Bio
Been writing for years. Waiting for the day that I get "good" at it.
What I expect of you:
1. Common courtesy. I haven’t run into many unkind people on here, but kindness is only one part of courtesy. I also expect that you will make a decent attempt to answer my OOC questions/comments. I would appreciate a heads up (if possible) if you are going to be unavailable for an extended period of time. Finally, if you are bored of our game, just say so. I wear my big boy pants most days.
2. Thick skin is an absolute must. If I make a suggestion that something in our RP doesn’t make sense, or if I have to tell you that things just aren’t working out, please don’t be a drama queen. I promise not to be a jerk about it.
3. I would appreciate only people over the age of 18 contacting me.
4. By no means do I believe myself to be an awesome writer, but it would be great if you are as good as or better than me. Looking back over the years, I realize that my writing ability grew the most when I was matched with a superior writer. Since I’m looking to improve myself, you’ll understand why I’m so picky.
What you can expect of me:
1. I am fairly literate and I make an effort to proofread my IC posts. Though don’t be surprised if my OOC communication isn’t as polished.
2. I can commit to being available three times a week at least. I typically prefer to be online for longer periods of time and to get a lot of RP’ing done at once. But I recognize that’s not easy between differing schedules and time zones. Speaking of which, I am in EST.
3. I will happily contribute to plot and setting planning. That being said if I’m not careful I tend to take things over. Don’t be afraid to put your foot down on details and decisions that you feel strongly about. Besides, I appreciate someone who is just as active as I am in contributing ideas.
4. I can play either gender and typically prefer my main character to be male. **HOWEVER** If you have a habit of telling people, “Sorry, I really only want to (can) play female” then please don’t bother contacting me. I feel it shows a serious lack of creativity to limit yourself to one gender. Besides, playing multiple characters is almost always required if the RP is going to have any depth to it whatsoever.
Preferred Platforms: It seems the platform of choice around here is PM. That’s fine with me. However, I am most interested in doing an RP over TitanPad or a similar program. TitanPad is really cool because it allows us to type in real time to each other in a streamlined document. In addition, there is a live text box to the side of our main document that is perfect for OOC chat. If you’re not familiar with this platform but are curious, let me know. It’s really easy to learn how to use and of course it’s free (you don’t even need to make an account).
Genres and Settings: Things I don’t like Anime Most Fandoms Slice of Life Steampunk Dystopian Society
Things I like a lot Post-Apocalypse Historical Time-travel Wartime
(Rough) Potential Plots: I am currently interested in doing a “woman thrown back in time” type of RP. The year/setting is flexible but I think I’d be most interested in Norse, Medieval, Roman, Greek, Hebrew, Western.
I am always up for a good post-apocalyptic RP. The focus can be heavily upon the element of survival, or it can be more political such as in the case freedom fighting or territory wars.
If after reading all this you are still interested send me a PM with the following… 1. A sample of your writing 2. Your current time zone 3. Preferred platform (PM, Titan Pad, E-mail) 4. What kind of RP you are most excited about 5. What type of character you would potentially like to play
So, I mentioned a while back (during the first day of interest checking I believe) that I may be interested. Here is a partially completed CS. Let me know what you think so far. Or I may just finish it before you have a chance to comment.
Basic Information
Name: David Buhr Age: 28 Nationality: American Ethnicity: German Descent Sex: Male Height: 6’ 0” (1.82m) Weight: 175lbs (80kg) Eye Color: Dark Brown Hair Color: Chestnut Brown Physical Disabilities: Chronic Intermittent Migraines Physical Identifiers
Beard
Rough, calloused hands
Light birthmark under his left eye
Wears a chain around his neck with a set of wedding rings
Appearance: David is a man of slightly larger than average build. His affinity for junk food is majorly offset by the physical requirements of his blue-collar job. His brown hair is thick and would be quite wavy if he were ever to let it grow out. The rest of his body is also covered in a generous amount of hair. He has a round, button nose, square jaw line, and tall forehead. His teeth have been well cared for. His hands are rough and a bit dark around the fingertips. Finally, David is without tattoos or piercings.
David was born and raised with his younger sister in the state of Washington by his conservative parents. His life was relatively stable in a middle-class white neighborhood. Like most teenage guys, David spent his time playing sports (baseball in particular) and video games. When graduation time came up, David applied to a community college at the insistence of his parents, although he only attended part-time. David found college tedious and the debt he incurred was frustrating. As monotonous as the work was, he preferred his days off spent working at the tire factory. Though he had no idea what he planned to do with a degree in general studies, there was one saving grace to higher education: Lisa. David fell head over heels for Lisa when they met at a Huskies home game. Every moment of free time was spent upon her and though his grades suffered, David was happier than he had ever been.
A year later the pair were engaged, and David was on the brink of academic probation. He dropped out of college and began working on the line full time. Since he was frugal, David reasoned that he could provide better doing what came naturally to him. Within weeks he had purchased a modest home on the outskirts of Seattle. Lisa was quietly accepting of this plan, or so he thought. Weeks before their wedding date, his fiance informed him that she was not willing to “resign herself to a mediocre lifestyle”. Despite his desperate promises to change, the wedding was off. Within a month David learned that Lisa was with someone new. He was devastated.
Six years later, at the age of twenty-eight, David still works at the tire factory. He doesn’t complain and has an excellent attendance record. Free hours are spent at home in front of his television screen playing games or watching sports. He has a good friend, Paul, who occasionally takes him out. But David has never been interested in taking chances with women again. Instead he makes himself comfortable in the home that would have been his and Lisa’s.

Skills:
Stamina: David is used to hard labor that lasts all day, every day. On the upper margins of average size, a brigand might seek out an easier target.
Basic Survival: David’s father often took him on extended back-packing trips into the mountains. During this time, David learned some survival and sustenance techniques.
Talents:
Wisdom: David is good at recognizing when his opinion is required and when it is not. If he cannot reconcile himself with a friend, he will distance himself rather than fight it out. This has kept him out of trouble and many unnecessary disputes.
Clean-Cut: David has lived life on the straight and narrow. Some may say that he is a bit boring. Still, this has lead to a remarkable lack of baggage.
Other Disabilities:
Hermit: After losing his fiance to a nasty break-up, David has spent the past several years as a relative recluse (Much to his mother’s dismay). With no strong emotional relationships outside of his family and best friend, David has a hard time connecting with others.
UPDATE: Not finished yet, but let me know what you think so far. What is missing/superfluous. I may wait to explain David's experience with "The End" in an initial IC post, unless of course you want an explanation in the CS. But just for the sake of preemptive defense, David got the majority of his convenient starting gear from his mother and father's house. He himself was not particularly prepared for the apocalypse.
How about Gewain? Given that Partisan is no longer a part of this RP, you could take him on permanently. I think it'd be interesting given some of the similarities between Gewain and Sarah.
I could do that :) Gonna need some time to read up on his posts though. I want to make sure I get him right. Of course, if I'm gong to adopt him as my own, I'll assume a bit of leeway for character development.
No worries, I take ages myself haha. Just writing about her being scared and feeling useless adds more to the story, so don't feel like your not contributing! Besides, I'm sure Sarahs time will come.
If you want to take over an MIA character you are more than welcome to. Any particular one interest you?
I have no particular interest in any of them. Why don't you let me know which one would be most helpful for you? I do feel that Gawain, Shikoba (Maybe less so because of all the lore involved), Orwen, and Drusus might be the easiest to do. Their bio's are very fleshed out and that helps a lot. I can do one or two. No difference to me. I'd rather do that and have more to write than try to find another RP to join (additionally).
Finally posted. Sorry it took so long. To be honest, I wasn't feeling particularly motivated. My character doesn't have much to do/contribute in scenes like this. @Fat Boy Kyle Maybe I should take over one of the MIA characters?
When the company had first caught sight of the undead, the fear was nearly palpable. What they faced before them was no less than a horde. Sarah was certain that they would be given orders to hide or run.
“There are too many!” She heard Chester say.
Sarah was distracted by the terrible shrieking coming from ahead of them. She wished the leaders would keep their voices down. Instead Lady Buxton was shouting orders at the Consano. A few moments later, the company began moving toward the wall! The healer was so startled by their sudden direction, that she found herself asking those around what was happening. No one seemed to notice however, and instead swords were being drawn and shields brought to arm.
The young woman kept a reluctant pace with the company and soon found herself trailing behind the group. She strongly considered breaking off to find a place to hide. Anger and panic welled up inside of her as Sarah remembered how Chester had agreed that she not be involved in battle. Had he forgotten her limitations?
The healer glanced behind her for a moment and realized that the undead were not just before the Consano, but also around it. Too late to turn back. With that realization, Sarah whispered a prayer to the God of Light, and raced to catch up with her companions. She reached them just as they approached the first wave of infected. Sarah pressed her way into the middle of the pack, making certain that she was never on the outside of the group. Snarls and screams, as well as the slashing of black blood was rampant. The young woman did not care to see where it came from, she focused only on reaching the other side.
As the fighters broke off and spread out, Sarah was confronted by the large wooden wall which Gwen was already scaling. Sarah drew her long knife and backed against the fort while she waited. Before long, a rope was lowered and Sarah climbed with impatient assistance from men above and below her. Reaching the top, Sarah rolled over the railing and tumbled to the ground. As more of the group reached relative safety, Sarah rose to her feet and clutched the banister. Down below, Zacharias, Buxton and Chester continued to battle the putrid creatures.
“They’re still down there!” She shouted at no one in particular, her panic rising. She despised her own uselessness, wishing she had instead devoted her life to archery. After several excruciating moments, all had ascended except Chester. The knight fought furiously, surrounded on three sides.
“Stand Back!” A scorching blast of fire illuminated the air. Sarah jumped in fright. The undead near Chester squealed and writhed in pain as their flesh burned. The healer helped the others hoist their leader up the wall. Though the Knight was finally safe, his face was hard, dangerous, and focused on the hooded man who had traveled with them.
Lady Buxton ordered Sarah and the others to follow Chester to the gate. The idea was to fight off the undead should they press past the barricade. Though she followed, Sarah had her mind set on finding a defensible position for herself. What use these pagan soldiers thought she was going to be in this fight was beyond Sarah.
