Vander recognized the reaction of disbelief and confusion from Rath. If there were no survivalists of his skill in this world then he was beginning to get a sense of his ability versus theirs. He felt mildly irritated as Rath passed his explanation off as an excuse. He was proud of his skills. He had worked to the bone to achieve them. He had truly earned his title and the abilities that came with it.

"I'm not exactly the compassionate type myself," Vander responded after a deep breath. "Should any problems arise, we are more than capable to handling most situations."

He watched Rath mount his horse and wish them farewell. Well, as much of a farewell as his horse would allow. Emergency packages. Disappearing population. Dark faeries. This certainly peaked his curiosity.

Vander glanced around to the others with an eager grin. "Care for some adventure? I think it would be fun to figure out what's going on.
I imagine the reward is quite very well worth it as well. Let's head to that adventurer's lodge and see what it takes to join in on the fun."
@BurningDaisies Awesome looking forward to reading it!
Panic rose as Arthur struggled to reach the surface. He just could not make it. Suddenly the swimming thing grabbed him and pushed him to the surface with great speed. He stared with an expression of surprise at the strange child for a while. He took a moment to catch his breath as he worked to stay on the surface.

Before the child resubmerged Arthur smiled and exhaled. "Thank you."

Arthur took the time to spin around and take in his options. There was the ship, except all sorts of monsters were exiting it while entering a tower on the island. The island had plenty of places to find refuge, however a sheer cliff face made further exploration nearly impossible. This dream was making this very difficult.

Would there be more monsters on the ship even after the passengers had gotten off? What kind of monsters would he find if he decided to start climbing the cliff? Was entering the tower even an option?

Eventually, Arthur decided that climbing the cliff was far preferable over being eaten by a monster, and he immediately began to swim for the shore. As soon as he climbed onto the beach he decided it would be best to wait until his clothing dried up first before he started climbing, and he found as private a place as he could to start taking his clothing off to wring them out. Once he felt comfortable enough with how dry his clothes were he would start his ascent up the cliff-side.

Peck stared, bewildered, at the young woman that until a moment ago he had thought was on the brink of death, who now sprang into a new purpose with all the fierce energy he had come to expect of her. He scrambled to his feet, his mind struggling to keep up, and stumbled after Anise. "What, wait! Free who? The Riders are out there, they'll have questions!"

Anise grinned as she stepped out of the tent. "The Lady of Light! Come on!"

Anise halted briefly as she saw the terrible presence of the Dragon. It was so tragic that she was in such a bad state. Anise could only feel worried for her madness. This was all the Lord of Shadow's fault. He had corrupted her body so that when her spirit returned she would be consumed by madness. Hope still lived though and it burned brighter than before now that she bore the light of the Lady of Light along with her own.

Something about the combination of the Lady of the Pond's rune along with the Lady of Light's gave her a sense of absolute calm and certainty. Now that she had seen the Dragon consume another Lantern and assume the illusion of her proper form she imagined it would be a while to completely reincorporate its power. This gave Anise time. Precious time needed to save the Dragon.

Peck took a few deep breaths, and he made a decision. He grabbed Anise and led her along the cliff to a stairway down the cliff's face. "There's a faster way to the Lake," he explained, with no room for argument. He brought her into a shallow cave filled with straw, where the gryphons were housed. He went to a dappled beast and quickly strapped a saddle to it. "C'mon, Doreli," he encouraged the gryphon, who moved with the stiffness of age, "show us that speed of yours."

Anise blushed as Peck grabbed her by the wrist and led her to a gryphon cave. There had only ever been two men in her life to touch her before she came to the Forest: her father and the priest that christened her. Her fiance had never seen her much less had the chance to touch her. The upcoming Riverforde Ball was supposed to be their first meeting since their engagement. At this point, she felt she preferred the touch of Peck over a stranger that she had never seen before.

Had she fallen in love with Peck? The thought startled her. They had certainly been through a lot over the last few days. She certainly respected him greatly. Not to mention the several times they had risked their lives for each other. She mounted the gryphon and held onto him while these thoughts were suddenly whisked away by the absolute exhilaration of flight.

They soared to their destination in great style and Anise found herself giggling with joy as the approached the Lake. She never would have experienced the wonder of flight had it not been for the Dragon. This only gave Anise more reason to save her.

Anise slipped out of her shoes as she approached the water. She moved forward slicing through the tension with a focused expression on her face. She stepped into the water until her feet were completely submerged before looking back at Peck. "There is a beast within the water. I believe it is the protector of the Lady of Light's prison." She faced the Lake. "I will overcome it like I have everything else." She concentrated on the Rune of Light and created motes of light to send them ahead to lead the way towards the stone coffin. Then she fully submerged herself and used the Rune of Water to propel herself swiftly towards the Lady of Light's prison.

She was prepared to defend herself against the serpent of the Lake with all of her power.

I hear you! I just wanted to check in and see how things are since we're so chatty in this OOC. Take your time, I'm sure we can be patient. :)

Immediately, Vander learned some valuable information. This was a great start to their first interaction with a citizen of this world in spite of the awful introduction. He wondered what form Tania would take if any. He had no doubt she could handle herself regardless.

He leaned back groggily and took in a few deep breaths, still trying to calm the adrenaline rush. "I'm Rath by the way."

Vander nodded in greeting. "I am the Watcher."

He had no problems with Whiteside being a cold place. A warm enough room would be plenty fine. He was battle-hardened enough that safe was not a huge concern. Battle-hardened? He had seen plenty of battles, yes. However, that was while he played YGGDRASIL. He barely saw any combat here, and that happened all at their entrance to this new world. Perhaps his hunch was actually correct. That would explain the sudden outburst of rage from Cain. It would explain the sudden talkativeness and expressiveness of Lena.

"Just a place to rest is fine," Vander stated. "We can take care of the rest. As far as your comment about not having a guide.
I am particularly skilled at wilderness survival in all types of terrain. I asked as we simply have found ourselves suddenly and mysteriously where we should not be."

It seemed that they had some options as to where they could go. He glanced to the others to observe their next actions and see what they wanted to do next. It was not his place to respond to the question of Rath.

How are things coming @Mokley?

Vander started moving shortly after Lena dove to assist the endangered rider. He held no anger towards Cain. He simply disliked a messy first impression with a new people. The Watcher stepped in to assist where needed, but Lena appeared to have everything under control for the most part. He felt some surprise at how calm he was under pressure. Warrick would never have been this calm in any real life situation. Maybe it was because he was in the game? He always had incredible focus while playing.

"Perhaps," Vander responded to Cain's last statement. "Either that or we are exactly what we are."

He scanned the horizon for anyone else that may have seen this situation unfold. Unwanted guests would only cause more problems. The rider had been traveling at a quick pace, so either he was running from something or he was delivering something urgent. He had no responsibility for the rider, however if anything happened to his team there would be hell to pay. He trusted Lena to handle the rider well enough and for Tania to add some levity to the situation. He could tell Cain would be fine for now.

"At least he isn't dead," Vander commented neutrally. "It's possible he didn't even hear you, Cain."

Vander picked up the satchel and hat of the rider and returned them to him. "Here, this must be important."

He could care less what the contents were. The only objective here was the gather intel and goodwill. "We can get you to the village safe and sound. However, we are new to the area and find ourselves without a map due to unfortunate circumstances. We need information about where we are. Would you be bothered if you told us while we make our way to a warm and safe place to stay the night?"

I am back! (Have been for a couple days) Goodness it was a blast! I got 2 new board games: Witches of the Revolution a card game where you play the witches of a newly formed republic and you have to accomplish 4 major missions to stabilize the country, and Unearth a card game with some board game elements where you play one of up to 4 civilizations trying to reclaim your history by delving into ruins and collecting artifacts. I had at least 10X more fun than I've had any other year because I actually participated in a lot of things while in the past I did like 2 things and then wandered the exhibit hall aimlessly.

Looking at the cosplays was great too there were quite lot on Saturday. I met some awesome people too over the entire time I was there.
Ah! @Spanner I foolishly didn't refresh before I posted! XD I'll make any edits based on your post.
