Seeing actual bushfire footage looks straight out of Hell... It moves so quickly and so powerfully, literally the trees just ignite. You firefighters are absolute legends, but please, don't die.

Just you...

and me.

Welcome to my little personal den of Hell! Sorry, sorry, I meant my personal profile. Same thing, right?

I'm a roleplayer, same as any around here. I've been doing it for about five years now, coming up to six in September. Its been quite the time, thinking back. I started out fresh as can be, understanding the basics of writing but never quite knowing how to become better, or become as great as those around me. In the end, I did the only thing I really knew at the time:

Write as much garbage as possible and hope for the best!

As you can see, that particular tactic fucking failed.
Jokes aside, I like to think I've developed a lot over the years, both as a writer and as a person. However, absolutely nothing can dissuade my weeaboo ways and supporting my OTP with all that I can freaking muster! If you haven't already guessed, said OTP is Chrom x Robin (Chrobin) from Fire Emblem: Awakening. Highly recommend the game, there's a reason (other than nintendo's cheapskate attitude) that it hasn't dropped in price, it's honestly the best place to start off in the series. And hey, maybe you'll end up addicted like me and want to buy every game on the 3DS like a fucking loony?

Speaking of loonies, the Fire Emblem Chrobin Comic Dub Project has recently finished, so for those of you who also appreciate the best ship in existence, I highly recommend it. Hell, even if you're not interested in that, I do highly recommend watching it for those into fantasy love stories. The quality improves drastically with each episode, so trust me when I say by the end of it you should be thoroughly impressed. It has helped motivate me in ways I can hardly describe with words, and so I thought the least I could do was put this out there. Maybe it's not for everyone, but I know it was the perfect thing for me.

"Do you think you can tip any of the scales in here?"
"Chrom, for the love of Naga, I'm thinking..."

"So I heard."

"There are better places
to take a nap than
on the ground, you know."

Road Less Taken

'Breathe, Minako, breathe...!'

The thought echoed in the teen's mind the longer she deprived her lungs of oxygen, though surely enough she couldn't keep it held forever. Panting as though she'd run half a mile, Minako hunched over, eyes wide and weary simultaneously. Being caught in such a dark trance a moment before seemingly took it out of her, though being behind her allies meant nobody got the chance to see it. Between Michael's sniper rifle and Roadhog's scrap gun, the summoner had ample supply of memories flooding back to her, all of them negative, all involving guns. A cruel reminder of her own PTSD, a fear of death, and of guns.

Especially revolvers. She was lucky to not have spotted the Courier's yet.

Speaking of, the gungho gunslinger lead the charge ahead, followed by the rest of the group. While she had the time Minako chose to ground herself, focusing on the things around her to steady her heart rate, counting backwards from 1000 in increments of 22 and the like. Thankfully it didn't take long, in part due to the two aforementioned gunmen running off ahead, but that presented its own problem: loneliness.

'Can't catch a break, can we?'

Desperate to get away from that crushing reality, another slowly encroached beyond a hill up ahead: the scrapyard. It felt similar to the abandoned military base S.E.E.S explored, with all the ruptured metal and broken down machines everywhere, only this time they belonged to actual robots rather than computing equipment.
Speaking of, Aegis wasn't anywhere to be seen, which was both a relief as much as it was a disappointment. If only they would meet in a clear state of mind, away from a battlefield. But seeing the situation before her made Minako doubt that would ever happen. Unfortunate as it was, they would probably meet on a battlefield, which made her stomach knot and her throat close up just thinking about it. Seeing so much carnage didn't exactly help, either.

Looking over the battlefield, Minako was confident she could take on the robots and the rabbits. If she had a problem with robots shooting then that would have developed a long time ago. In her case it was people -- well, as far as one could classify something as a "person" -- with guns that she was most wary of. Most everything before them seemed like they were intent on fighting no matter what it was, no better than Shadows. No, what she was worried about was her allies. Specifically the Devil, who would be watching over them with a sniper rifle. There was no way she was standing by that.

While most rushed off to regain the Tower's... hat? Minako turned towards the left path. "I'm scouting up ahead, in case we need another path. This battlefield looks too... clustered for my liking." She didn't wait for a response, simply heading down the hill towards the left path. So long as nobody was shooting at her, she would be mostly fine, the sounds of combat drowning out particular shots, though anything from Michael's 50. cal would undoubtedly shatter that estranged peace of mind. 'Please be an easy route, please be an easy route...'
Considering that everyone is at the Scrapyard now, imminently. Whoever heads to the left side of the battlefield will encounter your new character.

That'll be moi! Gonna have a reply up today! :D

Bridging the Gap

Bowser was just an absolute sweetheart, charming even her icy cold-
Never mind, trying to be sarcastic just gave her a headache...

A brief nod was all the response she needed to give. Bowser seemed like a busy man and not the type to be held up with introductions, so she let the conversation slide for now. He was kind enough to offer a lift to get across the gap, however she had to decline a place. Now was a good chance to test her strength for real, and remind her of just how much muscle she had lost in those final weeks. She began to stretch to warm herself up, finding even that simple act to be harder than it had once been. It was a long jump, yeah, but if the Master could make it then she was confident in her own ability to clear the canyon.

The Tower's mobility, even when weighed down, was impressive to say the least. Even with passengers he could clear the gap and climb above the Thwomp without too much difficulty. Maybe it was his sheer strength instead, as he was a rather muscly one.

But that was something she could comprehend at a later date. For now, Minako had to focus on herself.
Thankfully she had help in the form of Blazermate, who offered to help so long as she could jump well enough. It made the team leader chuckle. "Jump? How about we fly?" She gave her naginata a twirl as though to emphasise her point. She didn't get good with polearms just to fight, after all.

Once the two were ready the redhead, with a deep breath, sprinted down the path towards the canyon - an unspecified drop awaiting her if she miscalculated. But, considering she'd done this more than a few times now, it wasn't much of a problem. The real trouble came in pulling her body up and yanking out the naginata after she stabbed it into the ground, using it to pole-vault well into the air. The lactic acid was already kicking in, her arms throbbing with a dull ache, one clutching the naginata as the other sailed freely above. Her jump, while greater than the Master's, wouldn't be enough to clear the Thwomp on her own. Thankfully, she had Blazermate for that.

The two made it well beyond the initial pit, due to their combined effort, and, with the rest of the team, breezed through the remainder of the obstacle course. There was some struggling here and there, but ultimately her body was capable of keeping up, if only with some painful side effects. At least it wasn't deadly!

She mostly kept to herself behind the group, watching as they caught up with apparent acquaintances that had split off earlier. A westerner with a... grenade launcher? It made her uncomfortable watching him wield it so casually, though as he passed it to the much smaller yellow lombax, a sense of ease washed over her. Somehow she was more comfortable with Ratchet wielding it than Six.
Speaking of, they likely all had their own tarot assignments too: moon, star, and... temperance? Maybe. The new three members she'd have to think a little harder on. But she could only keep her mind on cards for so long, especially as the Master summoned one of those "key blades" from the lovers, before giving it to her after using it to seemingly revive the large... man?

At least it was easier to understand why he needed them now. If he could make blades from them to revive others, then it made sense to want to keep said people around. But now, the question was wh-

A sudden BOOM! sent a shock wave through Minako's entire body, heart beating harder than perhaps it ever had. It was a gunshot, no doubt. Her eyes looked around for any sign of the shooter, though couldn't find anything in the distance. Yet as her eyes drew to the foreground, the teenager found her answer:
The Devil. He was laying on the ground with a large rifle, thankfully aimed in the opposite direction. Yet even so, just the sound made her think of a time she didn't want to have to think about again. To a past that was best left alone...
@Lugubrious Sorry for the lack of activity, have a lot going on and I've been digging away at this post awhile now c: Gonna work on it now and it should be done today, me hopes!

Post is a bit shallow and I'd like to apologise for that, next one should be more fulfilling!

The morning alarm went off at 5:30 on the dot, and Azukina was immediately awoken. Like some of her other classmates, anxiety had eaten away at her for the past few days, causing her to doubt her placement. Returning to Aomori was a no-go, she simply didn't want to go back, and while she was sure she could get into another school, Azuki hated wasted effort. She'd stayed up late the previous night reading, enjoying more of her favourite philosophical text, as well as a few simpler hero fiction and non-fiction works. One day, she was going to be a hero, at least that's what she told herself. If her mother and little brother believed it, then maybe, just maybe, it would come true. Maybe, just maybe, she'd get her chance at Jigokuraku.

Surviving on what little money she had was tough, but the teen could make do. Breakfast was simple and small for today, no lunch, maybe a little something for dinner if she was lucky. But there wasn't really a whole lot of money to go around and keep herself supported. She was lucky that the landowner of the place she was currently renting was so kind, otherwise she'd be on the streets by now. There was gas, water, a little bit of food, and a warm bed. Surely, the teenager would have to find a way to repay the old lady later down the line, but for the moment her stay was coming to an end.
And the letter from Jigokuraku couldn't have arrived at a better time.

Fresh from the shower, it took her that little while to realise that there was a note on the floor in the front doorway. Careful to dry her fingers before reading it, the hero-to-be analysed the text with, at first, diligent attentiveness. However, this soon gave way to surprised glee, when she read the final part of the letter:
Please make your way to the school hall at precisely 8:00am. Your fellow students and teachers will be awaiting your arrival.’

Damn if they were, it was almost six in the morning! But she had to get ready, and quickly, if she wanted to make it to the school. Thankfully she was blessed by the gods with relatively straight hair, so she only needed to worry about getting dressed and packing her things, more or less. But with the added excitement of knowing she was accepted, Black-n'-White was out the door and on her way early, stopping outside the balcony to briefly catch a stray snowflake in the palm of her hand. She squeezed it tight, effectively killing the poor snowflake, before attaching her own letter to the door of her now former residency, informing the landowner of her departure. She was sure to add what loose change she could spare with the letter, with the promise to repay her kindness when she next could.

And with that, Azukina Yomodachi ran.

Before her lay the steps leading up to Jigokuraku. The long walk was a daunting journey, albeit an exciting one. But, like with all things that could be overcome with speed, Azuki would run it. She'd known running all her life, it was one of those things she was pretty good at, and had the stamina to keep going and going, like a hero! Beginning at the base at the end of a long road, Azukina Yomodachi was the first to reach the steps (as far as she knew) leading up to Jigokuraku High, and started the ascent with a sprint.

Trees and bushes acted as progress bars to the finish, the environment a deep forest all around. Not that there were any real landmarks, at least for a majority of the journey. At about halfway up a clearing presented itself in the trees, providing a beautiful view of Kimisama, the rising sun, the ocean, and the hills beyond. It was breathtaking in and of itself, but as she'd been running all this way, the teenager was plenty out of breath already. Still, with her height now well above sea level, she was confident there wasn't much left to her journey. Her brief rest gave her the strength she needed to carry on.

'I wonder if All-Might ever climbed stairs like these?' She found herself wondering as she neared the top, unsure of her progress until a sudden right turn gave rise to the tip of a building just up ahead. With renewed determination she sprinted, foolishly stumbling into a tree and also tripping on a step once or twice, but without losing any momentum. Her eyes were set on the top of the buildings - the rooftops, then the windows, the balconies! She came closer and closer to her distination, until finally, after what had to have been at least a half-hour of running, Azukina Yomodachi found the top.

She'd made it.

Finally.

Wind began to pick up around her as the realisation hit like a semi. Her dreams of becoming a hero were now right before her eyes, embodied by the school buildings before her. This was it. This was hero school.
For the past however long she'd been journeying Azukina had to stop herself from crying out in utter joy. But now she couldn't help it. Clutching her letter in her right hand, she raised her left up towards the sky, lighting a beacon for any and all who could see.

"YEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!"

It was a cry of victory. Tears were rolling down her eyes as her quirk shot off seemingly on its own, cooling the sky above, causing it to snow. But that just made her more happy. Eventually she calmed down, letting her left arm fall to her side, so she could wipe the tears away. Maybe she had been a bit too excited about it, but she couldn't help herself! So long as she didn't do that in front of anyone it was fine, right...?

Either way, she knew the way forward. The school hall was probably the biggest thing next to the gym, but was likely locked for the time being. Without much else to do unless she wanted to get out her things, Azukina placed her stuff by a bench outside, and began to stretch. No point in wasting a perfectly good morning for training, right?
(Arrived 6:50AM)

It wouldn't be hard for Mari to locate Azukina, doing push-ups in a gym uniform she'd borrowed from Mayuri's, looking like she'd been working out for most of the morning, even if others had arrived beforehand. She finished her set quickly, before rising to get a drink of water and noticing her fellow examinee, now both students. Seeing as the time was getting late, Cookies and Cream put the rest of her workout on hold for now, deciding to take a break and make good on herself to be... less of an ass to others. They already disagreed more than enough in the exams to warrant a negative relationship, and as she was in a good mood today, she didn't want to have things remain that way. Even if she was the most likely to ruin another friendship...

A light jog brought her over to Mari, as Azuki suddenly took the girl's arm and raised it, only to grab her hand firmly. She was the kind to believe in a firm handshake, even though she struggled with actually giving one. Still, she did her best, offering a smile to mask her inability to shake hands well. "Aha, so we've got another from the exams who made it! You're Legs, right? My name's Azukina. Yomodachi Azukina. Glad to see you made it too!" It was a simple introduction to be sure, but she didn't quite know how to handle a lot of social situations yet. Keeping things simple was probably for the best.
I'll get a post going tomorrow. I can work well with Blazermate or Bowser, though I'm thinking Blazermate because we can pole vault like insect glaive users

Awakening - pt.4

Tora's speech got a subtle groan from Minako, likely not loud enough to hear unless one were really close or especially perceptive. How does one even go about saving their friends without knowing where they are? In a world made up of other worlds, how does one begin to find the spirit of their former comrades? Obviously, they would need something capable of finding anything, but how do they find that? Where do you really begin?

It was a whole lot of directionless courage, though it seemed like the group had an idea of where to go. But unless they had a reason to continue past that, and just went with the flow, they wouldn't last long. It was painful just how alike this experience was. With each passing moment, something would remind her that she was back in square one, starting the same journey once again. If this was going to be a common thing then Minako had to get used to it quick, else she lose herself to her past, a fate likely worse than death for her.

Thankfully he was off before long, replaced by the Master of Master's, though his words did little to quell her suspicions of him. Sure, he wanted to help get her friends back, but for what reason? Something told the teen that the hooded man had plans of his own, and if that little eye could see the future, then he probably already knew she thought that. Unless, of course, she kept it to herself and didn't let anyone feel the same. She had time to decide what to make of him yet, and so merely nodded, closing her eyes after so he couldn't pick up on any subtle hints of her wariness. However this didn't last long, as Blazermate and Linkle gave Minako reason to open her eyes up again. Though the Aeon didn't say much, the Hermit was a little more talkative, which wasn't exactly out of the question for one. After all, it was just social isolation, and that could be represented in a variety of ways. Maybe she was compensating for a lack of people to talk to in her youth? The Fool couldn't say.

But from both their statements, Bowser was clearly the Tower: the giant pillar of (reptilian...?) strength, both physically and emotionally. Not hard to pick out from among the crowd, even if there were others who could fit that description. Great guess on her part.
The energy beam that had been attached to her body awhile now was filling her with renewed strength, but strangely only up to a certain point. After a little while she simply didn't feel any different from before, no matter how much Blazermate may have felt it was making a difference. It's easy to get a feel of your peak and your floor when fighting is a huge part of your life, and Minako was far from her peak, but definitely felt better. Given this, the redhead sat up with yet another audible groan, letting her legs touch the ground on her own. A little wobbly, but overall working, just needed a stretch. "Thank you," her tone was genuine, if a little tired still, "but I think this is as far is it gets for me. Sorry, I've just been... really, really tired lately. I'll be fine."

As though to prove this the girl got to her feet, almost stumbling to the floor if she didn't catch the naginata propped up by the tent. It was a sight for sore eyes, as was the Evoker and holster lying nearby on the ground. Naturally the Master had disarmed her before or while she was tied up, otherwise there was a chance of being attacked by your own captive. Maybe he was smarter than he let on? All the more reason to keep an eye on him...
"Hah. Sorry. My legs are still asleep. I can walk though, so you go catch up, I'll be there shortly."

Would she really?
Maybe.
But was it such a good idea? Maybe not. Then again, she didn't really have a choice, considering the state she was in. She just had to hope she got along with everyone, really. With some renewed strength, the holster and her Evoker were returned to their rightful position on her right leg, and her naginata, thankfully bearing a strap, along her back. With everything in place she had a decision to make: follow the rest or forge her own path?
Well, it really wasn't a hard decision, at least not this very moment it wasn't. Though her pace was a little stiff and slow to begin with, Minako gradually settled into a more relaxed and natural walk, not necessarily quick but enough to not fall behind. It was her first real time seeing this world, though the landscape had little in the way of eyecandy. Maybe somewhere in this world was Tartarus? If she were to head off anywhere on her own, it would be a massive tower in the distance bathed in green, because at least that was familiar. All this just looked like something out of a video game...
