[Gear]
Attire |
Lina’s wardrobe is full of lightweight tops and short shorts, along with a few hooded trench coats and fingerless gloves. She almost always has her hood up to try to keep a low profile, even though that tends to be difficult when people see her eyepatch. The eyepatch that she wears has evolved over time; what started out as a regular patch of fabric has upgraded into a hard glass Omni-Lens that is tinted to hide the glow and is equipped with some integrated HUD technology, courtesy of a rather tech savvy acquaintance. When out on the streets, Lina tends to wear a light tac vest and several holsters to carry her array of weapons.
Armament/Equipment |
Lina has grown accustomed to carrying several small throwing knives wherever she goes, which she usually hides. If she’s expecting to run into any trouble, she will equip a couple of tactical slingshots; a smaller one for steel ball ammo, and a slightly larger one for arrows. Beside her weapons, Lina carries a flip-style Rhoella smartphone. She wants to get her hands on a dissembler, but has yet to obtain one.

Pariah Underground; rumored to have former ties with the Syndicate
Personality/Habits |
Lina is a lone wolf by circumstance. Her particular anomalies have caused her to be on the outside of most circles. The adversity, however, only served to strengthen her. She is determined and has a laser-focus when faced with a challenge or task. She doesn’t play particularly well with others, though she will use whomever she needs to in order to gain her own desired results. As tough as Lina can be to deal with, her heart isn’t completely hardened. She has a strong love for those she considers family and will go to the end of the earth to protect them.

None
Skills/Talents |
Lina has trained herself to be a highly skilled marksman. She prefers not to use guns as she sees them as noisy and messy. She is also moderately skilled at hand-to-hand combat.
Family |
Magdalena Garcia (mother), Mario Lewis (younger brother), Marcus Lewis (father - estranged)
Background |
Lina’s early childhood wasn’t exactly favorable. Her vague memories of her father usually involve seeing him behind glass. When Lina was four, her father, Marcus, was sent to prison for vehicular manslaughter after losing control of his car during a street race and killing a young couple walking their dog. Lina’s mother, Magdalena, was devastated and appalled by her then-husband’s recklessness. She had been pregnant at the time and was forced to find a job to support herself and her children. She visited Marcus a handful of times during the early period of his incarceration, but as time went on, she grew increasingly distant towards him. Not long after her second child, Mario, was born, she divorced Marcus and moved to New Haven to start a new life.
Lina’s family ended up in the eastern side of Bywater, one of the more laid back parts of the city. Life seemed normal for a few years as she and her family settled in, but things took a slight turn for the worse when it was discovered that Lina was a Variant. One evening, Lina got into a rather heated argument with her mother after her temper had gotten the best of her. At the time, she had been holding a half-empty canned beverage, which she gripped tighter as the argument escalated. When her anger peaked, the can suddenly glowed white-hot and the contents inside boiled out of it. Lina hurled the can at the wall and it proceeded to explode, leaving a sizable hole. Both Lina and her mother stood there in stunned silence staring at the aftermath. As Lina's breathing grew increasingly rapid, she looked over to her mother for some inkling of clarity or comfort, but was met with a look of shock and fear. Not only had Lina just basically created a small bomb, but also her left eye was glowing a fiery orange. Magdalena knew that the last thing her daughter needed in that moment was to be slighted, but the situation was simply too much for her, and Lina retreated to her room still angry, but now also confused and scared.
From that moment on, life got difficult for Lina. She was constantly bullied and outcast throughout the rest of her adolescence and teens, which bothered her at first. Eventually, she chose to simply isolate herself and shut others out whom she deemed unworthy of her time and energy. After graduating high school, Lina decided not to continue to college or even get a regular job. She instead turned to living life on the streets, much to her family’s dismay. She had her fair share of questionable ventures and made a few shady connections, but she always vowed to never get her family involved. After a while, she decided to back away from the darker side of the underworld to avoid popping up on N.O.V.A.’s radar, since she had been on their Watch list most of her life.
