Welcome to my little personal den of Hell! Sorry, sorry, I meant my personal profile. Same thing, right?
I'm a roleplayer, same as any around here. I've been doing it for about five years now, coming up to six in September. Its been quite the time, thinking back. I started out fresh as can be, understanding the basics of writing but never quite knowing how to become better, or become as great as those around me. In the end, I did the only thing I really knew at the time:
Write as much garbage as possible and hope for the best!
As you can see, that particular tactic fucking failed. Jokes aside, I like to think I've developed a lot over the years, both as a writer and as a person. However, absolutely nothing can dissuade my weeaboo ways and supporting my OTP with all that I can freaking muster! If you haven't already guessed, said OTP is Chrom x Robin (Chrobin) from Fire Emblem: Awakening. Highly recommend the game, there's a reason (other than nintendo's cheapskate attitude) that it hasn't dropped in price, it's honestly the best place to start off in the series. And hey, maybe you'll end up addicted like me and want to buy every game on the 3DS like a fucking loony?
Speaking of loonies, the Fire Emblem Chrobin Comic Dub Project has recently finished, so for those of you who also appreciate the best ship in existence, I highly recommend it. Hell, even if you're not interested in that, I do highly recommend watching it for those into fantasy love stories. The quality improves drastically with each episode, so trust me when I say by the end of it you should be thoroughly impressed. It has helped motivate me in ways I can hardly describe with words, and so I thought the least I could do was put this out there. Maybe it's not for everyone, but I know it was the perfect thing for me.
"Do you think you can tip any of the scales in here?" "Chrom, for the love of Naga, I'm thinking..."
"So I heard."
"There are better places to take a nap than on the ground, you know."
There is a universe. No-one knows it's name, where gravity wasn't strong enough to bind matter together and no stars formed. And because no stars formed, no stars exploded. And because no stars exploded, no planets came about. And because no planets came about, there was no life.
There's another universe, no one knows it's name, where gravity was strong enough and did light the stars and planets came about and boy, they were gorgeous, planets in perpetual winter, planets in perpetual summer, planets that could rival the Garden of Eden and no bloody snakes! And on one of them, eventually, complex life evolved and one of the species developed large brains learned things like manners and dabbing, when they looked up at the stars and wonder what they were doing here. You called them octopuses, I suppose. Gosh, they were clever, for octopuses, and one of them, several million years in, almost wrote something in ink on the seafloor, a message to its friend. And the message almost read: "Hi! How are you?" And a few millennia later, space folder back on itself and, you get the idea. Goodbye Octopi.
There's another universe, where life formed on every planet, in every solar system, and it was carbon-based, it was silicon based, it was made of crystals and water and plasma, it was made of quantum fields and light, and everything was alive, everything was doing a boogie, and it was everybody's birthday, everyday, relatively, and everyone got presents, and they had over a trillion languages, some written down, some only spoken, some conducted telepathically, and they bought a galactic civilization together, as a perfect unity, sharing stories, sharing technology, speaking a common tongue, understanding everything about how the cosmos been put together. And finally, when everything was sorted, the galaxies were arranged into perfect geometric formations, transmitting pure love, and wisdom, and birthday greetings to all species in the universe, for all time. Papercuts never happened, coke came in glass bottles, no one even remembered the word for war, everything was beautiful and nothing hurt.
And yet, for a quirk in their evolution, because resources weren't scarce enough on the planets these species developed on, not a single creature in the universe was conscious. Food was eaten and no-one enjoyed it. Movies were released, and there was no laughing, or crying. No-one chuckled at a joke. Ever. Space collapsed back on itself, eventually, and there hadn't been a single moment of sentience in the entire history of creation.
There's another universe, where the strong force is too strong the weak force is too weak and nothing forms. Another, where life develops too late when the Stars have all gone beyond the light boundary and there's nothing to even see. Another with too many dimensions. Another with not enough. Another where time goes in the opposite direction, and species begin as gods, and wind backwards to cells, and never learn to survive. Another that only lasts milliseconds, and collapses in on itself, and heads straight back to oblivion. And that's how it just might be, across all possible universes, across all possible space times. Problems with the laws of nature, not enough resources, missteps in evolution. An atlas of dead-ends.
Then again, there is one exception.
There's another universe, a big one, where life is rare, where intelligent life is very rare indeed, the stars are very distant from each other, the laws of nature are very complex, it's extremely lonely for any species developing, and most never even develop at all, but somewhere, we believe, is a planet where the oceans are vast, and the climate is varied. Where the smartest species on the planet may have developed just the right mix of ambition and kindness. And if you were to travel there, to this unbelievably rare statistical anomaly, to this impossibly lucky planet, where evolution, biology, chemistry, nae, the laws of physics themselves have come together to create sentient intelligent life, you may be able to catch the native inhabitants singing for joy. Of what an impossibly lucky, and rare position they find themselves in. It is a chant of gratitude, a ritual of showing appreciation for ending up in perhaps the one universe, in the one solar system, on the one planet with all the basic ingredients for intelligent, conscious life.
Oh yeah, that reminds me: @Toots, does Kokoro have dorms? Just thought I'd ask since Tohka would be living away from her parents. It works either way for me, since she either lives on campus or in some sketchy part of town and both sound fun ^-^
@Asura Kevin-11 is now part of the RP, and it makes me happy XD
@Cio Vitalight works with just about everyone tho. But I'd like to see him, muddy boi and someone bulky combining together to make a three-man All Might c:
Tohka doesn't really worry about her physical appearance, but has kept in pretty good shape most of her life, in part due to her quirk forcing a strong metabolism. She stands at 5'5, weighs 132lbs, and has a giant mouth where her hair would be. Her deep black hair blends perfectly into the gaping maw that is her companion, Munch, who she shares a connection to quite literally.
Q U I R K T Y P E
Mutant
Q U I R K D E S C R I P T I O N
Carnivore Crunch, the companion quirk! Tohka has a pet "mouth" which is located in her hair, called Munch. Although terrifying in appearance, Munch isn't quite so terrifying as his teeth would leave you to believe, most people finding him the more social of the two mutes. Munch is an entity which lives inside Tohka, a parasitic quirk which leeches off her energy to survive. He cannot retreat inside of Tohka, however if he takes a significant amount of damage he will shrivel up and become completely immobile to heal. Munch's keratin shell (basically his skin) is water and fire resistant, as well as resisting blunt force, making him ideal as a biological shield. His teeth can easily pierce skin and his jaw strength is as strong as a saltwater crocodile.
While injuries to Munch will not harm Tohka (and vice-versa), the back of her head is incredibly susceptible to any and all attacks, able to incapacitate the two of them with a single strike. Furthermore, if Tohka is incapacitated, Munch is too, though she can continue to move if he is forced to heal. However, this will put incredible strain on her body, and make her seriously tired. Additionally, although Munch can think for himself, he cannot sense for himself, and is entirely bound to the senses provided by Tohka. Munch is also quite heavy and hard to maneuver with if he's not the one doing the maneuvering, and also takes up a lot of energy, again particularly to self-heal, which he can do at an accelerated rate. Because of this, if she's not careful, Tohka can find herself unconscious from over-exertion in minutes. While a powerful quirk overall, the mastery of this quirk in hero activities, like combat and rescue operations, is what has held Tokizaki from going to any notable hero schools. Her parents, both quirkless, don't know the first thing about becoming a hero, but at hearing her request, they knew they would need to give Tohka a school which would provide her growth from the ground up. Thus, Kokoro Academy was chosen.
C H A R A C T E R G O A L S
Tohka has a powerful quirk, I'm well aware of this. The original version of her was meant to be on the same level as some of Shiketsu's students, so it was obvious I had to downgrade her in order to give her some room to grow and develop. The thing about Tohka is that she's a representation of the class's "top student". She was fundamentally supposed to be the strongest and smartest, as I originally set her out to be someone who would never grow, and be overtaken by everyone else in class. Her apathy would make her fall to the bottom of the barrel, which I felt could be an interesting contrast to MHA's message about growth and perseverance; what do you aspire to be if you are already at the top? Of course, this didn't tie well with the RP as it stood, so I got to editing.
Tokizaki is still naturally strong, no doubt, but lacks a fundamental understanding of what being a hero is about. There's potential in her to become incredible, but it requires a lot of learning. Trouble is, Tohka is apathetic by nature. Her passion for becoming a hero isn't cemented immediately like other characters - rather, it's something she will learn over time once she sees the passions of her classmates coming to fruition. I felt this could work a lot more naturally with the setting, especially if it's properly tied in with character development. If it doesn't work I'm open to changing her nature too, since she could be a fairly flexible character, this is just what I felt worked best with her character.
I'm also happy to buff or nerf the quirk, though I would like to keep its fundamental identity there if possible. Before revision, she could move Munch to her limbs as well, however limiting him to the back of her head feels like a massive nerf to her flexibility/versatility. Furthermore she had a lot more physical strength on her own before, whereas now she will need to develop muscle strength over the course of the RP, which I felt was another appropriate nerf. The resistances Munch has could be a bit excessive though, so I'm happy to remove those in exchange for keeping the huge amount of jaw strength he has, as well as adding some bonus weaknesses. The critical weak-point, where Munch and Tohka connect, has mostly stayed the same as I think it works well, since she can't track her weak point at all, and must be conscious of someone getting behind her at all times. Not to mention, if she wants to use Munch she will usually have to turn around and expose her major weakness. Trappers, stealth users, and speedsters act as hard-counters because they can easily exploit her weaknesses, whereas defensive behemoths or physically strong opponents are match-ups she's good against.
Overall, she has a powerful quirk, but needs to learn how to use it. She could probably be compared to Deku the most, with a hint of Todoroki tied in. She has a lot of learning to do to become even adept at using her quirk, but once she finally learns and grows, she will probably be a lot stronger than most, especially if she receives some of her nerfs back.
Q U E S T I O N S
Given its reputation, why apply to Kokoro Academy? "I never trained to be a hero. I never learned to be a hero. I never knew I wanted to be a hero... But now I do. I can't go to other schools because I don't know what I don't know. I need to learn everything. I helped someone who said that I could become a hero, and they've helped me get to this point. So, I want to help them and apply here."
Why do you want to be a professional hero? "That's... hard. But I'll try to make it simple: I never had someone in life who I could help. I've been alone with Munch a long time. But I saved someone from getting hurt, and it made me think about who I wanted to be. They said, with my power, I could be a hero. It... surprised me. They helped me get in, to be here. So I want to try. I want to get to the next level, and become a student for a hero school. Any school is fine, but they helped me get here, so I'll try here."
What kind of professional hero do you want to become? "The best one? I don't understand, I'm sorry. I want to be a hero. Is there more than one type? I don't really know much about the different types of heroes there can be because I've never really experienced their presence. I never thought I'd be one so I didn't think it was something for me to focus on. I'm sorry, I don't know how to answer your question..."
Best describe yourself in five sentences. "I eat a lot of food. Medical condition. Named after the day I was supposed to die. No friends. Munch... I don't know how I'd describe myself. I don't like talking a lot, so this is a little difficult, but I'll try. I like to do things that interest me, and don't like doing things for others, but I like helping people. I don't know what it takes to be a hero, but I want to learn and become something that isn't... me. I... want to be liked by people, too. I'm not very strong, but I want to get stronger, and I want to get better at feeling things. I have a lot that I want, more or less."
What are your interests and hobbies? "Eating, playing games, reading, breaking things, sleeping, uhh... Yeah. I really want to find more things, but home doesn't have a lot to do. I want to try crafts some more, but also shooting things like paintball. It sounds fun. I like some more nerdy stuff. Umm... Mmmh."
Are there any notable accomplishments you want to us to be aware of? "No. Maybe. I saved a person from falling really high up. They were very sad, and didn't want to keep living. I just did what anyone would do, though. I also learned how to crush a car, but that's a rather embarrassing story... Oh! But I've always been good at high jump in school, since Munch is great at helping me into the air. I won a lot of awards for sports."
Tell us something about your quirk that most might not know? Any events or memories, be it joyous or ill, tied to it? "... Hitting this part right here, on the back of the head? It hurts. Really badly. I once got hit by a dodge ball there and fell unconscious. I had a migraine for three days and had to be hospitalized. Someone karate chopped me there to test it and I almost hurt them. Please don't test it out, it really, really hurts. I don't like people knowing it but you should probably know, just in case I get hurt there."
Why should we consider you over the other applicants? What can you offer that they cannot? "Umm... well... uhh... I don't know. I want to be a really great hero, and I want to do it through this school. But everybody probably wants that... Munch is really strong. He can do incredible things, like crushing things. I think we can help people together, and also stop people from getting hurt. I never really thought about it before, but when I think about what kind of hero I can be, I think I can be one of the best. But I'm going to need a lot of help with that, and I think I can get there here, where I can't anywhere else. I don't know what I can become just yet, what I can offer you, but I know that I can learn quickly and be of use to Kokoro Academy. If... if you'll let me."
@Animal Mmmh, I'd be interested in an eating contest between our two characters. Pretty sure Tohka would lose but it's definitely something to do if there's some downtime in the story c:
@Delta44 The quirk is interesting, but kinda curious on how Munch functions. I get that it has a mouth, so aside from biting and chewing, can it speak, lick, spit, etc? Is it able to swallow? If so, where would it go? You mentioned that it can sense for itself, so dDoes it have eyes or capable of smelling and tasting? The rest of its capabilities seem nerfable, but I'm leaning towards letting them slide. Being able to move Munch to her limbs sounds like a good upgrade; just find a way to make sense of how she'd actually learn to do it.
Info dump, sorry!
Munch can eat from his current position, as his throat will avoid her head entirely and simply connect with hers. It's not overly large or anything though, so he can't start swallowing watermelons to recover their stamina, especially since it would block in Tohka's neck c: He can lick and has vocal chords to communicate, but can't form words, only grunts, barks, roars, that kind of thing. As for other parts, he doesn't have any kind of sense organ, like eyes or a nose, but has a sense of touch and taste. As for letting him move to other limbs, I always imagined it like a restructuring of his keratin shell, breaking them down into cells and reforming through Tohka's skin elsewhere. Like nanomachines breaking down and reforming, but with cells. I imagine the scientific way this would happen would be either transporting these bits through her blood vessels or along her skin, then deconstructing the end of her other limb and using it to reform himself. Kinda morbid, so it would likely be unlocked in a moment of trauma or extreme stress rather than training, which you could work into the story if you have something like that in mind (TOURNAMENT ARRRRRC? baddies?). Since Munch is a parasitic quirk, I always thought he had his own brain inside of Tohka's body with a body that is external to protect both himself and his host from danger, in which case it would make sense for him to be able to deconstruct himself.

And hey, maybe you'll end up addicted like me and want to buy every game on the 3DS like a fucking loony?<br><br>Speaking of loonies, the <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeAWfrBMa2pytnTYnxAtiphQGJU3ojDD7">Fire Emblem Chrobin Comic Dub Project</a> has recently finished, so for those of you who also appreciate the best ship in existence, I highly recommend it. Maybe it's not for everyone, but I know it was the perfect thing for me.<br>	<br><br>	<br>	</div></th></tr></thead></table></div><br><img src="https://alynerd.files.wordpress.com/2015/10/tumblr_nvrmdwbdkf1ruyji8o1_1280.jpg?w=840" /><br><br><div class="bb-right"><font color="darkblue">"Do you think you can tip any of the scales in here?"</font><br><font color="purple">"Chrom, for the love of Naga, I'm thinking..."</font></div><hr class="bb-hr"><div class="table-responsive"><table class="bb-table table"><thead class="bb-thead"><tr class="bb-tr"><th class="bb-th"><font color="darkblue">"So I heard."<br>	<br>	<br>	<br>	<br>	<br>	</font></th><th class="bb-th"><div class="bb-center"><img src="https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DkvxGnlWwAEShes.jpg" /></div></th><th class="bb-th"><div class="bb-right"><font color="purple">"There are better places<br>to take a nap than <br>on the ground, you know."<br>	<br>	<br>	<br>	<br>	<br>	<br>	<br>	<br>	<br>	<br>	<br>	<br>	<br>	<br>	<br>	</font></div></th></tr></thead></table></div><div class="hider-panel"><div class="hider-heading"><button type="button" class="btn btn-default btn-xs hider-button" data-name="A Hymn For Goldilocks">A Hymn For Goldilocks [+]</button></div><div class="hider-body" style="display: none"><div class="bb-center"><img src="https://static.tumblr.com/b572f57912d8b5345269f9dc72e04359/yveunmd/zEwn8f4ke/tumblr_static_4fc6jqggm90kg048ok0kkw0ww_640_v2.jpg" /></div><br><br>There is a universe. No-one knows it's name, where gravity wasn't strong enough to bind matter together and no stars formed. And because no stars formed, no stars exploded. And because no stars exploded, no planets came about. And because no planets came about, there was no life.<br><br>There's another universe, no one knows it's name, where gravity was strong enough and did light the stars and planets came about and boy, they were gorgeous, planets in perpetual winter, planets in perpetual summer, planets that could rival the Garden of Eden and no bloody snakes! <br>Goodbye Octopi.<br><br>There's another universe, where life formed on every planet, in every solar system, and it was carbon-based, it was silicon based, it was made of crystals and water and plasma, it was made of quantum fields and light, and everything was alive, everything was doing a boogie, and it was everybody's birthday, everyday, relatively, and everyone got presents, and they had over a trillion languages, some written down, some only spoken, some conducted telepathically, and they bought a galactic civilization together, as a perfect unity, sharing stories, sharing technology, speaking a common tongue, understanding everything about how the cosmos been put together. <br><br>And yet, for a quirk in their evolution, because resources weren't scarce enough on the planets these species developed on, not a single creature in the universe was conscious. Food was eaten and no-one enjoyed it. Movies were released, and there was no laughing, or crying. No-one chuckled at a joke. Ever.<br>Space collapsed back on itself, eventually, and there hadn't been a single moment of sentience in the entire history of creation.<br><br>There's another universe, where the strong force is too strong the weak force is too weak and nothing forms.<br>Another, where life develops too late when the Stars have all gone beyond the light boundary and there's nothing to even see. <br>Another with too many dimensions.<br>Another with not enough.<br>Another where time goes in the opposite direction, and species begin as gods, and wind backwards to cells, and never learn<br>to survive.<br>Another that only lasts milliseconds, and collapses in on itself, and heads straight back to oblivion.<br>And that's how it just might be, across all possible universes, across all possible space times. Problems with the laws of nature, not enough resources, missteps in evolution.<br>An atlas of dead-ends.<br><br>Then again, there is one exception.<br><br>There's another universe, a big one, where life is rare, where intelligent life is very rare indeed, the stars are very distant from each other, the laws of nature are very complex, it's extremely lonely for any species developing, and most never even develop at all, but somewhere, we believe, is a planet where the oceans are vast, and the climate is varied. Where the smartest species on the planet may have developed just the right mix of ambition and kindness.<br>And if you were to travel there, to this unbelievably rare statistical anomaly, to this impossibly lucky planet, where evolution, biology, chemistry, nae, the laws of physics themselves have come together to create sentient intelligent life, you may be able to catch the native inhabitants singing for joy. Of what an impossibly lucky, and rare position they find themselves in. <br>It is a chant of gratitude, a ritual of showing appreciation for ending up in perhaps the one universe, in the one solar system, on the one planet with all the basic ingredients for intelligent, conscious life.<br><br>~Exurb1a</div></div></div>
