Hi guys, I saw the welcome sign up front.
I'm wondering if you guys are open to the idea of a wildcard civilisation, one that could prove to either be a help or hindrance to anyone, and can be unpredictable, all in the name of their great 'Final Plan'.
I'm thinking of a grey alien-esque kind of civilisation that used to routinely abduct humans and to a lesser extent, other species, and has decided to resume its abduction, espionage and interventionist activities after a millennium of absence caused, in part, by a previous crisis and change of leadership that favoured other kinds of pursuits.
It'd be responsible for many weird happenings and phenomenons. Here's a little teaser of what their military would be like:
- UFOs: Their standard ships, not military mainly, but are used for science missions, reconnaissance and yes, abductions, espionage and special ops. Their weapons are mostly non-lethal, and can stun both hardware and people.
- Engineered Human Ships - Humans evolved and bred for various purposes, including military. Ships piloted by these beings are the elites of the greys' military.
- 'Chapter' Ships - Humans who are bred and given simple genetic modifications, making them indistinguishable to other humans. They are descended from humans from various parts of history. They are organised along the time and space from which they are taken. So we can have fleets comprising of anachronistic WW2-styled ships of American or Japanese origin, to even fleets inspired by fiction, like Star Trek, as the Greys examine those too, having come to the conclusion that Humans value art above all else.
Their territory is such a well-kept secret that it can only be described to be a sphere of darkness in space where ships that tried to enter it would never be heard from again... Something along the lines of the Bermuda Triangle (which, in reality, isn't so dramatic, but still).
