I have an RP idea in mind where you play either a militarized task force designed to eliminate paranormal activity, or something akin to the Umbrella Secret Service.

I am trying to worldbuild god civs akin to the Time Lords or Xeelee, but so far I've yet to get anything concrete down. It is a tad frustrating, but I'll come up with something eventually. I hope.

@Obscene: And that is true. I might try that with a character I'm making for a fic actually. Though they'll be no-nonsense in a largely jovial kind of way.

Yeah. Static was just what popped into my head as the closest descriptor since those are less focused on the character's arc or internal struggle. Not the best wording to use admittedly.

I just want more protagonists with that same resolve, or barring that ones who aren't confused young adults looking to find their place in life analogues.

Glad that you’re interested. Do you have any character concept in mind or at least what kind of monster you want to be?

@Havoccultist
Glad that you also have an interest in this. While I’m not super familiar with all the beings of the Cthulhu mythos, out of the three mentioned, I believe Nyarlathotep would probably work the best, or you could create an original eldritch being. The only problem with these kind of characters is that they exist on cosmic level and might not have any real stake in what is going on on Earth. But if you reworked Nyarlathotep a little bit, maybe toning down his powers, I could see him as a member of the Council of Night.

Given that at most what I know of Nyar consists of shapeshifting troll who uses magic to cause chaos, I don't think that should be too hard lol. Sure he is much greater than that power wise, but a toned down version like that should work well enough I think. I could also make a custom eldritch entity as you mentioned, which would be easier since I only really see it affecting things on a planetary level at most. Although even then that'd be through gradual influence and a kind of infectious madness as its influences spreads or it awakens, etc., rather than all at once.

I will note that Hastur is a strictly planetbound being as well from what I can tell, at least so far as his influence goes. Sure he spreads it via the Yellow Sign, but he is confined to Carcosa from what I know, and has been stuck there ever since he (possibly) landed on and corrupted it ages ago. I say possibly because like all things Mythos or Yog-Sothery related, it's left rather vague. For more info on him specifically, there's this: lovecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Hastur

Because of this he might work better, as I can play him more as an eldritch royalty type deal instead of a strictly cosmic entity.
Consider me interested, but I am curious as to the specific limits of the creatures we can play. Could I go with a Nyarlathotep or Hastur or even Azathoth type eldritch figure? A sort of progenitor/ruler of all eldritch abominations, or even just an eldritch entity in general?
Consider me tentatively interested.
All right. Found the application. Won't spoil it, so yes the rest of you will still need to look, but I've found it. Was a fun puzzle, and though I do not plan on joining, I hope this RP goes well. Seems like an interesting premise, and this is a neat deviation from the normal format for interest checks on this site.

I know, hence the cheater-warding skulls! And you can just stick them in a set of [img] brackets.

Huh. And that really doesn't mess up the post? Well, I guess I've learned a new formatting trick then.

Now if only I could solve your riddle. I loathe them, but my brain is being obsessive tonight it seems.
You know, finding something in the raw of a post isn't that hard. I am genuinely curious as to how you managed to fit all the skulls in there without messing up the formatting of the actual post though. Even if it is just an image inside an [img] tag, it should still appear unless there's other formatting trickery involved.

I haven't read the Dark Tower, so I'll have to take your word for it.

Well he doesn't shoot bullets through portals, that I know of, but he is called the Gunslinger for a reason.
It's weird. I have personality and backstory lined up but it's the powers and abilities part that has me stumped. In essence he'll be a gunfighter, and the only idea I have is that he can shoot bullets into and out of shadows as if they were portals. Imagine Revolver Ocelot's trick shots but cranked up even further.

Givin' me Dark Tower Roland vibes ngl.
Excited for Baldurs Gate 3 soon and that Rogue Trader CRPG that's in the works

I am torn between it and Starfield. On the one hand, it's fucking Baldur's Gate 3 and Larian took their time with it (like all game companies should, the lazy pricks), but on the other it's Starfield and I could do with a proper sci-fi RPG.

I really don't know which to get.
