Anise's jaw dropped as the tree grabbed Morly so violently. She quickly pulled her mask down and grabbed Morly's mask. She quickly pulled her own mask over her face and approached the tree cautiously. She reached out towards it and focused. She concentrated as she reached out through the Spirit lanterns power and touched the tree with her mind. She was briefly shocked by its mind as all she could pick out was rage, hunger, and hate.

She told the tree. "Put him down. Let him free." Her tone was calm and commanding. As soon as she got close enough, she shoved the Frog Mask into Morly's stomach so he could grab it quickly. She then got closer to the carnivorous tree approaching its side and touched it gently with her now free hand. She shoved into it her will to protect and save. "It's OK. Morly's a friend." After everything she had been through, Anise wasn't going to let an angry tree stop her from her goals. She soothed the tree the best way that she knew: her strong emotions and the assistance of the Spirit lantern's power. She didn't want anyone to come to harm including the tree.

Anise stood between the newly returned lantern bearer and Reus. The red light of the stranger's lantern clashed with the blue light of Anise's lantern. She could feel her shattered lantern's desire to join with the Fire Lantern. The sensation was so strong that she had a hard time telling which feelings were hers and which ones were the Dragon's. She cleared her throat in order to help her clear her own thoughts, but to no avail.

Anise did not reach out with the Spirit Lantern's power to connect with the stranger's mind for fear of the Dragon attempting to do something through the connection. The lady seemed just as confused as she was when she first arrived in the Forest. Anise still felt mixed feelings. "Y-You won't hurt Reus again, will you?" She lifted the hawk mask off of her face and let it rest on the top of her head. The change in the clarity of her vision disoriented her for a brief moment.

The sixteen year-old's dress was in tatters barely covering anything that needed to be covered, total strips missing from the bottom. She wore a belt that was tightened all the way to the max and had an empty sword scabbard on it. Tied to the belt opposite of the scabbard was a rabbit mask. Her shoulder-length brown hair had twigs and knots in it from getting snagged. Her feet were bare and raw from the constant use. Her expression was one of cautious worry.

@c3p-0h
Vincent slouched after kicking the stone until he heard a woman's voice which caused the seventeen year old to stand up straight and at attention.

“Hey- You want one?”

He turned around until he saw a pretty tattooed woman holding out a pack of cigarettes in his direction. He grinned and nervously scratched the back of his head. He enjoyed taking every opportunity to get attention from attractive women and girls. He glanced over towards Randy whom made no movement towards them keeping his "safe distance" away from Vincent. It's not like he actually smoked the things, they just felt nice to his lips. He explained to Father multiple times that it helped him focus, but Father wouldn't have any of it and would confiscate them anyways. Vincent understood that he had a lot of energy and without the cigarettes to center him he'd be causing more trouble than he knew he should.

Vincent nodded quickly and pulled one from the pack. "Yeah." He smiled as he put it between his lips and didn't light it. Now everything came into focus. He could see the business-like man hurrying to a meeting he was probably late to. A nosy reporter snapped photos nearby. The tour group he had broken away from continued onward without a care in the world. That sunrise he hadn't cared about or even noticed finally came into perspective for him. The workers operated like clockwork as the robots monitored the area for discrepancies.

Vincent finally focused on the woman in front of him with a relaxed smile. "That's much better." He pulled the cigarette from his lips and extended his free hand for a shake. "Name's Vincent." The slight nerves he felt vanished now that he had his cigarette and all that he had now was confidence. Now things were looking good today.
@MsChimeric I'm having kind of a blast working on my response to your character. All I keep thinking is "I'm having a conversation with a real woman! One that isn't Mother or the servants/maids." :O

I keep chuckling at that thought XD

I don't think the Cocky Teen is actually an Awkward one though, so I probably won't do that.
I wanna find people, but the homeless raider is busy doing his thing!
North Hallway above Room 16

Aedin smiled at the metal on the wall as he heard the hollow echo. That was good to know, and definitely something he'd have to investigate with the proper tools if he could find them. He could care less about the lack of messaging program as the only purpose of the phone right now was to be a source of light, albeit a poor one. The light, however, was enough to work by. He could get some decent scavenging done right now which put a grin on his face.

He picked up an empty can of food and looked it over. The label had worn off completely, but cans made for a great alarm when put together. There were about a dozen of the things in the pile. Food scraps were here and there all of which were totally inedible. He couldn't use the cardboard for much, but the empty bottles and cans could at least be somewhat useful. He picked up every single one of the bags, of the seven he counted four of them didn't have wholes too big to make them useful. He split the dozen cans between two bags and then filled the rest with the empty bottles.

"I'll figure something out to do with you guys." His tone was smug. "Maybe I'll invent a new art form or something."

Aedin quickly paced back to Room 16 and put the bags inside right next to the door. He then looked over at the body and frowned. "I can't have you as a doormat. You'd just stink up the place." It took him some effort, but he started dragging the body back towards the sheet metal wall. As soon as he got there he'd leave it in the remains of the pile of garbage and start searching for actual living people.

I find myself very excited about future interactions with the Dragon, I'm so glad that Anise thought about turning the ability to mentally connect from the lantern onto the lantern itself. I could not ask for a more interesting turn of events I don't think.

Anise's tears of concern flowed down her cheeks as she gently pet Reus. The damage caused to him was horrific, but she was glad that it wasn't any worse. She nodded as Morly placed a jug next to her and explained that it was the healing water. She gently started administering it to heal Reus' wounds. "It's alright, Reus. It's going to be OK."

In the back of her mind she thought about her interaction with the Dragon. Something about it seemed off. Incomplete and intent only on its goals. The coldness of it made her believe that it operated only on rationality, not emotion. After she finished applying the water to Reus she took the lantern into her hands and stared at it. Dragon, I do believe what the Kith believe, but I also believe that something happened a long time ago that caused the Pirates to grow to hate and fear you. I do wish to return you to a whole being from your current shattered self. I want to help you. I know that there is a part of you very close, and I know that soon there will be another. If I can I will try to convince the holder of the red lantern to relinquish it to you, but I do not want my comrades like Reus to come to anymore harm from it. All I ask is for your assistance in getting to the next lantern as there are gryphons guarding it.

Anise rubbed Reus' belly after she finished applying the healing waters. "Just rest." She soothingly stated. "I don't want you to push yourself too hard. I need my friends to be well." She cared very much for the well-being of Reus. She then stood up and watched Morly call out to the scared holder of the red lantern. She turned her head towards where the poor girl ran off, mixed feelings in her heart. She felt that the red lantern was a very dangerous thing, not that the Spirit lantern was any less dangerous, but that the direct damage that fire could cause was terrifying. Never before had Anise seen such a color of fire. She did not want that harm to come to her or her friends ever again, but she also didn't want a scared and lost lantern holder wandering around to cause another fire by accident or otherwise. Then there was the fact that she didn't want anyone, stranger or otherwise, to come to harm from the dangers of the Forest, especially one that was new to the Forest.

She held her tongue and waited for the lantern holder to respond to Morly's calls and hoped that things would go well for everyone.
@Mokley I dunno, I think the brat's going to be the one getting a stun gun to the gut. :P
Vincent glowered as he walked around the Wall with no real goal in mind other than passing the time. This wasn't the first time that Father had sent him out with an escort to learn a lesson. The lesson this time was supposed to get it through Vincent's head that there were people worse off than he was and should work to help improve their lives, but Vincent already knew that there were people worse off and he didn't care. The noise here was awful and he didn't care much for the smell of the workers.

He glanced over to the escort that Father sent with him to babysit. Randy was the name he preferred to be called, but his name was Randall Tyne and was a real loyal employee of Father's. There was no way that Vincent was going anywhere Father didn't want him to for now. For now he'd just have to humor him. He had already broken away from the boring tour, so that was a plus. At least Randy didn't stop him from that freedom.

He watched half-bored as a construction manager was yelling out orders at workers. He mumbled to himself. "I wish I had a cigarette." Father had found them again and confiscated them. "God this sucks." He kicked a piece of rubble and watched as it flew toward a freshly finished part of the Wall.
