TEAM BROCCOLI

@Crimson Raven @Damiann47 @Jay Kalton @Magnato

Andica stomped off into the temple, barely pausing to listen to Spook's speech to the group and subsequent explanations. She was angry at herself for getting all riled up like this. She had made her choice, had the chance to go back, and turned her back on it. She couldn't go back now that the gates of Enn were shut behind her, so it was stupid to get upset now. She had to focus on her life here and now, as a traveller, whatever that meant.

That was a good, rational argument and all, but somehow it didn't make her feel much better. Figures.

"Can someone lend me a hand here?"

Great! A distraction! That was one of her teammates calling, and Andica didn't waste a moment in running off the source of the shout. What better way to calm down her, stupid, unruly emotions that to go and get caught up in answering a call for help, catching feli-somethings or whatever. Sure, she could do that. No problem.

Rushing back to the main group, Andica saw pretty quickly what the deal was. Kelsier had what looked like a few of the creatures wrapped up in a makeshift bag, and needed to get them into cages. She grabbed a bunch of them and set them down next to the soldier. She opened up the biggest one, and held it up with the door just over the end of Kelsier's coat/sack. Anything that got let out of the bag would go straight into the cage, and she was ready to slam the door on it. Repeat the process a couple of times, and that would be job done. No problem.

Other than the fact that powerless masks can sometimes/typically do have different shapes than their Great forms, and the aforementioned issues (unless her mask will transform when she does, as will those on my Toa, to a Kanohi Huna for Vhis, and a Kanohi Rahkuta[Mask of Rahi Control] for Hura.)

Fact checker on this bit:

Kanohi masks are made from kanoka disks, and the type of mask depends on the blend of disk types used. The power level depends on the power levels of the disks. It is then forged into a shape corresponding to the mask's disk combo to mark it as that type. The great and noble masks of each type have different shapes, but there is no designated shape for a powerless kanohi, so these masks are forged in either the great or noble shape, eve though the have no power (think of Hahli's kaukau and Macku's huna - both powerless masks, but one in the great shape, one in the noble).

This means that, when a matoran becomes a toa or a toa becomes a turaga:
The mask changes power level, which changes the shape.
The mask's power cannot change. It is still made from the same base kanoka, but has now moved to a different power level.

As a side note, it is possible but unusual to forge one mask in the shape of another. For example, if a mask were made from level 7 enlarge and regeneration kanoka, it would have the properties of a noble hau. The mask maker could then pour the molten mix in a great ruru-shaped mold, making that the shape of the final mask.

This isn't often done, as the point of standard shapes is that you can know what a powerless mask was made from just by looking at it. That isn't to say it never happens though. Vhis's mask may have been made from a blend of enlarge, shrink and freeze disks and then forged into the shape of a great volitak by mistake. This would explain how she thinks she's been wearing a volitak her whole life, but on becoming a toa, discovers that she wears a huna.

Suavo

Suavo had just found a promising stall when a small pebble plinked off his mask. Quick as a flash, he shot out his arm and caught the tiny rock in nimble fingers. Spotting the sheepish-looking matoran who had kicked it, the performer decide to introduce himself.

"Well, hello there." he began. "You know, I've just arrived form Po-Congro, and I think they'd be interested in this little custom. Throwing a rock at someone to greet them? I could see that catching on down south. My name's Suavo, by the way."

He extended his hand to her, then opened it to revel the pebble he had caught, and gently flicked it at the top of her mask.

Kumanu

Well, the little Bo-matoran seemed to be recovering well from his fall, which relieved Kumanu a great deal. He was up and talking, still a little flustered and disjointed, but seemingly uninjured and reasonably sound of mind.

"It's a combination of kanoka, cajolery and cleverness." Kumanu explained. "This little monkey, for example, had been pilfering fruit from storehouses at night, so all I had to do was set out some food and wait. A couple of weakening disks later, he started feeling very sleepy, and now here we are. I'm going to rehome him in the colony here, and hopefully the wild brakas will show him a more acceptable diet."

The Bo-matoran had introduced himself, so Kumanu responded in kind, taking the other matoran's hand and shaking it.

"Anyway, are you sure you're fine? It's best not to be out here after dark."

Yup. This is why the Toa Metru looked like Lhikan but the Inkia didn't look like the Nuva - they didn't use stones.
Surely they would have some idea though, maybe from paintings or sculptures of past heroes? We're certainly not going to have a matoran turn into an elementally-powered kinloka!

Though since Aiko is a nomad, her tree-speak might not be quite so heavy as that. Living among non-treespeakers would do that.

OK. I can roll with that. Either way, Kumanu the Ko-matoran wouldn't get it.

And hey, it lets me put in the "I'm not your brother" line, which is soon to change, so that's development.

Kumanu

"Whoa there!" Kumanu cried as he crabbed onto the floating cage and dug his heels into the ground to bring it to a halt before he ran over the other matoran. "Are you all right down there?"

"Oh, h-hello brother," The little green matoran stammered. Kumanu didn't think he knew him, but the term of address made him wonder. It was reserved for very close friends, or, legend had it, Toa on the same team. A second look confirmed that this wasn't someone Kumanu would consider a brother. The matoran must have hit his head as he fell and confused him for someone else.

"I'm not your brother" Kumanu stated gently. "But I'll help you anyway. Is there someone else here with you?"

On the subject, here's an extremely minor one for Hura's last post.

Brother/Sister – A title that roughly means 'partner' or 'comrade in arms'. The title is normally used by those who work closely together, or fight for the same cause, usually in the same group. Nearly all Toa call other members of their team brother or sister, and often continue to call each other by the title after becoming Turaga. Artakha and Karzahni also refer to each other as 'brother', though Karzahni uses the term bitterly.

Since this is the term he used to greet Kumanu, I'm going to assume that he's either mistaking Kumanu for someone else or is just that dazed.

Getting a post up now, by the way.

I will continue more research, but point anything out that needs fixing.

OK. I don't mind being a fact checker.

Hi Mr. Tree!

If you're still looking for Kanohi, here's a list of all the canonical masks and their names and functions. Actualy, this wiki is generally brilliant for any research into BIONICLE you might want to do.
