Mornings were a routine affair for the Mithra woman named Esailia: Make bed, hygiene duties, meal, check pack...double check pack, and finally dress. Today though was a bit different. She wouldn't wear her normal uniform to the Academy but instead suit down in full armor before heading for the city. As Esailia slipped her underclothing on, her mind turned towards the potential of this new world, as it has since she first heard of the portal being opened.
I would be the first military officer to step foot in new territory, I will be responsible for not only keeping accurate strategic maps of the immediate area around the portal site, but set up defenses, scout out potential enemies or allies, and keep everyone going in today from dying to threats. Esailia smirked slightly, sliding her head under one side of her breastplate and sliding the piece of armor snugly into place. But succeeding will unlock doors to very worthwhile rewards. I should make Colonel at least...or even General of the New World!
As the soldier finished up with her armor, settling her helmet around her furred ears, she grabbed her pack off her bed and with one last look at her quarters, clinked out the door, ready to meet the greatest challenge of her life.

Esailia was at the portal ceremony in time to see everything in full swing. It was all fanfare and excitement, but the Mithra was left alone, most likely mistaken for an officer of the guards, whom noted her full plate attire and let her though after one glanced at her orders. Once past the crowds, she stood near the others and waited for the appointed hour to arrive.
And that wasn't far off, as the head mage gave a final shout, the portal came alive with a clap, and they were rushed through. Quick and painless, a slight sensation of nothingness, and they were on the other side. To greet them? A vast new realm, a beautiful plain set before them, pockmarked with the occasional tree or bush. Not a few moments after the last person was through did the portal seal itself up, and the real journey began.
The Mithra hefted her pack and glanced at the elf, barely able to resist the urge to roll her eyes at his comment. But at least he was on the right track.
"I don't know about you, but these plains look too exposed for a safe place to sleep. Not to mention anything we construct in the next week would be at risk of unknown weather conditions. If everything is so lush, That would indicate plenty of rainfall." She waved a hand "But first things first,"
Setting her pack down and turning to the group, she raised her voice, almost yelling in order to be heard "Listen up! This is not a picnic! We need to organize and coordinate duties, let's get introduced by name and profession. My name is Esailia, Guardian. An officer with military training in combat, tactics, and logistics! I want combat ready personnel to my left, and production personnel to my right! If you handle food, in the center! If you do not fall into these three categories, behind food!"
