@rush99999
you mean how very fantastic?

Anyway it's not a business suit, it's something else entirely but describing it further would spoil the surprise.

Regarding fortitude, the bandit had two points in it and you said that you get an increment of 25 stun and 1 pierce per point did you not?

Originally I wanted to make it classify as a katana because the sword looks katana-y enough like a handful of Chinese swords do. But I felt that was lame and went with saber instead. Anyway I thought like the tier was more quality than say sword types but whatever. Also, if you so desire to actually make a proper bard tree, I'm fine for play testing that as well.

Okay like I said I just misread, as long as it fits the setting I'm fine. You guys will end up with armor over your clothing later on anyways (more than likely at least).

Fortitude: Yeah that's what I said, so I'm not seeing why the stun should be 100 for the bandit? 2 points in fortitude is 25 + 25 = 50.

Tier is quality you are totally right, but the Tier I weapons are typically not so great unnamed things that just go with the class. More specialized weapons start coming in at Tier II, so I was more so suggesting we keep something cool like your idea for later. Having your weapon have a different name but the same stats as a regular saber wouldn't be a good idea in my opinion.

On a different note, added the first of the Short blades to the list. Dagger Tier I.

Modern clothing in a fantasy setting. How very strange indeed.

Ssshhhhhh, nobody knows ;P

How much strength is needed for a greatbow?

As I've mentioned earlier no stat requirements for weapons, just the related skill. So if you have Bow Tier I you can use a basic Greatbow. The thing about Greatbows and strength is their bonus is strength based instead of dex. So where most bows get a % boost to piercing based on dex, the Greatbow gets a % bonus based on strength instead.

Edit #1: Essentially the purpose of the Greatbow being strength based is so people who want to go strength for a melee weapon like a hammer, also have the option to use a bow at some point without also having to go dex or missing out entirely on the bonuses.
Anyway I decided to dust off an old character concept of mine and do something a bit weird. If it doesn't work I'm up for making another guy.

Also the bandit would 0/100 stun and +2 pierce resistance due to that 2 in fortitude.

Alright couple comments and concerns but after that he should be good to go.

Appearance: I could be misreading but that sounds like a modern day suit when the game takes place in a more medieval fantasy setting.

Musical Instrument: Someone suggested I should add a bard role to the game, guess a caster with a musical instrument works haha.

Starting Weapon: So to avoid confusion we'd have to call your starting weapon Saber, so the stats are the same as anyone else starting out and no one gets confused but I like the idea of a Chinese style saber, perhaps we can have Liuyedao be a named weapon (higher tier, with some bonus traits) that someone can get later.

Fortitude: If fortitude is 1 then stun would be 0/25 not 0/50.
There's a bandit. Not exactly my proudest work, but it's hard to work with brute characters for me.

He sounds awesome, looking forward to having him. I haven't created armor (skills yes, just not actual equipment) yet because you guys won't start with it but when I do you can add that to your bandit.

Combatant would be a Role and Brute would fit under said Role. You can look at the weapon types as sub roles but I didn't want to confuse people with that haha. But yes you have it right, Combatant would be a role.

Edit #1: Added a breakdown of how maps work and moving within them.

Edit #2: Oh shoot just realized you had a ? next to Stun@OtomostheCrazy. So stun is a gauge thing, 0/50 for example is what he would start with at the beginning of combat and if he took a total of 50 stun damage, so 50/50 on that gauge, then he would be stunned. Which means his turn will be skipped and he will be unable to dodge from any attacks. (So instead of missing, everyone will at least do minimum damage since he's just standing there stunned)
@OtomostheCrazy Since those are both under Laborer, doing activities for either would earn your Laborer experience so you could prioritize whichever you want and start spending points on the other later.

Also I would love to see your bandit, as well as others if anyone makes them. Would be cool to use them against your party or another at some point.

Edit #1: Added @OtomostheCrazy to the party list as well as Party Experience. Note that Party Experience is just 1x of what the party has earned, it is up to you to multiply that by x2 or x3 on your Primary and Secondary Roles. I'm just tracking it there to help you in case you loose track. If you're like, "Shoot what's my combat experience?" Just look at the party's combat exp and multiply it by 1x, 2x, or 3x, depending on if you have it as your Primary or Secondary Role.

Edit #2: Just to be clear, the experience you guys earn is shared with the party. This is like a shared knowledge based system essentially. You can look at it like this, if you go to cook a fancy meal you might not know how to cook it but if one of your party members is a professional cook then they could help you and tell you what to do. That cook learns about cooking at a faster rate than you do because that's what they specialize in, that's their focus in life and yours may be different but you still have some of their knowledge rub off on you from being around them.
Uh...Is this still accepting?

Always! Parties don't currently have a cap and we can always add more parties n_n

My main job will be to create parts of the world while you guys play in it. I'll be your dm for now but eventually every party will have their own dm :D

Edit #1: Added 26 weapons to the op, mostly Tier I's as that's what you will start with. Every weapon type should have a Tier I now except for Short Blades which I'm still working on a balance for.

What counts as dex weapons by the way?

The weapons work a bit differently compared to other table tops. Weapons don't require dex or strength to equip they require the related skill, so any Tier I sword would require the Tier I Swords skill. That being said there are still technically "dex" weapons. Anything that does piercing benefits from dex since dex increases piercing. You will also find named weapons as you hit Tier II and above that have locked traits. Here's an example of a possible named Rapier...

Other weapon info...
Traits:
Flurry - Active [7 Dex] (Per Engagement): Attack a single target repeatedly, each sequential role suffers a -3 roll result (-3, -6, -9, etc), a miss ends the Flurry of attacks.
Puncture - Passive [5 Dex]: A critical role punctures a hole in the target's aura, their max aura is capped at the amount shown after your critical attack for the remainder of the battle.

Let's say that's a Tier II Rapier with those traits, you wouldn't need Dex to use it, just Tier II sword skill, but Dex would benefit that weapon.

Edit #1: Just to add, weapons that do stun would have locked traits based on strength, weapons that do pierce would have locked weapons based on dex. You won't end up with a Hammer that requires Dex for its locked traits.

Edit #2:

I've created a folder on my google drive for your guys' party. There's a copy of the role sheet for each of you, @manapool1, @Jerkchicken, @Torack, @JELDare, and @rush99999. There's also a role sheet that just says Party #1's copy. Whenever I update the role sheet to add new skills I will replace that Party #1 copy with a new one. You guys can then update your own role sheets whenever you get the chance. Everyone's file is on my drive so if you ever get confused about something or find an error I can open the file and work on it for you, but it should be striaghtforward enough that you guys can do everything on your own. The main thing you will do is this...

Select a Skill

Select a Dark Graident to show you own that skill

That's it. Should be simple but if anyone gets lost don't hesitate to ask me a question!

Here's the link for the folder n_n
@rush99999 Fahall looks good and I like that the backstory is a unique idea that fits in with the world without the typical "I rode a boat here" story I've been using. I'll add him to the party list by your name.

I've been running some errands today and still have a few more to do but I'm going to get the Caster Role setup and then I'll make copies of the role sheet for each of you so you can all have links to those in your character sheets :D
(Is it a double post if they're two days apart? :P)

Alright, the rl campaign was quite a success! We were supposed to play Kingdoms of Khoyee for a couple hours and we ended up playing it for five and had to leave because the store was closing haha. The beginning flaws were made clear to me and I'll be working those out. Some roles, like Beastmaster had an issue where if you didn't have the first skill you couldn't earn Beastmaster experience, and if you didn't earn experience you couldn't unlock the skill, so that will have to be fixed. There's plenty to work on but the game is fun and that is the main thing when it comes to making something like this.

On a different note I wanted to announce...

THE BANDIT MAKING CONTEST

Starting Monday (when the rp begins) and concluding Friday night 6pm PST, you guys can come up with character sheets and skills for bandits. I'll go through the list and pick out some of my favorites and those will be added to the Codex under characters. Those bandits can, and will, be used for any of the campaigns going on with any of the parties. Those bandits can end up getting killed, hired by another party, or a number of other things that your creative minds come up with.

Creating a Bandit
  • Bandits, much like any other NPC, bandits are just like players. They have the same stats and Roles to choose from. The only difference between an NPC and a player is they have no primary and secondary bonuses towards experience and thus will eventually be outranked by players even if they live just as long.
  • Bandits shouldn't surpass Tier III gear and it is recommended you keep it to Tier I and Tier II so new players can fight them early game.
  • To submit a bandit simply post the character sheet here on the forum with the heading, Bandit Contest Entry
  • You can submit any number of bandits you come up with, just make sure you have a good understanding over how character leveling works so your bandits make sense compared to players. Bandits that do not follow the rules and guidelines will not be accepted.

Prize
Pride in your work! Really though your bandits will be placed in the world and I'll try to inform you on their status be it killing players or kicking the bucket.

Starts
Monday, April 30th 12PM PST

End
Friday, May 4th 6PM PST

Alright guys that about does it for me tonight. I'll work on some more things and get us ready for Monday!

-----
Edit #1: I've got a todo list of things that need done, short blades need worked on, Casters needs skills, and you guys need some maps to play on. I do have a concern I need fleshed out and I'm open to ideas from you guys.

As you know my goal here is to have it so multiple parties playing at the same time and so far that's looking good. We have a party of 5 here on the forums, a party of my friends that has six people, and then a small party of two of my brothers playing. So that makes two offline parties and one online one. When it comes to interactions we can work through those, I'm not sure if you're on discord but most of my friends are so if we ever have pvp or something we can setup a day to do it there. That's no problem, the issue is time progression.

In an MMO when you go offline your character vanishes from the world, but our characters can't just vanish here between post or between sessions offline. They have to remain in order for this multiple party system to make sense. My current thought is to make real life days equal a set amount of in game time, like 1 rl day equals 1 in game hour, or something along those lines. That isn't a perfect system though so I'm open to suggestions and see if we come up with anything.

Alright guys take care and with luck I'll be able to get you started on your adventure tomorrow!
@manapool1 Alright awesome, I'll add you to the party list!

Edit #1: Added a party list to the bottom of the OP. Later we can come up with a party name instead of #1 n_n

Edit #2: Working on the Beastmaster Role now n_n. One of my personal favs.

(Fixed the typo for Pack V)

Edit #3: Significant additions made to the Roles Diagram

Starting my in person campaign with friends today, should show me any flaws of the early game and I'll adjust that here. n_n
