@The Spectre I fail to see how that is any different. You just described all the things people do with their racist "jokes." Sounds pretty hypocritical to me.

Just want to shout out I'm still here. Got a research paper due tonight so probably won't be able to post until tomorrow so I'll try to weasel myself back into the plot then.
Malik was slightly confused. Had he said something funny? The man didn't look like he was going to get violent thought so he decided the laugh was a good sign. "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance then, Tom. You're the first person I've come into contact with myself, I'm glad to see civility is still being practiced despite everything."

The man was right, though. The sun was practically down and he would hate to abandon the buck after all the trouble he had to get it. If the man was offering a place to stay it would be rude to decline. It'd also be nice to be around another person for once. "That seems more than fair. Thank you for the hospitality." He said and began dragging the buck into the bar.

@Menoitios
"Huh?" Malik replied equally dumbstruck for a moment. "Good Evening."

The man in front of him was indeed an imposing figure. Clad in full body armor and wielding a shotgun, Malik was smart enough to know when he was clearly outmatched. The panic that should've came with that realization never did though. If the man wanted his things or the buck he could've very well just shot him as he was exiting the building. He doubted based on this that the man was hostile; still, it was probably in his best interest to not antagonize the man at all. He was the the only living person other than his grandfather, that he'd seen since the world ended after all.

"Pleasure to meet you, sir. My name is Malik Cole." He dropped the buck in order to better interact with the man. "I apologize If I've been rude at all, but you are the first person I've seen in a long time. I haven't had much of chance to keep up with my etiquette training."

@Menoitios
Malik strode through the street his eyes focused on any trace of his prey. The town wasn't as bad as he had expected, not nearly as much dilapidation or corpses as he was expecting which was nice. Maybe that meant there were other survivors, maybe even his grandfather was still in town. He would have to look more into both possibilities later, now catching sight of specks of fresh blood that was hopefully from the buck. He readied his bow as he turned the corner but stopped finding the buck on its side breathing heavily. He walked up to the animal, knife drawn and without so much as a second thought but it out of it's misery. Despite the chase the kill was clean and it only took one arrow, efficient just the way he liked it. The sun was practically down now though, there was no possible way he was making it back to the cabin before whatever the virus did at night happened. There were plenty of abandoned looking buildings around that would suffice, he was flexible after all. He grabbed the buck by its horns and dragged it behind him in search of a suitable place to rest for the night.
Finally posted! XD
Malik breathed a sigh as he watched he setting sun slowly descend into the horizon. He was running out of time. He turned his attention back to the trail of blood he had been following since he left his grandfather's cabin. Malik was a excellent shot with a bow, it wasn't even a matter of bragging it was simply a fact but his hunting skills were still less than desired. If he wasn't as skilled a shot as he was, he probably wouldn't have even manged to hit the spooked animal at all, the only solace he took in the situation.

The trail was growing thinner and thinner near the edge of the property. The good news, the animal was probably dead or close to right now. The bad news, it was now in town. He hadn't been into town since the virus started, he didn't even know if there were people alive there and if there were would they be friendly? He composed himself. If anything happened he would deal with when it came. He needed to retrieve the animal and the sun would be setting soon. He didn't have time to worry about it. Determined, he slung his bow back over his shoulder and followed the fading blood trail into town.

Name: Malik Cole
Age: 21

Appearance:

Personality: Solemn and disciplined due to his upbringing. This results in him not being able to convey emotions very well causing him to come off deadpan most of the time, despite being very helpful and polite by default. He can also be quite temperamental if something pushes him enough.

Short Bio: Born to an affluential family of a corporate CEO father and a respected lawyer mother, Malik had grand expectations set out before him even at a young age. Even though he never had to want for anything because of their wealth and status, His parent's instilled a strong sense of duty and respect in him right away, making it very clear to him that their lifestyle came from hardwork and that it would be his job to maintain that image in the future. He took their words and became the dutiful son, and became well known as a polite and respectable young man with solid academics. Even taking Archery as an extracurricular and earning multiple awards and competition wins. As part of their efforts to make sure Malik stayed humble, his parents would send him to spend summers with his paternal Grandfather in Salisbury ever since he was a child.
