Hidden away between tall mountains and built on the shore of the Bay of Keol lies the town of Trios (pronounced ‘Tree-os’). It's a large town famous for its gold mines. It is renowned for being the region's biggest source of gold.

However, Trios wasn't always famous. It used to be home to a band of notoriously brutal bandits. They had a fort where Trios is now located and would use boats to cross the bay and attack other towns. They made life miserable for people living around the bay, and their secluded hideout made them difficult to confront.

The bandits however didn't remain bandits. For reasons unknown they started mining in the mountains around their base, and soon they struck gold. With a few well-placed bribes their crimes were pardoned and their former hideout became a small, thriving Mining Town.
Still, the Mining Town wouldn't last because the gold veins were eventually depleted and the miners started developing strange illnesses. People soon moved away from the town and the place was deserted for a while, with the exception of a few minor households.

Then came a man named Provis. Provis's family was wealthy, having obtained a fortune through both shipbuilding and shipping, and Provis was the heir to that fortune. He enjoyed travelling and found the former mining town on one of his journeys. He promptly bought the land and decided he would return the town to its former glory.

Using his family's wealth, he set about rebuilding the town, an effort that attracted many people from the surrounding lands. Soon the renewed town was renamed Trios, and became bigger and more prosperous than it ever had been. Naturally, the biggest burst of growth took place when miners once again struck gold in the mountains surrounding Trios, creating an influx of people seeking riches and glory.

Provis, who was appropriately recognized as ruler over Trios, decided to take advantage of his stature by not merely starting five new mines, but also launching a ferry company that became the only safe way in or out of the town.

Funded by this fresh source of income, Provis constructed a grand mansion on the mountainside to the North of the town, from which he watched over his creation, Trios, as it continued to flourish and prosper.

Now, several years later, Provis is but an old man, though his influences abide nonetheless. Of the six mines in Trios that produce gold, four of them are owned by Provis. This monopoly has not only served to increase his wealth and expand the development of the town to the lavish prosperity it is today, it has also helped in the funding of an excavation that recently uncovered mysterious and ancient ruins beneath Trios.

For reasons known only to you, you have made your way to the town of Trios. Perhaps you’re there hoping to start a new life, or maybe you’re there searching for something. Perhaps you’ve heard of the mysteries of the town and want to try solving them for yourself.

Whatever your reasoning, you are on your way to the town. Aboard the large ferry - it’s closer to being a small ocean-going sailing ship than a ferry - you slowly make your way to the town.

In the distance, storm clouds are approaching. You’ll probably reach the town before the storm hits, but it’s still an unsettling sight.

As the town gets closer and closer, you get a great view of it from the ship, and its major structures easily stand out, even from this distance. From where you’re standing you can easily see the surprisingly small port and the warehouses nearby, the large church near the center of the town, and of course the large mansion with it’s grand clock tower off in the distance.

But easily the most obvious sight are the massive snow-capped mountains surrounding the town. It’s these mountains that hold the gold that Trios is so famous for, and cast a large shadow over the town each sunset.

Unfortunately, you can’t stand around and watch the town forever, as the Captain soon announces that they’ll be docking soon.

Whatever reason you had for coming to Trios, it won’t be long before you’re there.

Hello there, person!

Welcome, to the IC thread for my latest RP! As you can see, it’s set in and around the town of Trios, a secluded town with an interesting history and some mysteries as well. You get the fun task of exploring said town!

Now, as you probably noticed, the small story involves the characters starting on a ship. This, of course, is optional. If you want to arrive in a different way (or even have your character be someone who already is in Trios) just send me a PM or ask me in the OOC or whatever!

Before we can get started, however, we must discuss some potentially less-fun bits: Rules and stuff, So let’s get it out of the way. Some of these will probably be obvious, others less so.

0 - The GM has the final say in times of disagreement among players. This should be obvious but I’m listing it anyway.
1 - Please use Common Sense.
2 - If you want to hide information about your Character from others that’s okay, but ONLY if you PM said hidden information to me so I can know of it and approve it (If I don’t know about a power, your character doesn’t have said power).
3 - Two independent characters per player. If you want more, either get rid of one of the ones you already have OR PM me so we can talk about it.
4 - Certain abilities are either too Powerful or don’t fit. I’ll be listing the details in the hiders below (and I’ll be relisting them with the Character Sheets), but it’s not an all-inclusive list, as I could potentially forget things, so I might turn down characters if they are too powerful. Generally, if something is balanced well enough I’ll likely accept it (even if the power in question is part of my banlist).
5 - Fun is important, please have it.

Glad to see that people are interested!

@Prima Luce
I plan on giving quite a lot of freedom for people to create characters.
People can create their own species if they want (both sentient and non-sentient), but they'll have to send me information on said species first so I can approve it and stuff. Generally though most common fantasy species are likely to be accepted.

The main concern would, of course, be the powers players give their characters. I plan on making a sort of 'list' of banned powers, but basically any power that can make a character immortal or otherwise overpowered are out.

So yeah, most things will be accepted as long as they 'fit' and are not overpowered, but I'll explain the restrictions in more detail when I make the IC Thread.

Greetings, Person(s)!

So, I’ve decided to, once again, create an RP. And you’re currently reading the Interest Check for that idea. Who’d have thought?

So anyway, onto the RP itself. It’ll be set mainly in the town of Trios, but also in the area around it (and maybe, depending on what happens, in a wider area too).

In this RP, the characters get to explore the town and unravel all sorts of mysteries and stuff, because if you’ve read the story up there, you should know that some things are either unexplained, suspicious or even weird.

In any case, here’s some info about the RP’s setting.

The Era this RP takes place in is a sort-of Steampunk Era. Steam Power is used to power large machines, and due to the scarcity of alternative fuels, this is likely to remain the case for the foreseeable future.

For overland travel, the fastest and most popular method is by train, as there isn’t really any alternative that can compete with a trains speed and strength. Travel by Sea is mostly done with Sailing Ships due to Steam Ships being too expensive for most companies operating ships.

Air travel, meanwhile, is basically non-existent. Airships are in their infancy, and are unlikely to ever take over Trains or Ships, except maybe for luxury travels.

As for weapons, firearms exist but are hard to obtain. Most nations have tough restrictions on them, making both the guns and the ammunition expensive and difficult to obtain. Even so, there are different kinds of firearms:
Revolver: The classic six-bullet firearm, revolvers are the most common and popular firearm.
Pocket Pistol (Derringer Style): A very small two-bullet gun, Pocket Pistols are used for self-defense or assassinations as their small size makes them easy to conceal.
Coachgun: A double-barreled shotgun, Coachgun pack a massive punch at close range, but don't fare well in long-range combat.
Marksman Rifle: A single-bullet rifle that often comes with a scope, these weapons are perfect for picking off targets from a distance.
Repeater Rifle: An expensive weapon that can carry seven bullets. The Repeater Rifle can be fired quite rapidly, but when shooting more slowly is quite accurate

Due to the difficult-to-obtain nature of Firearms, older weapons are still very common and very popular. Since there are so many potential weapons, I will only be mentioning the different types of bows available to people:
Shortbow: The cheapest and most common type of bow, it is a reliable weapon to have.
Longbow: Packs a bigger punch than a Shortbow, but it's a lot heavier to use.
Crossbow: Crossbows have the distinct advantage of being easier to use and the fact they can be used to 'snipe' as you don't need to hold the string drawn while aiming. They pack a decent punch against close, armoured targets.
Pistol Crossbow: A small crossbow that can be fired with one hand but needs to be loaded with two. It's great for emergency situations but they lack the firepower of bigger crossbows.
Repeating Crossbow: A Crossbow that can carry 5 bolts at once, allowing them to be shot in (relatively) rapid succession. They're expensive however, and loading them takes a while. Their magazine also makes it very difficult to aim, making it impossible to snipe with this weapon. Thus it is best used for relatively close combat.

Magic, of course, also exists. Learning magic is possible for most people (except those who are born with a strange immunity to magic), but without proper teachers it can take months or even years. Magic comes in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Casting magic drains one’s energy, meaning that if you cast too much of it you can can run out of energy and thus fall asleep/lose consciousness.

So, how about it? Are you interested? Do you have questions? Let me know!
Pirila was confused as the beer bottle and wall damage suddenly vanished. She didn't quite understand it, but it meant that in all likelihood the 'Fanny' person was indeed someone who couldn't be trusted. After all, she apparently created illusions to try and deceive her.

"Well, that was weird." Pirila says to Mili, who simply nods in response. Pirila still held the lotion, and looked at it curiously, before throwing it away. The person who gave it wasn't trustworthy, so she had no reason to trust the lotion itself. After all, it could be dangerous.

"Shall we eat?" Pirila asks, in response to which Mili nods excitedly as she takes a seat at the table. Smiling, she prepares some simple sandwiches, and sits down with the younger girl, handing her a sandwich as she starts eating. Mili happily takes the sandwich and eats it, apparently hungry.

The sound of gunfire outside made Pirila worry, but if people were planning to break in then she'd see them off.

@Hokum

As Donny was being... removed from the premises, Hida decides it time to emerge from her hiding spot.

Cautiously looking up from behind the wall, she brushes off her dress and cautiously steps towards the front door, trying not to worry the people at the door. After all, they looked sort of dangerous given how the person who started the fight, together with two others, suddenly vanished.

"Hi." Hida said, raising a hand in greeting as she approaches the door. Meanwhile, the people that were inside slowly start leaving the building, returning to their homes.
-@Hokum-
Mili yelps as the strange woman - Fanny or something - dived at her and pushed her to the floor, followed by the loud bang as a hole appeared in the wall. Did her eye summon more things to attack?

She watched on quietly as Pirila ignored the woman's hand and stood up on her own, pulling Mili to her feet. It was obvious that Pirila didn't trust this Fanny woman, and to be fair neither did Mili. Who was she? How did she show up here so suddenly, and why would anyone be willing to drink... whatever it was she was drinking. Mili doesn't know what it is, only that it doesn't look tasty.

It doesn't take long before Pirila starts talking after getting up, and boy does she sound angry. Mili cautiously hides behind her as Pirila starts complaining.

"What are you even talking about?!?" Pirila shouts. "First you show up in our house, spouting nonsense, and then you attempt to protect us from a hole being blown in our wall before it even happens!"

Mili, still hiding behind Pirila, cautiously nods - not that anyone can see it. It was kind of weird how apparently this woman knew about what happened before it was going to happen! Was she working with whatever blew a hole in their wall? Was someone trying to attack them again? Mili didn't know, and she was scared.

Pirila, meanwhile, was mostly angry.

"I don't know how long you've been here, but you've been nothing but suspicious and nothing but trouble has happened. Please leave now."

Hida jumps in surprise as a firefight breaks out in front of her. She'd expected things to get foul, but not this foul. Would these people really just shoot eachother right in front of the Station? It sure appeared that way.

Not wanting to be a casualty in this pointless firefight, Hida decides to take cover, and runs to hide behind a crumbled wall nearby. Madot's shot misses her, and hits a ruin in the distance. The blast destroys the ruin's wall, sending it crumbling as debris is launched in all direction, narrowly missing one of the Station's windows.

Not wanting to be blown to pieces, Hida dives behind the wall and waits until the sounds of fighting cease. After all, it likely wasn't safe to peek out before she was certain that she wouldn't be hit by stray bullets.
Lyullia didn't say much as the Druids arrived at the Caravan. They didn't appear to be hostile, given the fact that they knocked politely instead of trying to force their way inside.

The fact that Druids showed up made Lyullia feel a bit safer. She hadn't expected anything not-hostile to be nearby, let alone people that were actually friendly. Still, they were quite intimidating, and for a moment it looked like an argument was about to erupt between them and some of the crew, but that fortunately didn't happen.

Lyullia didn't say anything as the captain began talking about what happened, she'd gladly let him do all the talking while she just kept an eye on their Myti prisoners. She knew it was likely that there were still more Myti around, and that they weren't quite safe yet.
-@Hokum-

Pirila couldn't believe what she was seeing as this... Fanny person started blabbering on about things that, truthfully, didn't make a lot of sense. She apparently knew a lot of things - she'd probably had been spying for a while and was trying to win her trust by spouting random nonsense.

Catching the tube of 'ointment' that Fanny threw at her, Pirila moved Mili to stand behind her. She didn't trust this woman, not one bit. Putting the ointment down on a nearby table, Pirila stepped forward to confront the intruder, making sure to keep Mili behind her.

"Look. I don't know how you got here, and I don't particularly care either. I don't take kindly to intruders, 'doctor' or not." Pirila said, rather irritated at the woman's sudden appearance. "Since you apparently understand the meaning of the word privacy, I'm going to kindly ask you to respect ours before we unkindly remove you from the premises."

A short distance away from the Phantom Point Station, further down the railway, stands a long silent train. Known before the apocalypse as the "Continental Comet", this former express train has not moved in ages. It stands silent and immobile, a relic of an age long past.

But that doesn't mean it's abandoned. For someone has turned it into their home. Nobody knows where she originally came from, but everyone nearby knows not to get close to the person who lives here, not after the first bandits that tried to raid the train were found dead, their mouths and noses sealed with their own skin. Most people knew from that moment on that it was probably better to not get close to the train, and the deaths of whoever has tried since are reason enough for raiders and bandits to avoid the place.

It is here where Hida lives, secluded from other people. A reclusive... person, Hida has turned the train into her own home, with the observation carriage (with it's glass dome) serving as her bedroom.

She wasn't the first person to live here, but because the previous inhabitants... vanished, Hida was the only one who lived here. And after killing a few intruders she also made sure that she'd be the only person who would dare even get close to her home.

Still, she set up shop in the train for a reason. After all, it was close to something that was rather... important to her.

She also wasn't the kind of person to remain at home at all times, she'd quite often go out and do things.

Today was no different.

-@Hokum & @Doc Doctor-

Hida coughed as the storm blew more ash into her face. She didn't have the same kind of immunity Pirila and Mili benefited from, but she was still immune to death by Ash. Still, being in an Ashstorm isn't a pleasant experience for her.

Having taken on the appearance of a black-haired girl in her late teens, Hida was on her way to the Phantom Point Station. Even though the storm was dying down and slowly making room for rain, the station was still one of the better places to be, especially when the weather wasn't great.

However, upon arrival at the station, she was met with an unusual sight. Outside the door were a group of people wearing masks. Though they were all wearing the same masks, one person looked different to the rest. Not only that, he appeared to have a gun pointed at his head. Was there a fight going to happen? This was interesting.

Climbing down from the rubble she was standing on, Hida makes her way to the group. She is about to raise her hand in greeting when the man wearing an overcoat seemingly shoots the man with the rifle, judging by the sound of a muffled gunshot.

Sighing, she takes a few cautious steps to the side as she watches the fight unfold.
