Dipping her head, Elysia cut open another grunt as a whole row of them exploded, courtesy of the guy with the axe. He'd said something before about it not being a crossbow.. hell no it wasn't a crossbow.. it was a lot more effective than a crossbow for sure. She stood beside the other man as the Great Jaagi turned towards the two of them. Elysia scrunched up her nose, the scent of Jaggi flesh was definitely not pleasant. Swearing colorfully under her breath as she Great Jaggi bit into the man. Shit.. shit shit..

Before she could do anything though, the man grasped the sharp part of the blade with his hand and jabbed it into the Jaggi's head. Well shit.

Wandering over to the Great Jaggi, she dislodged her axe from his head. It should be sharp enough for just.. one more thing. Not trusting the thing was dead, she hefted the switch axe through the creature's neck. Since the blade was not very sharp anymore, it took three swings of the blade before the creature's head rolled down the hill and to the remains of the Kelpi she'd been hunting.

Staring up at the bizzare woman who said something about the monsters making a sacrifice, Elysia snorted impatiently. "Reema?" she set her bloody blade onto her back. "I came out here.. slaughtering a couple Kelpi. Bringing their horns back to the village for medicine. When that jerk decided to eat my kills WHILE i was still cutting them up. You have any idea how long it took me to stalk those Kelpi? I'm not as mobile as other hunters.. and my armor is loud. They made me lose my kills. So i figured.. bring back the head of the leader. And everyone knows, the best way to get a Great Jaagi's attention is to yell at it. They mistake you for one of their kind.. then try to fight you themselves. I've done it before. I might also kind of like to trash talk things as i'm killing them.. Though in hindsight i should probably have sharpened my weapon first." She shrugged casually. "I would have figured it out myself. I've been through rougher scraps than that before on my own, and i've been just fine."

Turning back to the man who'd been bit by the Great Jaagi she winced. "Didn't mean for any of this to happen. I swear. Jeesus.. i really fucked up this time." She stated. "You alright dude?"
hahaha well, she just assumed he could shoot things, because she'd seen one get fired before, she doesn't know how it works or anything hahah XD
@BCTheEntity

oooh neat, i love this idea.

we will see what ursa has to say about it as well.

sudden random urge to make a lava monster
@BCTheEntity

point taken. it depends on how far they have gone underground and where this cave is located if it will be semi-warm or not. I have been to a few caves before. From what i have seen and done, they are always significantly colder than outside because there is no sunlight to warm it up.
From what i have researched about caves: The only way heat may enter a cave is from overlying rock, underlying rock, air flowing into the cave, and water flowing into the cave. Seasonal temperature fluctuations above the surface of up to 80°F are reduced to only l°F at a depth of about 50 feet. Considering in some areas the overlying rock is very high above their heads.. this method of heating is pretty much out. Also, considering @Major Ursa mentioned something about the chilly water, and they are clearly below a couple thermoclines i would assume this means water is not a permissible way to heat the caves. Leaving only one valid method of heating the caves. Since the interior of the earth is hot, technically the temperature of the cave would increase with depth, however this would only be in an area with a fairly high geothermal gradient. We already know that there is water flowing through the cave. if these streams are flowing from the surface, they would be what regulates the heat or cool in the cave. and the deepest they could dive safely would be about 200ft, after which it gets dangerous and they need special equipment. Seeing as none of them were wearing dry suits.. they probably were going to 100 maybe 150ft. (it gets colder the further down you go, and you can get hypothermia and die if you aren't careful)

Basically there are two types of caves, and this one is looking like its headed for a cold/ice cave. Though we could have an area like the Crystal Cave of Giants which would act as the cave's core and heat the entire cave?
Beast boy tilted his head, his tail flicking back and forth as he took better stock of his surroundings. Nightwing, Green Lantern, Superboy and Raven. Well this sucked.. he managed to be stuck with the least entertaining four people on the team. Nightwing was... Nightwing.. he didn't really know Green Lantern that well.. Superboy tended to get way too angry way to easily, and Raven.. well.. he couldn't really get a good read on her, she tended to keep her emotions in check.

Shifting quickly into an Elephant, he used the sensitive trunk to try and pick up the scent of the others. Other than their lingering scent on their clothing, there was no hint that any of them were in the area. Moving around the room, he tried to sniff them out again, maybe he missed something. But that was impossible, seeing as the elephant has the best scent receptors in the animal kingdom. Shifting quickly back into a human, Beast Boy shook his head. "From what my nose said? They aren't here. Its just the seven of us.. which kind of makes me wonder where the other guys went. Definitely not anywhere around here. Maybe they decided to ditch us."

Beastboy then let his eyes wander, focusing on Raven as she attempted and failed to open a portal with her powers. Panic crossed her face for a moment. This was extremely concerning to beast boy, as she was always the rational and calm one in the face of pretty much everything. Wandering over beside her, he tilted his head to get a good look at her face. "You alright?" Even if they didn't get along sometimes, she was sill his team mate, and he didn't want her feeling upset or anything.

Flinching as Green Lantern said something, Beast boy sighed, waiting for whatever news he had to tell them. "Wait.. did your ring thing say something about alternate earth?"
Xanthia's face turned beat red as one of the other trainers made a comment about Anubis. It was difficult to be the trainer of a pokemon who almost never listened. Yet.. she still loved the little troublemaker, because even if he acted like he didn't care.. she knew from experience he did. When she'd been bullied in school, Anubis had dropped hot sauce in the bullies' drinks. When she'd been upset after the first Magnemite she ever bought passed away, he'd sat with her silently and hadn't made any trouble. She almost felt like retorting.. saying something short and snarky in return to this trainer. However, she was cut off as the Professor started to speak.

From here, he mentioned the two different pokedexes. Xanthia's eyes rested on the retro version. Looked just like her mom's pokedex. She was used to the interface on that pokedex. This would be her best bet on her journey. She wouldn't have to waste any time getting to know how to use it. She grasped the device in her hands, a small smile spreading across her face.

As the Professor spoke about catching another pokemon, Xanthia had to agree. On her team she had Anubis.. (who wasn't about to listen to her any time soon), Beep (who was a fairly low level considering she'd done little to no training with the creature), and an egg (which didn't count because eggs can't battle). She would certainly have to catch another pokemon just to make sure she wasn't relying on Magnemite to take a whole gym by himself. But she didn't want to catch a pokemon matching any of the types she had already. She was looking to have a balanced team. As all elite four champions she'd ever seen had balanced teams.

Heaving a sigh, she mentally flashed through various pokemon, trying to decide which one would fill the empty slots in her team. It was a lot harder not knowing what pokemon was going to hatch from the egg. Well one thing was for sure. If she ever came upon a Growlithe, she didn't care what the pokemon in her arms hatched into.. she was going to catch the creature. They were known for being loyal, calm, and protective.. everything Anubis was not.
@Leaves

is there a posting order? or can we post whenever we like? (should i wait for @Ciphra or post whenever?

just because i don't want to overpost ^.^
@BCTheEntity

i think this depends on what @Major Ursa decided your player kept or not. Since Ursa said my character had everything but the pendant, i assumed that meant she got to keep the wet suit. i hope that the characters are allowed to keep their wet suits.. as without them, they would all be in bathing suits. I can't imagine them surviving in underground caverns for very long in only bathing suits.they will be sure to freeze to death considering it is an underground cave.. that stuff is cold.. and little to no sunshine would get in. I am assuming monsters evolved to combat the cold.. but humans.. not so much. Unless there is some kind of secret underground steam volcano area which heats up caves system during the day or something

EDIT:
ignore me.. apparently my internet didn't update when people posted.. sorry about that.

EDIT 2:
Ps, BC, i love your idea with the orange soul. Considering i kind of imagined Xaria as an impatient person who cant sit still, this is something i can work with.

Name: Xanthia Flare Evergreen
Age: 17

Class: Trainer

Hometown/Region: Unova

Xanthia tends to wear simple red t-shirts and black jeans. She also has a set of combat boots she keeps her pants tucked into. If she is cold, she will pull on a faded grey hoodie or a green windbreaker. She often keeps her hair tied back in a braid to keep it out of her face.
She tends to favor functionality over style, and doesn't really care too much about appearance as long as she is comfortable.

Personality: Xanthia is something of a tomboy and tends to punch people when she decides she likes them. As a tomboy, she prefers the company of men to women, because she likes the same things as men do. She will become irritated if she meets someone who is too girly. She has a very snarky, sarcastic way of speaking to others and can often cause trouble saying things she probably shouldn't say.

Equipment: A simple military styled backpack with a sleeping bag tied to the top. Jammed inside the backpack is an assortment of survival supplies. These supplies include, two dusk balls, one pokeball, a fire starter, a trowel, water bottle, small flashlight complete with batteries, MRE's, a small pot, a multitool, extra clothes, a small bottle of Tincture of Iodine 2%, a windbreaker, and a hunting knife.

Pokemon Team: Gengar, Magnemite, egg (to be togepi).

History: When Xanthia was six, she discovered her mother had once been a member of Unova's pokemon league. Xanthia became furious of her mother's decision to abandon the league to raise her instead. From here, Xanthia vowed to become the pokemon league champion and surpass her mother.

When she turned eight, Xanthia's mother gifted Xanthia her first pokemon. She'd been secretly training a Gastly she'd nicknamed Anubis, giving Xanthia a little head start by evolving it into a haunter. However, her mother did not think to account for the fact the haunter would evolve. As soon as Xanthia grasped the pokeball, her new starter pokemon became Gengar. This lead to some serious issues, as the Gengar did not want to obey the young and inexperienced Xanthia, refusing to return to his pokeball. As she went to trainer school, Xanthia got in trouble frequently for Anubis pranking teachers and students. So she kept her head down and studied as hard as she could to prove herself.

When she turned thirteen, she decided she'd had enough with her pesky Gengar and tried to sell him or trade him away on the internet. While she searched the internet, she used her hard earned money to order a Magnemite, because she planned on replacing her Gengar. However, when the magnemite finally came, it was extremely sickly and weak. Within a few days of its arrival, the Magnemite had died. This made Xanthia very upset, as she'd only known the creature for a few days and she'd not even managed to name it yet.

Hating to see her daughter so upset, Xanthia's mother contacted the company her daughter had bought the Magnemite from and bullied them into sending a new magnemite. Needless to say, Xanthia was overjoyed when her new pokemon came in the mail, this one was healthy and in good condition. Her mother had secretly paid a little extra to the company to get a better quality pokemon for her daughter. Xanthia nicknamed this new magnemite Beep. From here on, Xanthia kept trying multiple ways of getting rid of Anubis, however, the creature and his pokeball always managed to find their way back to her. Until Xanthia finally gave up with trying to get rid of Anubis to his glee. In the meantime, her new Magnemite Beep was proving to be another challenge entirely. As she got to know Beep, she learned she had no idea how to tell its emotions. Every time it wanted something it would send bursts of electricity arcing through her body until she figured out what exactly Beep wanted. Not wanting to get electrocuted anymore, Xanthia spent most of the free time she had studying the subtle body movments of her Magnemite. From this she learned how to tell its emotions, which lead to her being electrocuted less and less, until the Magnemite ceased electrocuting her completely. For some reason, Anubis and Beep seemed to ignore each other's existence completely. Since Xanthia spent so long trying to understand her pokemon, she spent little to no time training either of them to fight in actual battles. Not that she could even dream of trying to train that pesky gengar of hers.

Xanthia finally graduated trainers school at the age of fifteen. She was one of the highest scoring test takers in her class, and impressed most of the faculty with her ingenuity. Now if only she could get control of that Gengar.

As a graduation present, her mother had one of her friends give her an egg. She then gave this egg to Xanthia, informing her on egg care, and telling her what to do when the creature hatched. For some reason, Anubis seemed unhealthily interested in the egg, even going so far as to take it from Xanthia and hiding it under her bed. After being mad the first few times, Xanthia realized Anubis was actually being protective of the egg, not trying to break it. So she allowed the ghost pokemon to care for the egg, because it kept him out of her hair, at least for a little while.

When she was deciding what region to explore, her mother casually mentioned Toppe. Hearing that their gym leaders were considered extremely strong, Xanthia made her choice and decided to start her journey here. Intrigued by the idea of becoming the league champion of a challenging region, she sent in her trainer application to be processed. She was overjoyed when her application was accepted and she was allowed passage into the other region. Since her mother had been on a journey before, she took her mother's advice and packed everything her mother had written on a list.

As soon as her seventeenth birthday came around, Xanthia said goodbye to her mother, heading off with two pokemon and one egg. All it took was a single 14 hour plane ride. A plane ride with Anubis causing as much chaos as possible.. thankfully one of the other passengers had a mightyena, and ended up sending out the creature to repeatedly use odor sleuth and keep her Gengar in check. Still.. the fact Anubis STILL wouldn't listen to her was downright embarrassing.
After a long plane ride, Xanthia was not pleased to discover she would have to ride a boat as well. Xanthia spent the entire trip on the boat chasing after her Anubis, who had elected to pick up her egg in his arms and start floating dangerously high off the ground. After an hour, she'd finally managed to wrestle her egg back from Anubis.

She clenched the egg against her body protectively, watching Anubis as he floated behind her, cackling. As they walked, Anubis flickered in and out of existence, making faces at those who were unfortunate enough to pass by. Before long, Anubis grew tired of just watching people walk by and he elected to act. Lifting a fully grown man by the seat of his pants, Anubis dumped him in the trash bin, cackling gleefully to himself. "Anubis!" Xanthia shouted, adjusting her egg into one arm and reaching for the mischievous Pokemon. Anubis simply cackled as he let Xanthia's hand pass through his face, before reaching for and successfully prying the egg from her hands. "Damn it! Anubis!" She yelled, moving over to help the man out of the trash can. "I am so soo soooo sorry about him. My Gengar is kind of a handful.. and i-"

"You need to learn how to control that damned thing or release it into the wild." the man snarled, before turning and leaving her alone in the street.

Xanthia slumped her shoulders slightly as Anubis cackled behind her, sailing around with her egg as his prize. "I tried that.. and he came back." she murmured. Then she whipped around, eyes narrowed at Anubis. "See what you went and did Anubis?" she hissed. Anubis only shot her a mischievous smile, nuzzling the egg happily. "Forget you." she grunted, turning around and heading off towards the laboratory. Breaking into a run, she managed to sprint into the laboratory right in the middle of what seemed to be the professor's introduction sequence. Leaning on her legs as she caught her breath, Xanthia wandered over towards the other two trainers, taking care to stand between them. Anubis floated the egg around her head three times while invisible before dropping the egg into Xanthia's arms and darting over somewhere else. His body appeared directly in front of Professor Pine, inches away from his face.

"Anubis, get back here!" Xanthia shouted, cradling the egg protectively.

However, Anubis wasn't about to listen to Xanthia any time soon, and remained where he was, a foolish grin spreading across his face as he cackled.

Xanthia groaned, bringing one hand up to hold her head. "Sorry about Anubis.. he just.. sort of does what he wants." she stated, exasperated.
