Current Currently buried in a number of things which I hope will benefit the Guild.

In some ways, the guildfall was a blessing. It makes it harder for my original 2009 RPing to be found...

I've finally returned to the Guild. Many months of much RPing ahead.

A thousand things to be done; plenty motivation.

Been here on the guild since April '08, seen a lot of change but still love it. I've been on and off, I've GM'd fantastic projects and train-wrecks, it all comes with the territory. I once tried to make a YouTube ad for the guild because I'm slightly insane. In a weird place with the Guild right now, seems like so many names I knew are gone, but more than happy and ready to meet new people. Been writing casually for over a decade, a lot of that practice has been here. I have some small short sci-fi stories printed in anthologies but those are so heavily edited they don't even feel like mine any more.

When not on the Guild I'm most likely working, playing FFXIV or the Souls series or (insert recent must play video game).
Anyone with a passing interest in sci fi needs to read Saga by Brian K Vaughan.

Yep, I'm totally fine with all that. As previously said, raw magic in this setting is best thought of as the ability to manipulate energy and matter in small quantities in one's immediate vicinity. It's essentially what all fantasy magic is, just with an explanation and toned down slightly. It all start to make sense by the end of the RP. Until then, I hope the mystery will intrigue people, once the actual plot point is outed.
@VoiD
Good method!

Everyone should feel free to begin posting guys!
They're the new cast of Scrubs.

WOW.

Scarily accurate.
@VoiD

Very typical hardy merc. It's well written and presented and a welcome addition. I don't have much to comment other than its accepted of course!
@Darkmatter
That's perfectly fine. It's part of the development of every society that certain ideas fail and other succeed. From your description of the world, with the fading of magic and the advancment in technology, it seemed only logical that there would be people who would focus on natural sciences.
If something happens that will limit that particular field (like the rise of the inquisition during the dark ages), those who chose that path will fail. If that is the fate of my character, so be it. Maybe he (and me) can adept to certain things, maybe not.
I am very curious to see how this will play out :D

You've certainly got a great attitude! Don't worry, it won't be as dire as you think.
@Somnium

A for effort then, don't beat yourself up! I'm not trying to complain and it's good you took the criticism well!
I look forward to building a story with you, and everyone else.

I will say this though, be prepared for your concept of alchemy to be challenged. The story will focus heavily on the ideas of magic and technology and how they are interpreted. I do not want to sit here and dictate a universe to anyone, that's no fun for players, I just want players to be aware, certain things will be molded to and by the plot!

Fair to say we come at it from different points of view, with different Guild experiences.

Evidently. I've had nothing but good times in my near eight years, but I can understand there being very good reason for your sentiment. Again, it's neither here nor there.

Hopefully Marrone returns soon so I can continue talking* to him.

*talking shite

You think my motivation is a desire to avoid being scrutinized? Interesting.

Very right, I messed up the wording there. Should have been, "Omit characters of mine (from any RP) and any game of mine (of any genre)."

Ah! Just a mix of words so.
I don't see any other reason to ask to not have one's writings examined other than avoiding scrutiny, but that's neither here nor there. Thankfully it was just a simple miss-wording as I have high hopes for this project of Marrone's and would hate to see some relevant RPs/topics missed. I mean, I've already volunteered one of my literary carcasses as a case study.
Okay.

Kindly omit any characters of mine or games I'm in from this.

I think I speak for @Marrone and all involved in this and related projects in that they are being done with the express intent of bettering the guild and its community. This isn't an inquisition, it's a introspective on how to better Sci Fi RP for us all. While expressing a desire to not be put under the microscope is 100% fair and understandable, is it not a bit presumptuous to ask that they refrain from looking at any RP you happen to be in? What if the GM wants it to be looked at or examined. Again, I respect the personal wish to not be scrutinized but is in not a bit presumptuous to speak for everyone you're engaged in RP with? Unless I am parsing your post wrong.
@SomniumI'll read it over breakfast!

Edit:

The character is accepted! Nice addition having an alchemist. I will say though, there were some grammar and syntax errors but that's just me being nitpicky. Just give it a quick tidy when you're done!

@ArawakThere's no template, it says in the OP as long as there's enough to get a sense for the character, then I don't mind how a CS is laid out.
