Team Botan NakanoKamui Kaiyou | Makaira Kumonga | Arisu Ayaname
_______________________________________________

"Hah! Read 'em and weap, Maka", said Ari grinning from ear to ear and placing a flush down on the jagged and slightly inclined rock they were using as a table. Ari was short, so she'd had to roll another rock for use as a chair, if she was going to play sitting; but now she was sitting pretty. She'd won a few games earlier, but overall, Maka had her well in the hole. Luckily, she'd managed to stay in it and fight back. With this win, she'd be in the lead again as she'd cleverly chided Maka into going all-in. Then SHE'D have to do all HER chores for the next week!

"I didn't think you had a flush...", Maka replied with a frown, "...I thought if you were going to go all-in you'd at least have a full house!"

And Maka revealed her own cards, each of her six arms bringing down a single card one at a time, making a total of four twos and a king. Her head was resting on her final hand and a smirk crept further across her face with every card... just as the color and joy drained from Ari's face at the same time.

"Eeeeeeeeeh!?!"

"I like my underwear folded into balls, not triangles, Ari."

"Eeeeeeeh...."

A little farther off from them and closer to the woods, Kamui was poking at the fire with a stick. It was little more than embers and what remained of the twigs he'd occasionally throw in. They'd spent the night out there waiting for the Leaf shinobi, but they didn't need the fire now. He was only keeping it going to stave off boredom. He knew better than to try to play cards with Maka, she only ever lost when she wanted to. He'd tried to warn Ari, but she said she wouldn't back down from a challenge like that. It was expensive to have that much pride. Kamui was glad someone could afford it... even if it was on credit.

Nakano-sensei appeared out of the trees from behind Kamui and sat down next to him.

"The Leaf shinobi are approaching", Nakano-sensei announced. He had a soft and wavering voice, but all three of his genin heard him and turned. His eyes were a little wider than usual and his voice wavered a little more than usual, but he had a wide smile on his face.

"Tenshi-kun is with them... Maybe Okasa...-Raikage-sama changed her mind...", he said to nobody particularly. After spending nearly a week out in the woods, they'd all gotten to know each other well enough by now. They were within the Land of Fire, so they'd been on the move near constantly since they'd arrived, but they couldn't stray too far without losing track of their quarry who were just as interested in not being found. This was the longest they'd stayed in one place and it was a pleasant change of pace. The kids could tell that there had been something on their sensei's mind, but whatever it was, he wouldn't talk about it. At most, he'd wave it off and say something like "Oh, my face is just like that."

This was the lightest he'd seemed since they'd been placed under his command a little more than a week ago.

The first to enter the clearing was a man with an odd spear on his back and a vacant expression on his face. As soon as he arrived, he bowed and announced himself, "Greetings from Konoha. I am Hideo. The rest of the shinobi should be arriving in a moment..."

And soon enough, two teams of Konoha ninja emerged along with... Botan Nakano was on his feet when his brother arrived and he approached quickly, but timidly and said, "Tenshi-kun! It's... good to see you."

"Why don't we talk and let the genin meet among themselves, hm", said the man that had identified himself as Hideo.

"Y-yes...", replied Botan, looking a little nervous. He gave his own genin a little point with his nose to the other genin that had arrived, but they seemed a little wary of the newcomers as well.

"Let's... get down to business then...", Botan replied, leading the jounin just a little ways away.

Hideo Sarutobi"Compromise is a lie told to abdicate duty."

It seemed that Hideo had made an impression. Between Tenshi's exasperation, Mizuraki's threat of violence, and Ichika's unmistakable warning, Hideo had stirred the pot. This mission demanded loyalty, however it wasn't his job to foster that loyalty but to evaluate it... along with... many other unmentionable things. Except to stare blankly, Hideo showed no response to the three's mildly hostile responses. He merely waited for their expressions to end and watched while they prepared themselves and their teams respectively. Ichika was the most gracious, which was unsurprising. He approached her and leaned a little closely and whispered, "You said you do not recognize me. It is because you do not have the security clearance. But I recognize you. If Seiji hadn't kept you from rising in the ranks, you would have my job! Yes, I only received it when you were blocked from the position years ago. So, in a way, Seiji wanting you for himself and stifling your career has made you my benefactor. Thank you!"

He gave the slightest of head nods and a smile and backed up, moving this time to Tenshi, who seemed to have calmed a bit since arriving. Hideo knew that his relationship with his village was strained. The reports from his various handlers over the week had formed the basis of a psychological profile which had been most instructive as to how the upper echelons of Kumo operated. No doubt Tenshi wasn't completely disloyal to his own village and he was surely sending information back, somehow, but there was a reason he'd been barred, so far, from meeting Seiji. His threat-level was still being evaluated.

"Hokori-san, you asked me a question and it is only fair that I answer it. You had asked why this mission was not passed through you first. But... It is only because the mission is not official and you were not intended to know of it. The council had decided that it was important that you be informed about it and added to it, but you were originally to be excluded from it. I will not pretend to know why, I am a simple shinobi. I go where I am told and do what I am told", Hideo explained, again leaning close enough that only those closest to him would easily hear, and a he bowed slightly. In truth, he knew more about the decision than he was letting on, but that seemed unimportant to the mission at hand. Tenshi was as informed as he needed to be and it was time to move out...

"Follow closely and quietly", he said to the assembled teams and sprinted silently out of the gate and into the forest beyond.

Remi Haruno"Ah... Don't you think the world will be a little brighter without you in it?"
_______________________________________________
"It is troublesome, the way that life can turn. Like an hourglass, sometimes what you think has to be turned on its head before you run out of time...", Remi mused to Bakuto, stroking his chin with his index finger, "Sensei, am I wrong to believe with such a mission, a shift like that has happened at the highest levels?"

Bakuto had certainly brought up some interesting points and it was true that the debriefing had done little to inform, only to put everyone on edge. However, Remi tried to view the current situation as an opportunity. After all, he would be on a top secret mission as his first of his career! He'd be working alongside Kumo-nin, which meant he might be instrumental in fostering peace between the nations. If so, and if the Kumo-rep (as he so referred to himself) was any indication, Kumo-nin were attractive and fashionable and Remi could only imagine what kind of styles would emerge from an alliance of the villages. The thought put Remi in good spirits, despite the negative tone around him.

But why should he feel poorly? His jounin seemed amiable and capable, once she was given the opportunity to lead, and his teammates seemed much the same! Bakuto was bright and a little mysterious. Remi had heard about what happened to Bakuto's arm and his eye, but Remi thought it only added to the eccentricity of his character. Hiro the Suna-nin was bright in another way, though one that lacked Bakuto's dark mystery. Hiro was the illuminating and sunny kind of bright. He had such an open friendly face and honest disposition, that, despite his foreign origin, the idea of being his teammate seemed a bit like a warm summer day. Hah! It was like being on a team with the sun and the moon. And that made Remi the earth? Or maybe the stars or the sky. He supposed he'd have to find out.

Mizuraki-sensei even saw it, assigning the two as twins of a kind, with Remi himself adapting to the needs of the moment. It was a scrumptiously devious gambit. With their skills combined, they would probably be like a storm, a tsunami, a hurricane! With the sun and the moon on your side, you controlled the tides of battle. Remi was in good cheer.

still accepting new players?

Welcome! And we certainly are!
Hello. Been awhile since I rped in a Naruto rp. I'm quite interested. I have a few ideas. Just whatever role you need filled.

Great! Glad to hear. Would you rather discuss here or over discord? Can go either way.

Emerging from the nearby trees, a man in a baboon ANBU mask approached the congregated shinobi at the village gates. On his back, he carried an omi yari and on his belt, he carried a short blade, perhaps a tanto or a dagger. He held one hand behind his back and another swung freely by his side. He gave an anemic wave as he came closer, which turned into a fist and then fell limply again.

"I have found you", he stated plainly to all involved, "You will be divided into team Ichika and Team Mizuraki. I have heard Ichika has her team prepared. Mizuraki is less competent. I hope that she does not rely on her natural talent instead of tactics. My first impression of her is poor."

He used no honorifics.

"I believe that honesty fosters trust. It is important for the genin to know whether they are on the more or less competent team so that they can make up for their leader's mistakes and missteps", he continued. He then paused, "Forgive me. My name is Hideo. I have been asked to act as representative and overseer for the council for this mission."

And it was only then that he used his free hand to remove his mask. Underneath was a surprisingly warm and open smile, "It is a pleasure to work with you."

The smile dropped immediately as his attention went to attaching his mask to his belt, but returned sporadically, flashing when his eyes met another shinobi and was just as warm and open, just as sincere, and gone just as quickly giving way to perhaps a bored expression. It was nondescript.

"The object of this mission is none of your concern. We are meeting a Kumo team at our rendezvous point, where further instructions will be issued as they are needed", he paused and turned briefly to Tenshi and said in a particularly friendly tone, "You'll be pleased to know that your brother-adopted brother- will be among them. In your absence, he's been promoted to jounin and given his own team", and then turned back to the rest of the assembled ninja, "We will be leaving as soon as Mizuraki is able to arrange her team into something capable of following the rest of the group."

Throughout, his hand never left his back, where it gripped his omi yari loosely.

Hello! I've just read your profile! I've a couple questions and clarifications, but she seems like fun. We can discuss it here, in PMs or on discord, if you prefer.

Hiro Hyuuga"A dog must obey. Stay down."
_______________________________________________
"Sensei, I must insist-", Hiro called out with every intention of stopping the man in his tracks. His promise to... p-put hands on Mori-san before she could struggle was in worse taste than he could bear. Hiro had downed her, yes, but that was because she needed to know that she was nothing to him if they were to be on a team. He hadn't then... put hands on her... he'd offered her his, which she would not take.

But his hand touched nothing. The man who had just fallen into a pond moved around his hand as if he were made of air and knelt besides Mori-san like a spirit. Who was this man? Hiro recovered from his surprise quickly, activated his Byakugan, and rounded the man, but was stopped in his tracks in surprise by what he was seeing. Far be it from anything illicit, he was healing the damage Hiro'd done with his blow, manipulating her chakra with the tips of his fingers, his palms. Hiro could see the dysregulation of her lungs and nerves, her tenketsu system, begin to right itself and Mori-san gasped for air only moments later!

"You look loaded, kid. That'll be seventy ryo", said the man who had called himself Kamoji. He was looking at Hiro with such a look that Hiro's lip curled for a moment and he released his byakugan. Just at that moment, Kani-san blundered next to him and shook his fist, gritting his teeth!

"Fiend! What have you done to her", he cried, which Hiro knew was impotent. If he'd so easily avoided Hiro's own blow and healed Mori-san's tenketsu system with such ease, Kani-san hadn't a dream of a chance of doing more than annoying this very dangerous man, and Kani-san was annoying at the best of times.

"Hold back. He healed her, Kani-san", Hiro ventured. Kani-san was too simple to understand anything more complex than a straight forward explanation. He did not have the capacity to read the atmosphere. He had all the subtlety of a bomb and Hiro trusted him just as much. But as if to strengthen Hiro's argument, Mori-san got shakily to her feet and stumbled away from Kamoji. Kani-san smirked and crossed his arms while Mori-san looked from Kamoji to her teammates wildly.

"Well! If that's the case", Kani-san said, carrying on, "You should learn to use your words better, sensei! Had you called out heroically 'I'll save her' or 'In the name of justice, I will put my hands on that girl', we would not have reacted so! In battle, it is important to be clear to your teammates!"

"So... Seventy Ryo", Kamoji repeated, picking his teeth, "Which one of you got it?"

Jin frowned and Hiro narrowed his eyes, was he being serious?

"Did you expect me to work for free? The village is paying me to teach you. They never said anything about my using my medical expertise. I'm a professional. I got professional pride. I'm giving you a discount", Kamoji continued, as if in response to the boys' baffled expressions.

In the end, it was Mori-san who took the seventy ryo from her pouch and threw it at him and, much to her surprise, he swallowed it in mid air.

"Aright kids! Get in a line or a formation or somethin'. It's the first day and I gotta figure out if you're worth teaching or not", he announced suddenly but with as much laziness as seemed characteristic of the man. Mori-san stumbled, still a little shaky, next to Hiro, though at arms length. Kani-san flanked Hiro on the other side, his arms crossed and his scarf annoyingly close to Hiro's face at times.

"Test is simple", Kamoji continued, grabbing and swinging around his giant hammer as lightly as a parasol, "All you gotta do is land a blow on me and you all pass the test. If you give up, you fail. Aright! That's all... Now... Uh... Start!"

Hiro thought back to the blow he'd tried to land earlier, the way it hadn't hit anything. Had that been a preview of things to come? Was this all a set up? He acted the fool, but Hiro was convinced that it was just an act. Even the name "Kamoji" was an act. It meant "Duck Man". It was absurd.

"Never fear! Jin is here! I will win this little test for you! For I am Jin, son of Gendo", and he leaped at Kamoji with a huge punch! Kamoji hopped on one foot, as if in a Kabuki dance pose and... began to sing...

"I am Kamoooooji!
I'll make you big and strong!"

While he was distracted, Mori-san aimed a kick to his head, which he flipped over and landed on the head of his hammer. If there was a moment to strike, it was now. Hiro aimed an attack at the handle of his hammer to disrupt his balance and would make a follow up attack straight at his center! But it didn't land. Kamoji's hammer tilted to the side and lifted, leaving Hiro striking air.

"Try to land a strike before I can finish this soooooong!"

BOOM!

With a sudden swing of his hammer... he sent all three children flying into the woods.
I'm on the same boat as Odin here.

I got an Uchiha in mind, going by plot standard, I know it's optimal to have 2 Tomoe Sharingan and 3 Tomoe requires more effort.

That aside, the skillet I wanted to do; Reflection because it's fitting.

What's the best option at the moment?

I'm quite flexible about roles here. I can work just about anything into the story. If you're going to have Uchiha Return then of course I'd recommend being at least jounin level, possibly head of clan, as it requires an Uchiha heirloom. I'm somewhat more critical of higher level characters than lower level ones, so you know.
I'm looking at the characters as they are and I am still a little confused on whether I am meant to make a genin, chunin or jonin. Realistically I want to re-work Uragiri Sakana into a character here, but I think that any of those three characters could reasonably be re-worked and made different/less powerful to put into this RP. Some (all?) of them would require approval from @Desdamin since they're all very customized and have specific hiden or traits that either need to be approved or removed.

What do you guys think would be the best role for me to fill, at this moment?

Well, we can always use more genin. I'm pretty flexible. It may be hard somewhat harder to work with a chuunin, as I can't put them on a team and would be restricted to missions and off duty play, likely. I've read the profile. If you like, we can discuss further on discord. Just PM me the username.
