Zac was reclining in his seat, his eyes closed as he allowed the hum of the ship's engine lull him to sleep. In truth, despite how exhausted he was, having had to deal with a dogfight followed by a crash landing, followed by a collapsing world, then followed by fielding several questions from his passengers, he found sleep difficult to come by. Eventually, he gave up altogether and sat back up in his seat. He glanced at the various screens on his console, at least the ones that still worked, saw that they each displayed an error or a warning of some kind, but none of them told him they were about to crash or end up stranded between worlds, so he ignored them and turned his gaze out into the Ocean Between. He took in the countless stars, the swirling colors, and let out a sigh. "This was always your favorite view," he muttered. "I promise, I'll find you. And we'll spend as long as you want drifting, watching the stars together. Just you and me."
A moment later, one of the instruments that weren't broken on the console began to beep. He hit a button and another screen came to life, displaying the name of the world they were approaching: "Traverse Town." He sat up and took a breath, recentering himself as he began to prepare for landing. "This is your captain speaking. I know you're all enjoying your time in dreamland," he said, putting on his usual happy-go-lucky voice, "but I'm afraid I'll have to cut your naps short. We're approaching our destination, so please place your trays in the upright position, fasten your seatbelts, and prepare for landing."
The ship began to rattle as it entered the atmosphere of the world, but held together long enough to break through. Above, a dark, night sky sparkled with a blanket of stars and below lay a town bathed in the warm glow of streetlamps. He guided the ship over the rooftops until he found what he was looking for: a large, open lot, his usual landing spot not too far from the First District. Right as the ship touched down with a thud, the cockpit suddenly went dark as the Stardust Core suddenly shut down, followed by a loud *boom* as smoke began to spill out from the engine. Zac patted the console and said, "You did well, girl. I'll get you fixed up and you'll be flying again in no time, as good as new! That said..."
He turned in his seat to address his passengers while the canopy lifted open. "We're not gonna be flying anywhere until then, so you're all free to explore. Just stay out of the Second and Third Districts if you can't call a Keyblade or use magic, since those aren't exactly safe, for the moment. I'm gonna get in touch with a fellow mechanic and see if he can't give me a hand with Sigrid. Before you go, though, let me know if you'll be flying with me again so I can get enough provisions for the trip."
