Echo is a young individual with a diminutive height of approximately 5'4. His hair is in disarray, displaying a dark ashen gray hue, suggesting that he might not have combed it for quite some time. Echo's striking, sky-blue eyes are seemingly adorned with intricate patterns and webs within his irises, making him stand out even more. His skin tone is pale, and he has a few small scars on his hands and fingers, which appear to be from a needle. Echo keeps it simple yet chic with his circular black-framed glasses, and he always carries spares for convenience.

On many occasions, he can be seen wearing a striking combination of black and blue clothing. This includes a pair of navy blue sweatpants, sturdy combat boots, a black long-sleeved shirt, and a distressed denim jacket. Additionally, he often carries a small metal pole as a means of safeguarding himself.

Personality:

Echo is a multifaceted individual who can effortlessly shift between being serious and humorous. He has a remarkable talent for generating quick-witted remarks and making puns, even in challenging situations. He derives pleasure from finding amusement in the most insignificant details and derives immense satisfaction from sharing his humor with others. At times, Echo alludes to himself as a "serious joker" due to his ability to maintain an appropriate balance between humor and seriousness.

He is ceaseless in his passion for patterns, finding meaning in even the most trivial of things as if they were all connected somehow. A hidden web of possibility and mutual relevance.

Dream:

The Weaving, or alternatively, The Spider.

The sight of a luminous and sparkling web, resembling a pattern formed by rays of sunshine, is truly captivating. It is a symbol of hope and intense emotions and a delicate work of art that requires careful preservation.

Echo's Dream is an extensive collection of intricate patterns that he can bring to life in the physical world. He can manifest them as ethereal strands of energy or as a cozy quilt to provide warmth to himself or his companions, as well as other thread-based things. His fascination with patterns and the way they reflect his state of mind, coupled with his interest in the mystical, creates a cryptic yet alluring depiction of his perception of the world.

Echo, despite his weaving skills, frequently finds himself ensnared in the intricate patterns and webs he creates, struggling to extricate himself from the tangled mess.

Bio:

Echo is an only child, his father is a retired Shardhunter, and his mother is a practicing doctor.

Residing on the edge of the bustling trading district of a Nova Republic city situated in the barren and desolate wastelands, Echo's life was far from effortless. However, he possessed an exceptional ability to observe and discern the behavioral patterns of those around him, surpassing the perceptiveness of most of his peers. Despite his inclination to solitude, he remained captivated by the intricacies of the world surrounding him, perpetually seeking out the telltale patterns that were left behind by all things.

Despite their limited resources, his parents did everything in their power to provide him with the best upbringing possible. His mother imparted to him important skills such as sewing, stitching, and treating wounds, while his father instilled in him the value of learning from those around him and the situations he encountered. To him, life was akin to a fragile tapestry that was continuously being woven. However, when Echo was 19, a dream turned into a harrowing Nightmare, causing the tapestry of his life to unravel before his very eyes.

The edge of town was attacked by a Nightmare, slaughtering anything that breathed that it came into contact with. So many people died, including his mother. His father gave him an Old World Shard, one that he had been keeping a secret from his days as a Shardhunter, and told him to run, to run, and never look back.

Echo managed to slip away with his life and his father’s Shard, wrapped in a handkerchief. He had lost what he thought was everything in his life, unsure if his dad had ever actually made it out… Guided by fear, he thought that he had nothing else to lose. And pressed the Shard to his open palm.

The whispers were few, but loud. From his fingers came webs of ethereal light, a pattern of his mother’s favorite ancient symbol, a Celtic knot. He held it close to his heart as he cried, mourning the death of his mother.

After escaping, he sought refuge in a community of Dreamers. In the following three years, he delved deeper into the boundless possibilities of his newfound Dream. His unwavering determination to find his father alive rekindled his hope, and he ventured out into the remnants of the world, hoping to find some evidence of his father's survival.

Echo is a rather young and short man, standing at about 5'4, his short and choppy hair is a dark ashen gray and messy, as if he hadn't even touched a comb in a year or two. He has bright sky-blue eyes that seem to contain intricate weavings and webs almost intersecting within his irises… He is a rather pale individual, having a few small scars here and there on his small hands and on his thin and reasonably long fingers, seemingly from a needle of some kind. He wears a pair of glasses and often keeps spares, that are black in frame and circular in shape, there is beauty in simplicity after all.

Personality:
Echo is a generally serious, yet humorous character, and is always one to make a witty remark or bad pun. While often finding himself in less-than-ideal circumstances, he has a knack for finding even the smallest of things a joke to share with the group. He likes to refer to himself as "a serious joker".

Echo’s Dream is a sprawling web of patterns that he can manifest parts of into the tangible world, sometimes as strands of ethereal energy, sometimes as a quilt to keep him or a friend warm. An obsession with patterns, a tapestry that weaves itself to match his own mental state, and the significance of the esoteric which he finds fascinating. A cryptic yet compelling image of what the world is to him.

Afterimages (A Story inspired by the Persona Series.)

Synopsis:Reality has two sides to it, the normal 'real' world, and the Alter world. Just like everyone has dark sides, the worlds are the same, yet fundamentally different. The Alter World houses mirror images of people and structures of the real world, but as negative emotion and fear incarnated into monstrous creatures... This place has always existed, hidden behind the veil of ignorance in which humanity places itself. 4 young people are drawn into this world, bound by a mysterious contract signed in a dream that felt too real. Led by their other selves, their Afterimages, the lines between what is hidden and what is true reality are blurred, in a mission to save reality from itself.

Neo Tokyo is a sprawling Japanese city and a hotspot of negative thoughts and emotions. Suicide rates have been on the rise recently for unknown reasons with almost no pattern or apparent reason why. Close friends of the most recent victims had said that they had gone crazy, babbling about an alternate reality and a figure called The Masked Man or some similar moniker. All the victims were alumni or current students of シルバーシェード (Shirubashedo) Academy, a community college near the Shinjuku District.

Afterimages

Afterimages are pure manifestations of negative emotions that reside in the Alter World, similar to the Mirror Creatures, and seemingly represent an animal that a person accepts as another version of themselves. After a person acknowledges and accepts their manifested dark side, the two beings merge into one, similar to a symbiotic relationship. The Afterimage then modifies its host to be halfway between the animal the Afterimage represents and the host's original human body. The more the host discovers about themselves, the more powerful their Afterimage becomes.

Afterimages are classified by "types" consisting of an element and an inclination.
Elements are Heat, Cold, Light, and Dark. Inclinations are War, Peace, Order, and Chaos.

Afterimage Type Components

The elements and inclinations are generally determined by the host's personality, the Afterimage mirroring its host's true self.
Heat usually consists of an inextinguishable passion or rage, even a hot temper could manifest this way.
Cold represents a sizable pride or reserved nature, perhaps even a tendency to avoid others could result in a Cold Afterimage.
Light represents an unnaturally cheerful disposition, a mask that was donned so many times that it became the host's true face.
Dark consists of the true meaning of a dark side, almost a complete flip-side of the host's main personality.

War is bent on harm, a figment of violence.
Peace is focused on protection and mending, a living shield.
Order is based on prediction, forcing adversaries to follow a set script.
Chaos is the wild card, its actions are unpredictable and uncontrollable.

Mirror Creatures

The mirror creatures are pure manifestations of negative and repressed emotions, emanated and reflected from the 'real' world. traditional weapons tend to have little to no effect on them and can only be destroyed by attacks infused with Afterimage power, known in the Alter World as "soule" energy. While they are beings created of human emotion and fear, they are not tied to a human, simply a reflection abandoned to wander the Alter World with no hope of ever encountering its originator.

This includes themes of suicide, self-harm, brutal deaths, and a grimdark alternate reality.

Hey there! I'm EchoWolf, but you can call me any nickname you can come up with. I started my RP journey by creating D&D campaigns for my group, which led me to make my own experimental TTRPG systems and many, many different worlds. I enjoy fantasy and sci-fi stuff and creating entire worlds to share with people. I am usually a semi-literate roleplayer, and often GM various things, but I am sort of slow when it comes to responses. I enjoy playing a possibly unhealthy amount of video games and I am a Moral Psychology major.
