Name | SimonAge | 15 Gender | Male Level/Tier | Tyro House | Appearance/Attire |
Because he grew up not always knowing when the next meal would come and because of a childhood illness, Simon grew up frail looking and thin. His skin is pale and white, due to spending most of his spare time doing chores indoors but his hands are callused from all the housework he used to do. Aside from his almost sickly looking body, he exerts a happy aura and a bright smile as if constantly happy.
He dresses casually in a thin hoodie and white shirt or a baggy sweater but somedays when he wakes up earlier than usual or he feels like that day's a special occasion he takes a few minutes to plan out an outfit that looks nice on him. This makes him partially self-conscious and internally he carries an awkward feeling when dressing up, hoping to all that is holy to not make him look like a tool or to stand out too much. Sometimes wears glasses but prefers contacts.
Alignment | CompanionPersonality/Habits | Simon is a very friendly and curious individual. He can easily become excited when seeing new things and he finds the academy an incredibly fantastical place that fills him with wonder. Simon's just happy being alive and tries to enjoy his life to the best of his capability while making as many friends as he can. He dearly values the people close to him and even if he doesn't know them, is always willing to help other people while getting to know them. To Simon, strangers are only friends he hasn't met yet. Hobbies mostly include reading (mostly high fantasy fiction), cooking and animal petting.
Background | Born an orphan at a young age, Simon never knew his parents what he knew was that he has family and that he was loved. He grew up with a dozen other brothers and sisters where they were raised by a kindly old man that took in young strays from the large town. Simon loved his family and most of all he felt deep admiration for his grandfather for raising them lovingly as his own children. Even at a young age, Simon knew life wasn't easy. At times hunger would plague the orphanage and rarely did they have money to spare for proper medicine when somebody got sick but they made do with what they had. Simon would try his best to help, always cleaning around the house, collecting herbs from the forest or making food from whatever the orphanage could gather. At times he would read stories to his younger siblings teaching them to read and write, at times his heart would ache to look at the thin, almost emancipated children who went hungry even when the older children gave them extra shares of food.
Years passed in the orphanage, the children would spend every day counting their blessings for whatever little they had. Sometimes the children wouldn't survive the winter, sometimes new siblings were added to their large family, at times the children grew into adults and left. They rarely ever returned to the family. One day their grandfather died and it was up to the older children, including Simon to support their family. They would work, forage and hunt in the nearby forest whenever they could and for a while, everything went well for a while and more often than not they had enough food. One day, a summoner on a mission in the nearby mountain met Simon by chance and identified him as having runic blood. The summoner listened to his tale then offered admission and training to L'Mordryn Academy to properly harness his powers. Simon was torn at the prospect of abandoning his family, but he knew that if he could become a high-class summoner he could make large amounts of money to provide for his siblings. After explaining the situation to his household, a screaming match broke out between some of the siblings asking him to stay with them but no matter how much they pleaded with Simon it could not change his mind. Sides were picked and midway through the argument, the young summoner decided to simply walk away without a word not knowing how to handle the situation. He took the bags he'd packed and left for L'Mordryn Academy, vowing in his heart to return when he'd have the strength and promising to always keep his family in his heart till the day he could help them have a better life.
