I want to specialize even more but I don't know how to word it. How does one specialize in ritual magic including long cast high powered spells, magical trap placement/disablement and plot rituals like whatever the BBEG's doing and how to stop it? What I'm specifically asking for is if I can be the magical traps expert without skilling into Runic or if there's no choice since I want to super-specialize without going into too many fields? I don't think that's possible since most rituals/traps seem like they'd have a need for runes written into a surface. Also I'm salivating at the thought of long cast high powered spells while having a general magic skill, school specialization and ritual specialization.
Simon

— Room 4, 4th Floor, House Phantasma Tower —

Simon looked back at himself on the mirror, his bloodshot baggy eyes exhausted from a week of heavy studying. He couldn't believe the figure that looked back at him, the once joyful and excitable boy looking like a haggard stranger. None of it was in vain however as yesterday he was finally able to summon his first elemental. The images of his family pushing him on to try his best in an art he'd barely even known about not weeks prior finally paying off. Mixed emotions filled him, guilt, fear and anxiety being ones he'd gotten accustomed to but finally, a tinge of warm pride welled up in his chest at what he'd been able to achieve. Simon looked back at himself and smiled, for the first time since he left his home the boy finally seeing a glimpse of who he once was.

He promised himself that for just this one day, Simon would try to enjoy himself. He could never forget the people he cared about nor if they'd still be waiting for him but for that one day, he'd resigned himself to be happy if only for his promise to Grandpa Peter. The young boy held his head up high, following the throngs of students aiming towards the cafeteria with a confident walk and proud gaze. Instantly he lost a tinge of his confidence for a moment as he awkwardly tried to follow behind the crowds without stand out.

Could you expand on the character form? Specifically what ages are the max/min or what age range you're looking for and which pokemon we're allowed/which are usually the starters. Also most people usually start their pokemon trainer career at 10 so If somebody wants to start their career they'd need to wait like 6 years just to be able to compete. Any preferred length for the backstory? Also for appearances, are we allowed to use/do you prefer we use pictures or descriptions?

@Kuro
Damn that was a pretty quick and well-written reply, thanks. I'll see you in like the 20th.

Need questions

1.) Since I wanted a mage, I took one skill slot for general magic and one skill slot for his specialization. Is that alright or can I only take single schools? Like since I took general magic am I allowed to use the basics of all schools of magic and one specialization meaning I can be amazing in that one school or is it like magic's rare/grounded enough that I'd need to pick a specific school and just have the basic ability to perform that one school?

2.) I wrote in a magical college into his backstory, do those exist or are wizards in small scattered groups?

3.) How does magic work? Mana or slots? You said it causes exhaustion so I assume it's Mana based and people can just use mana energy to affect the surroundings/themselves. Like Shadowrun

4.) Can I get a measuring stick on what's possible to be done by mages/magic both in a general sense and when they specialize? Like generally what's possible with magic and how much stronger an evoker can use offensive/evocation magic than a generalist/non-evocation specialized mage

5.) Depending on how powerful mages are and the fact everybody can use magic, can knights/fighters can superhuman physical abilities by subconsciously manipulating their mana so they can keep up/keep improving when faced with a literal army of darkness?

6.) I realize I might have misunderstood magic descriptions. With there being Arcane, Rune, Holy and Nature magic, do schools of magic even exist?

Might need edits

Still need more backstory

Ehh I'm taking up interest in too many games. I probably should see if I can handle one character before making two.
I'm interested, particularly in the academy. I want to play a pokemon breeder/whatever Brock was though since I've got this itch to be a supporting character recently.
@IceHeartRight will rework I pretty much just riped off the backstory of another character anyway.
