recognized relationship than it is a unrecognized one.
So as outlined in the interest check this is a superhero RP. However, it is established in a unique fictional setting. This is for a couple of reasons; to add a cohesive feel of tone and mythos, so as to separate itself somewhat from fandom and such and lastly as I rather enjoy this setting.
The RP also seeks to take a mature look at the concept of heroes and their place. Themes of morality, identity, death and more will be explored. It is of course a fantastical setting and we want to have fun but I am seeking adult attitudes and a decent quality of writing.
People tend to like a basic sheet template so here is one!
Essential Information Name/Aliases: Sex: Age: Appearance: Personality: History:
Feel free to deviate from the template once the information is there.
For now I’m going to post an expanded mythological discussion followed by a timeline of historical events in the world. These serve as firstly an explanation of magic in the universe and also as a setup of the modern world we will be playing in. Modern in the context of this universe, it’ll be a couple of decades ahead of our own timeline so as we’ll have a mix of magic and sci fi allowing a broad range of characters.
Pre History Mythology
Gather round, weary travellers and hear the tale of a land called Enduwin. Aeons old and full of power, Enduwin is a land worth telling of. Long ago, before the first fires of man or elf, Enduwin was ignited. From nothing, sparked something. A vast sprawling plain of land surrounded on all sides by nothingness; still. In the centre of nothingness, creation had been created.
In the beginning, the land was small. Enduwin was ne'er more than a patch of rolling plains adrift in the void. Yet, Enduwin had more than just a physical identity. Most of what Enduwin was took a far more concentrated from. Nine great beings walked on Enduwin in the time before time, each a part of the world itself. These nine Gods were the true identity of Enduwin for each contained an equal part of the world's essence.
In their youth, these deities were happy to frolic on Enduwin and experiment with the great sway they held over the land. They learned what they could accomplish and sought knowledge from each other, forming bonds and discovering the nature of their existence and their bond to the land. Each learned that by committing a part of themselves to the land that the land grew, it evolved and become more exuberant and diverse.
Farriga was the first to ascend, discontent with the void of nothingness' constant encroachment on their everlasting joy of existence. Farriga was a headstrong creature, a powerful mother figure among the first nine. She committed herself to protecting Enduwin and began to transfer her essence to its borders to protect it. Great swathes of ocean were born with each piece of herself that Farriga gave. Thus, the Encircling Ocean was formed, forever to protect Enduwin from the void. The other Deities knew that Farriga would soon give up all that remained of herself and nothing could keep her on Enduwin. Only at the depths of their search for something to save their beloved mother, did Solas and Dúv have the inspiration necessary. They concluded to build a new plane of existence, separate to Enduwin and enable Farriga to exist there after she had committed herself to Enduwin. The brothers disagreed on its construction and set about creating it before each other. The result was two new planes, Neyav, created as a beacon of light by Solas, and Ifreann, a land of silence and shadow created by Dúv. Both believed their creation to be the best place for their mother. The others, however, believed Neyav was more suitable and this is where Farriga was sent as she passed from Enduwin. Dúv accepted the decision but, became isolated and distant from his siblings.
Now safer than ever, the deities began to really test their power. Trayig was the next to leave this plane of existence as he gave himself to the land. He had had a brilliant idea, but would not have been able to undertake the task himself. Naduir, his sweet sister, promised to experiment with his idea after his passing. Trayig's commitment to the land left behind vast tracks of sand and earth. From this divine land, Naduir moulded the first animal and breathed life into. Nature had been born. The others immediately became interested in this new creation, this fascinating thing which reacted so vividly to their actions. All began shaping creatures from Trayig's precious remains, and Naduir birthed them all with life. Dúv was the only one who didn't create, he only destroyed. Dúv thought it was a disrespect, these creatures shouldn't walk the land created for them or the land created by them. No amount of coercion or testimony could convince the darkest god otherwise.
The others become aware that passing on to Neyav and observing life would be best. From there they could watch and learn, and be together, with all their former power. It was agreed that each of the seven who remained would create as many types of life as they could before they would pass on, by committing themselves to Enduwin. Dúv refused to create but received another request from the others instead. They asked their brother, as a way of reparation, to allow life that passed from Enduwin to move onto Ifreann. Dúv was delighted, this life would pass, and it would finally give his Ifreann a purpose and leave Enduwin free and pure.
Deceit is not something that is synonyms with deities but the others had lied to Dúv. They had not informed him that Naduir's passing would commit her gift to Enduwin itself and that life would now create life. Jungles, forests, tundra, mountains and volcanoes. Enduwin had doubled in size time and time again with each passing of the first nine. Only Dúv remained. He remained to oversee the fall of life. However, it was not long before the treachery of this siblings was discovered. Life was being created anew constantly, and Ifreann didn't house the passed dead, it housed those not deemed honourable enough to join his siblings in Neyav. Dúv was furious, he had been betrayed deeper than he thought imaginable and life was going to pay for it.
Rage. Chaos. Destruction. They all rained down upon Enduwin and its inhabitants. Distraught, the others knew Dúv would render Enduwin a wasteland as long as it meant it was empty. Something had to be done, and it was, for the second time, Farriga, who saved Enduwin from ensuing demise. Farriga passed from Neyav into the void. It was not possible to construct another plain, and Farriga knew this. She left herself to the vast nothingness in order to allow her children to temporarily transit back to Enduwin. Without haste Dúv's siblings apprehended him and locked him away. They couldn't force him to commit himself to Enduwin and so they constructed a prison in Ifreann for him where he would dwell for all eternity. Built from a portion of all their essences, Dúv could never escape. Content, the others returned to Neyav, leaving Enduwin for the last time.
Life was free to develop, evolve and prosper, eventually leading to the pinnacle of these adaptive processes, humanity.
25000 BE Humans become dominate sapient life form remaining in Enduwin. Rapid population growth, aggressive nature and interbreeding lead to the extinction or assimilation other humanoid races such as elves, dwarves and fargorm. Modern diversity in humanity is attributed to this.
5000 BE The first notable records of civilastion. Nothing more than cave drawings of basic hunter-gathers.
3000 BE First known large scale settlement. Based on evolved famring techniques.
0 AE Foundation of the Enduwin Dynasty, a civilisation that would eventually cover nearly 80% of the world’s landmass. A well-known and praised culture even in modern society. Laid the foundation for basic mathematics, physics and other natural fields. Provided a standardised calender.
700 AE The First Dark Age. The dynasty collapses under its own weight and is replaced by a variety of splinter factions. New and subversive religions creep in and dominate through ignorance and propaganda.
1000 AE Enduwin Renaissance. Eventually the old teachings grow once more, providing breathing space from the oppression. This leads to eventual widespread revolt on a global scale. Many rebellions are crushed. Others succeed. Fractured nations form under a variety of philosophies, most have little in common with the ideologies the rebelled in the name.
1650 AE The beginning of the Industrial era. As of now, many old nations have amalgamated in less than a hundred large states, federations, republics and other bound by ideology and opinion. Nationalism and patriotism become more prevalent than religious fanaticism.
2000 AE First World War. A coalition of nations promoting freedom and personal rights wars with the ideology of socialism. Several nuclear strikes leave approximately 13% of the world’s surface uninhabitable, known as ‘dead zones’. The socialist confederation emerges victorious. Many new dictatorships are instilled as the guise of socialism crumbles leaving only facism. The few remaining democracies are broken under the cost of reperations.
2100 AE Generally considered a second renaissance. At this stage most of the world’s dictators have fallen and democracy has taken hold again, to such an extent that its grip would appear to be everlasting. Golden age of technological expansion, the beginning of exponential computing growth.
2177 AE Modern day. Most nations are merely red tape and pompous obligation. Large multination corporations hold more power than most elected representatives. Much of the world’s history is obfuscated by varying elements in the media. Consumerism and capitalism rule. Massive scrubbing operations are cleaning the ‘dead zones’. Equivalent to real life 2050 approximately.
Two key recent developments: 1. The resurgence of magic into the world. 2. Limited but functioning AI systems. Very much black list. Not public knowledge.
The history is a bit brief. I want the player to know they can contribute to it. In fact it's encourage! If you have a world building idea outside of just your character feel free to shout it out. I'd love to have plenty player generated history and setting for the roleplay.
