| {Appearance} |At 5 foot 7, Lizzie is tall for her age/era. Her dark hair, pale skin and bright eyes classify her as a classic beauty. She’s often underestimated because of her kind face and slender figure. She was often told she smiled too much as a child. Somehow, she was not expected to be happy.
A typical child of her time, Lizzie prefers skirts and dresses over wearing pants. She knows how to dress modestly, and though she does try to adapt to current fashion styles, she rarely wears short skirts. If she does, they never fall above the knee. She prefers not to show cleavage, favouring a sweetheart neckline or a blouse, and never goes sleeveless. ¾ is acceptable, shorter is not.
Lizzie prefers wearing natural colours, brown, auburn, blues, whites & off-whites and greens.
She has no tattoos, piercings or visible scars.

| {Fears} |The end of the human race. Lizzie feels humans have become more self-destructive over the years. She fears the day when humanity will no longer populate the earth in numbers great enough to sustain the Vampire population.
Not being loved/spending eternity alone. Maybe it’s her age, but the idea of being alone, unloved, a burden on society still lingers in her mind. Still, she has not chosen to take a mate.
Killing again. She keeps humans at a “professional” distance.
| {Secrets} |Lizzie has always known she was adopted. Her parents told her all about the miracle, the night she was found and how she was the answer to their prayers. After leaving her maker, before travelling to America, she returned to England to track down the people responsible for her mother's death. She discovered who her parents had been, and that it was her father who had paid a band of highway men to kill her mother. She returned the favour by killing her father. She hung him in a tree, by the ankles. Then she sliced his throat and watched every drop of blood drain away in the dry soil. It was the first time Lizzie saw blood without feeling the need to feed. Authorities assumed that the same band of highway men killed him when he came up short in terms of payment. Lizzie decided not to educate them on the truth.
Oh and another, less dangerous secret: Lizzie loves reading young adult fiction and has a well read copy of the Twilight Saga hidden in her house. She’ll admit to it being pulp, but it is one of her guilty pleasures.
| {Abilities} |Lizzie has the standard skills of all vampires. She's capable of meddling with people's memories, making them forget that they met. She can block the entire event from their memories.
Lizzie is both highly intelligent and very observant. She is confident in her strength, but relies more on her speed and agility. Why risk getting hurt when you can dodge and punch at the same time?
| {Limitations} |In addition to the usual Vampire limitations, Lizzie detests the use of firearms. She is more sensitive to sunlight than most Vampires. Even as a human, sunny days gave her a head ache.
| {Personality} |♦ Intelligent ♦ Proud ♦ Generous ♦ Opinionated ♦
Lizzie comes across as a cheerful, bubbly, happy young woman. Her bright eyes betray her intelligence, and her quick wit and use of sarcasm has gotten her in trouble more times than she can count. She is a keen observer and a good judge of character and takes pride in the number of times she’s been right. She is occasionally dead wrong, of course, and capable of admitting this and adjusting her opinions. She does tend to stick to her own opinions and observations until she has been proven wrong, which also gets her in trouble.
Lizzie’s a real people person. Her transition to Vampire was very hard on her, until she learned she could co-exist with humans. She still tends to keep to herself, afraid of hurting someone in an unguarded moment. She attends parties and social gatherings and has no problems dealing with the clients in her bookstore, but she doesn’t date and can be perceived as distant in close social contact.
Those who do know her up close, know that they’ll never find a more loyal, generous and kind friend.
| {Place of Origin} |Lizzie was born in the UK. She doesn’t know the details, but it was definitely in Derbyshire. She came to the US after WWII, with a group of people. They were separated upon arrival, and Lizzie has no idea how many others made it into the US, or where they are.
| {Background} |Lizzie was found in a bassinette inside an overturned carriage. Her bassinette rested at the bottom of a pile of clothes and suitcases that appeared to have fallen on top of the bassinette as the carriage went over. A hunting party on their way home from a successful hunt came across the carriage and rushed over to see if they could help. They soon realised that the carriage was empty apart from the suitcases. There was some blood and one of the seats was damp, but there was no sign of the former occupants. They decided to load the mystery occupants’ belongings onto their carriage, to prevent them being stolen, and that’s when they came across the baby girl. They couldn’t leave her there, so they loaded her up and took her back to the manor. The local midwife estimated she was about 4 days old at the time. A day after the baby had been found in the carriage, the remains of the mother were found in a copse nearby.
One of the men, George, offered to take the baby in. His wife Charlotte had just lost her own child in childbirth, and they would be able to take care of the infant. This arrangement was meant to be temporary, but when Charlotte removed the baby from the bassinette, George discovered two items had been hidden beneath the baby. The first was a copy of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Stored between the well read pages was a letter of recommendation. The young girl was an orphan who had become too old to remain in the orphanage. She was on her way to her first employment as a governess, and since no mention of a baby or her situation was made, it was assumed she had managed to hide this fact until the last moment. The orphanage was contacted, of course, but it was obvious to all that the little girl was better off where she was. George and Charlotte named her Elizabeth Jane Darcy, after the lead characters in the mother’s beloved book. George and Charlotte raised her well, and Lizzie benefited from all their wealth and status could afford her. She was aware she was adopted, and that she did not share her parents’ last name, but this did not diminish the love between Lizzie and her parents.
Lizzie’s childhood was a happy one. She had everything she wanted, and lots of friends to share it with. Lizzie’s parents were collectors of rare books for the British Royal Family. In that capacity they travelled a lot, both within England and abroad. During one of their trips to Europe, Lizzie and her parents had met an aristocrat who took an interest in Lizzie. Being almost 25 years of age, Lizzie had given up the idea of being a desirable partner, but this man appeared not to mind her age or lack of heritage. He had invited her and her parents to spend some time in his home land, and they had accepted without hesitation. They spent a wonderful winter in the mountains during which time he and Lizzie seemed to get ever closer. She was completely under his spell by this time, as were her parents. When her father fell ill and had to return to England, her parents left Lizzie in the care of their new friend, along with her maid. The compelling powers of the stranger were so strong that they failed to see their error in judgement until they reached England and got a reality check.
The moment Lizzie’s parents had left, the man made his intentions clear. He had wooed the girl with stories of his travels, but when he told her what she’d have to sacrifice to remain a part of his life she hesitated. Word of her parents’ demise arrived a few days later, and Lizzie learned from a letter from a distant aunt that her father had succumbed to his illness, and her mother had died a few weeks later, from a broken heart. By now, Lizzie was so far under his spell that she offered little resistance and suffered the transition. Word of Lizzie’s demise was sent to England, along with an invitation to attend her funeral, which was refused. Thus, Lizzie entered her new life in isolation, with only her strange friend to guide her.
The next few months were a constant blur of hunger, desire, fear and feeding frenzies. After half a year or so, Lizzie’s raging thirst slowed somewhat, and she was able to time her feedings and choose her victims more selectively. As her control over her thirst grew, so did her distrust of her former hero. His ruthless nature and disdain for his human victims bothered her more and more. Still, she had nowhere else to go.
Until one night, about a year after Lizzie’s transformation, when a traveller visited their remote refuge. Apparently word had gotten out, and Lizzie’s maker was to be destroyed for his actions. Something about risking publicity and exposure. Lizzie managed to convince the stranger of her innocence and ignorance, and was offered a way out of her current life. The stranger introduced her to his coven, and to her new life, and taught her how to feed without killing or harming humans. He also taught her that both Vampires and humans can experience pleasure from the feeding, and taught her to explore her mental powers. And when the second great war ripped Europe apart, he took her with him to the safety of America.
She parted ways with her coven when they reached America, in part because the others chose to live nomadic lives. Lizzie longed for a place to settle down. She had learned how to adapt her appearance, how to make it appear like she was aging gradually like humans do, and she longed for a chance to put down new roots.
Her quest led her to Salem, where her love for the occult seemed fitting, somehow. She joined a small coven of Vampires and opened her bookstore. Stick with what you know, right?
