Sanctuary- A Pokemon RP

although your conversation is between you two I'll just tell you what's going on around you up at the sanctuary.

It's bad news I'm afraid. Even though the road up to the Sanctuary was quiet the sweeping lawns outside are filled with town workers hanging up banners, setting up the stage, the bar being set up and even an area for Pokemon battles for tonight's frivolities (The Sanctuary Soiree).

But under cover of darkness... with all the attention on the activities.... maybe you could be onto something?

Oddly enough if the sun wasn't glaring off the windows you reckon you could see inside. Nevertheless from the movement of the shadows there seems to be activity behind the windows almost as frantic as what's going on on the lawns. What could that be for?

You may notice in the shadow of the trees two twin boys stretched out smoking under the grass. They look about your age and have a cooler full of glinting bottles at their feet. They're getting a few glares from adults walking by but their just far away enough from shouting distance to pretend they can't hear any gruff complaints. You can see on of them is pointing lazily to windows on the bottom floor but their is no urgency in their movements.

You've been wandering for a little while your frustration in map reading builds. Perhaps you're a little young for this... perhaps this whole thing was a bad idea. Perhaps you should just go home and read books and never live life. I hope your faithful companion might give you a little jolt at this... or perhaps you could do something about it. Looking back at your map you see there is a little intro class into "What to do after you leave Lo Town"... maybe that might help you out a little bit?

If you choose to go you can make it up a bit or I'm happy to collab it with you over a series of posts. If you've got a better idea let me know but we can work something together whilst @savo and [@rune alchemist] collab a little conversation! I'm sure it will take at least two posts for Lisette to kick Perri's ass :p

On the relationship you say you try to avoid her but then he feels confy around her. Can you clarify? May just be me reading wrong?

@lovejoy only thing missed from me was a post bout lanostran food a few pages back but nothing major.

From my side im comfortable with Astraea using ether for healing and for oratory if she ever needed to use it on a big crowd but as she keeps it hidden i dont see that happening. I really wanted the empath and oratory to be something she couldnt switch off so i feel that would use little bits of her natural ether. Im guessing if she ever realised what ragnar was doing to keep her out she may use her vial to boost her powers but she is blissfully unaware for now. That ok with everyone?

I think Astraea and Tatiana could have a really cool dynamic in the fact that they are almost polar opposites when it comes to the Black Glacier. While Astraea proudly slew her demon, Tatiana cowered, eventually coming to ally herself with the demons of the Black Glacier as a summoner. I was wondering if Astraea would harbor a sort of discomfort around Tatiana’s talent, thus making them rather uncomfortable when working together in combat. In essence, I think it’d be interesting if we were both sort of distrusting of one another’s abilities— maybe even competitive when it comes to solving issues?

Astraea knows daemons are fueled by pure hate so she would be exceptionally uncomfortable with having such evil near and mistrustful of you for being able to tap into such power. Nevertheless the presence of a daemon makes astraea a far stronger and more ruthless warrior as by focusing on that pure callous hate she can block out the pain and death around battle.

Im not sure ill need to write and see how it flows

@deathbringer I really like the idea of Astraea being the keeper of Hassan's inner secrets, and the idea that that's kind of a source of tension and discomfort between them. I don't know about the 'allowing him to compel her' thing; it's a cool idea, but the way I imagined the player immunity to Hassan's powers is that it's more like a magic immune system rather than something that can be consciously turned off, and I think it'd make for better drama if the two were still more on edge about the whole thing

Father Ragnar@lovejoy
Astraea was very confused by Father Ragnar from the moment she met him. Before she had even introduced herself she had felt uncontrollable anger and intollerable pain. She had avoided him as much as she could but when it became clear their paths were linked for the forseeable future she attempted to bite the bullet. She tried to be nice battling against his emotions even as they lit a fire in her brain yet he responded with forced civility. It took immense quantities of an extremely potent liquor for Astraea to learn the reason for his dislike yet sadly this only increased her contempt for him. Though she understood and wept for his pain his hatred of her was incomprehensible. Had her parents been killed by a Varyan she would have focused her attention on the individual Varyan and removed his head or died in the attempt thus putting to rest her families debt. To hate an entire race because of the actions of a small group showed a petty and weak nature she could neither understand nor accept. For the good of the unit Astraea accepts and returns Ragnar's curt civility though the mix of his loathing for her and her contempt for him means it takes immense self control to still her hand from reaching for her spear.

It helps Ragnar is the protector of the group and as such she is duty bound to protect him from harm or they all shall perish. She has never been one to desert her duty!

Father Rodion @Drakey:
Lanostre has never been a technologically advanced place and so Rodion mixes Astraea with a sense of wonder and contempt. On the one hand his ability is truly incredible and he has created things that have made her break into spomtaneous applause. On the other without his little toys she could flip him over and spank his backside with a hand tied behind her back. What honour is there in such a man?

Astraea finds it deeply soothing to watch Rodion work for when fully concentrating he is almost completely devoid of emotion which allows her to relax and enjoy her own emotions for a change. Nevertheless with Ragnar following him round like a lost puppy she withdrew yet with the distance growing in their relationship Astraea has begun to return to enjoy the tranquility.

Father Hassan @Sisyphus ( I very much agree tough one so I'll begin with this. Feel free to pm me)
As an empath Astraea is the only person that truly knows Hasaan's underlying fear and that the cocky boy act is just an act. They began as good friends Hasaan cocky and good natured on the surface but always fearful. It was only when Hasaan discovered her gift that he began to pull away terrified that she would tell someone else his true nature. Nevertheless despite the fact that she would not ever tell anyone the damage was already done.

Hasaan struggled to be himself around her and as he became more involved in the arts of stealth and secrecy she began to loose respect for him. On the face of it they are friendly and cordial but there is a slight tension running between them.

Father Yerokhin @The Angry Goat
Astraea feels the greatest kinship with Father Yerokhin, who as the group tank, needs the most healimg and is the most honourable combatant of any Varyan she has ever known. He is a true test to spar with and is the only one to ask her of daemons and accompany her to hunt. At 7ft if he had green eyes and an elfish smile her mother would have had them wed before tea time yet his brutish Varyan features are unappealing to her prejudiced eyes.

Nevertheless she adores time sparring with Yerokhin whose emotions and words never vary, a quality she deeply admires. Her fondest memory of the Red Seminary is the afternoon they spent trying to develop a one shot kill on an opposing protector. The theory was she grab onto his belt as he barrels foward with his shield extended knocking people aside. He retracts his shield as she use the momentum to leap and throw her spear. She almost lost her front teeth Yerokhin nearly lost his head but Astraea had never laughed so hard in her life.

Despite the fun she is terrified that he may figure out her secret for she struggles to match his Varyan devotion which is unwavering and unquestioning. She continues to flee before being drwawn back in by a new challenge yet it seems he is also wary and occassionally he is understandably curt and irritable.

Her greatest fear is that on the day of the revolution she will need to put her spear through Yerokhin's heart to free her Lady

@SisyphusThat's pretty much what I had in mind, actually. I was thinking that the masses in Magnagrad would subsist on manufactured food distributed to them by the Church. Not sure what form it'd take, but it sure as hell wouldn't be all that pleasant to eat. The people on the higher echelons of society would have access to meat and more natural food, which would come from the herds of bison and other animals that populate the more rural regions of the continent, like Muraad and the like.

I'm thinking Lanostrans also had cattle to eat as well. Anyone have any other ideas concerning this stuff?

Ok alot going on and ive had a long day with beer so forgive me if this is less eloquent than normal.

Somehow i have Lanostre as slightly more green than its Varyan counterparts and thus with a few more edible plants and wildlife. I also have Lanostre, under the lady as being the sort of place where you eat what you catch. As such Lanostrans learn survival and family values early on as they are dependent on their family to survive. It also means they learn teamwork and grow in strength as time goes on. Nevertheless they are used to hunger but also a better standard of diet than a Varyan

I would also suggest that the introduction of a food production plant would be another selling point to the less traditional Lanostran!

Okay then. A little bit of flavour for you all.

I will be formatting it much more nicely when i get home but it's a nightmare to do on a phone.

I hope that gives you a little idea of where we are going with this.

If those of you that posted in the interest check could check in to confirm you will be taking up a character (tendo if you could also confirm which prewett) that would be amazing!

The headmasters study showed no signs of the great struggle that had taken place in it mere hours before. True, there had been no physical battle but a war had begun and the tension still crackled like electricity.

Fawkes crooned gently as if in consolation and Dumbledore smiled.

"It had to begin at sometime old friend"

There was a rap of harsh knuckles on wood and Dumbledore leaned back in his chair

"Enter"

Alistor Moody strode into the room. Powerfully built with graying hair his dark eyes swept the room cataloguing every corner, counting the exits. Framed in the doorway he held himself with the stubborn resiliance of a trained man that expected death but sure as hell was going to go down fighting.

Dumbledore smiled but made no comment even as Moody took a seat across from him.

"So?" grunted Moody

"Cola cube?" Dumbledore proffered the box with a subtle flick of his wand eyes twinkling as Moody pushed it away with irritable impatience. Moody continued his voice a low growl, dark eyes demanding an answer.

"You call me here in the middle of a bloody snow storm with a talking phoenix and... "

"I have just started a war" Dumbledore overrode him gently and Moody changed tack.

"Excellent" he paused for a moment "who with?"

"Lord Voldemort"

"Ah" Moody paused, bluff stoicism fading for an instant before returning with a vengeance "what did you do.... tell him slytherin had a small snake?"

"I refused his job application" Dumbledore looked down for a moment "Accepting him would have only strengthened his position but still I fear peoople will suffer greatly for my actions tonight."

Moody grunted suddenly business like "Muggles have been disappearing country wide. The war has already started you only returned fire. So I take it you will be resigning here and joining the ministry in the morning. Why am I here...." he gave a bark like laugh "help you pack?"

Dumbledore's eyes twinkled but his voice was grave

"Hogwarts is the true battleground Alastor. If Voldermort can influence the hearts and minds of our future then we have truly lost."
He paused a fierce power seemed to radiate from him like heat
"that shall never happen... not while I am headmaster."

Moody grunted though his eyes showed he disagreed even as Dumbledore continued.

"I spoke with Eugenia Jenkins this morning and urged her to take the fight to Voldermort and his supporters tonight. I provided her with evidence of potential crimes that at the very least would allow her reason to detain Voldermort for questioning. She left with the intention of assembling a team of aurors to raid the hogs head tonight."

Dumbledore's eyes twinkled and he gave a little chuckle at the look of outrage that had burst across Moody's face

" Your presence here... the look on your face and the stillness of the night shows me no action is being taken. As such we can only assume one thing. The ministry has been infiltrated and that, despite the great strides we have made on the path to equal rights, the balance of influence in the ministry still resides with pure blood families many of whom, at least, empathise with Voldemort's desire for a new world order."

"So a true resistance must come from outside the ministries sphere of influence" grunted Moody

Dumbledore nodded gravely even as Moody continued

"And i take it the ministry will not be happy to find an employee of the ministry partaking in this resistance?"

Dumbledore nodded again the question hanging in the air between them

"Well when they send me to take myself to Azkaban I'm sure I'll be having an off day"

Dumbledore smiled

"Thank you. Though I never doubted your fighting spirit it does mean we will have to be somewhat selective in our recruitment process"

Moody nodded clapping his hands together business like once more.

"Right then! Who we bringing in?"
