In hindsight, she should have given the move more thought. When her temper was up Serenity was known for going on instinct, instincts that weren't always kind. And that problem came to the forefront as she took several fast steps forwards, grabbing Apalacia's wrist to halt her in her tracks.
"Clearly dumb ass decisions must run in your family then, but just because dear old dad isn't around to make them doesn't mean you have to volunteer. We are not a team. We are not here to 'end the war'. Our job is to stay alive long enough to train pokemon and beat at least one pokemon at every gym in the area, so that we don't get sent to the front with our partners."
Eyes glinting angrily, she pointed back at Jericho. "You clearly have not thought this through. Do you really want to travel with someone who doesn't listen to anyone else? Because you were right about one thing-- there are northern soldiers out there. And I don't want some know it all wise ass leading us into an ambush because he won't take anyone else seriously. Do you?"
Raising her voice slightly, Serenity turned to the rest of the group. "It does sound like we are all going in the same direction, and there are safety in numbers. But if we want to travel together safely as a group, we have to work together. And that means no one gets to elect themselves leader and then toss out anyone who doesn't grovel at their feet."
Serenity's voice was low as she glanced around. Her eyes rested on Jericho the longest, uneasy. He was too brash, in her mind, too eager to make them either accept his leadership or go their own way. But none of them knew each other, and none of them had worked together before. For the most part they had grown up in the same town, and most of them knew each other if only through primary school, but that did not let them know each other's proficciency with pokemon.
Annoyingly, Applatta was a good starter gym. She wanted to catch a few water and ground pokemon to balance out her fire style pokemon, but that didn't mean she wanted to sacrifice her own autonimy to do so.
"I think we should travel in at least three man groups, but I do not want to follow his lead." She nodded her head to Jericho. "I don't like him, and I don't trust him."
Serenity had jumped slightly at the hand on her shoulder, but she turned to look at the person behind her and smiled. Tristan was an old friend, for all that he was a few years older than her, and having him on the trip would do a lot to raise her spirits. He was an optimistic, steady presence that would work well to balance out her more realistic mentalities.
"Hey, we're leaving home-- I'm allowed to be wistful." But her smile only lasted a few moments as she looked over the gathering crowds, and the various personalities gathering there. "This is going to be rough, man, no lie. We might have each other's back, but I think that's all we can trust."
If she were to be perfectly honest, Serenity would have to say that she didn't trust most people easily. And even though she had lived in the same town for most of her life, and knew at least most of the people around her by name, they were practically strangers. And strangers, she had always believed, could not be trusted with safety or the security of her person.
Nodding at the rifle over his shoulder she patted the gun and attached scope that was against her pack. "So, Zubat and Sandile ready to go? You know that Ponyta will be happy to help carry some of your things if you need us to."
The morning had come all to quickly. It had taken a long hot shower to get her to take up all the way, and her long red hair was heavy with the water by the time she'd felt alert enough to get out.
Serenity had struggled to sleep the night following the announcement. The war was not news to her, nor was the knowledge that soldiers had to come from somewhere. She had even become used to the idea that someday she might be faced with the reality of joining herself. And yet, none of that had prepared her for having to begin her Pokemon journey under the threat of deployment. It wasn't that she wasn't ready to leave home and explore the world, or even that she wasn't looking forward to finding and capturing Pokemon of her own.
But there was a decent chance that none of that was going to happen. She and her ponyta had been together for years, and they were good together. Her charmander, though, was new. He seemed to have a pleasant personality, but he wasn't trained yet. And she would have to use both of them to grow her colletion, and then train those to the best of her ability. And her survival- and that of her pokemon- would depend on her skill in that area.
Breakfast was a tough affair. Her brothers-twins and only 7- wept against her legs as she made pancakes for the last time. Her father paced the front room the entire time she was cooking and making sure the boys ate, and only when she had gathered her pack onto her back did he stop her. His hug was firm, and the wallet he tucked into her hands was heavy with the savings that could be spared for her.
And that parting- so like her mothers from almost a year ago, weighed heavily on her. She'd dressed for travel though, in sturdy black and blue pants and tank top. There was a jacket in her pack, along with a few changes of clothes and the freeze dried food that served as the staple for most Pokemon trainers.
Her Pokemon were both in their pokeballs on her belt as she approached the fountain, staring around at the familiar town square as though she'd never seen it before-- for she might not see it again.

Stance on War: For the war. As much as Serenity values her pokemon, she values the fate of all pokemon more, and believes that the northerners winning would put all wild Pokemon at risk.

Hello all! Welcome to my interest check. I am currently craving a few good role plays to fill the void that is going to be Christmas break and beyond, so come on in, warm yourself by the fire, and let's get started.
I live in the Eastern Standard time zone. I enjoy writing and have been role playing for about ten years now, which makes me feel really old. I don't have any real limits while writing, but please tell me yours so I can respect them. I prefer MxM, but some plots I will accept MxF or FxF.
So, there's not much I am asking for guidelines wise. But for the sake of organization, they are:
- Please write. I am not asking for a novel for every post, and I am fine with smaller posts if the scene is mostly dialouge. But I will give you between 3-5 paragraphs a post, so please at least try to give me 2-3.
- Not a grammar nazi by any means. Just try to spell things in a way that I can understand, and we are golden.
-Be open. If you come in only playing a female character and only wanting one type of role playt and only wanting me to plot then we are not going anywhere.
-Have fun! I am not going to bite, i swear! Role playing is suppossed to be exciting, so let's enjoy it!
So, if you are okay with those, read over what I have and send me a pm![/hider]
I do have quite a few topics and plots of my own, but always feel free to suggest something. For ease of access, I've organized what I currently like/have plots for below.
* Means plot
Modern
Sniper x Pacifist * (MxM only) Fugative x Neighbor* (MxM Only) Letter based Role Play* Barista x Regular* (MxM Preferred) ER Doctor x EMT * Overnight Help Desk x Caller* Suggest
Modern Fantasy When it comes to Modern Magic, I prefer the Dresden Files approach Wizard x Non-Believer* (MxM Preferred) Wizard x Witch Witch x Non-Believer* Vampire x Human Vampire x Hunter*
Post-Apocolyptic Earth (I usually use Fall Out 3 For a Similiar Basis) Raider/Scavanger x Survivor* Survivor x Survivor Letter based Role Play (Something similiar to Ephemeral Rift's Letters from the Apocalypse as a possible idea DoctorxWanderer*
That's all I can think of right now. Please feel free to send me a pm with any questions, or if you are interested in starting a role play. Thanks for your time!
