Sajan

Sajan took in the call silently, trying ignore the jab at the end. Right now she needed to find a dangerous criminal, not trade words with an operator. She did wonder how long they had been tracking her progress, however. But her thoughts would need to be squarely focused on sussing out where her target might be. She sensed as the signature ebbed out, and given it was getting closer at the time, it could only mean they had abandoned their installation in favour of hiding among the populace. They would have to be picked out by more conventional means. Fortunately, someone extremely suspicious appeared in the crowd in due time. If this man was indeed the criminal, he was not doing a remotely good job of making himself inconspicuous. His overall nervousness aside, one look told Sajan he was unlikely to be a Japanese native. Given the man she had just apprehended stood out as a Caucasian here himself, it hardly seemed unfair to think his potential co-conspirator was of a similar shade. In fact, while it could be due to a lack of familiarity with white people, Sajan swore they looked alike in more ways than their skin tone.

Sajan had made up her mind; this man was all too likely their murderous knight. If this had been under similar circumstances to the first man, she would've continued to favor the subtle approach, but he did not look like he was in the mood to be approached by anyone, let alone another card user. Instead, Sajan looked to a nearby apartment building and began to ascend the stairs within, heading for the roof access.

'What are you doing, Sajan? What is your plan here?' The Guru piped up as she dashed up the steps.

'I'm going to give this guy a taste of his own medicine from the roof.'
Sajan let him know plainly.

'Is this not too rash? Should you kill him now, it will be in public for all to see.'

'Perhaps, but our intelligence failure has already costed more lives. I think it's worth the risk to put an end to this before he kills again.' This man's robberies were known to be lethal. If they let him escape here, he would inevitably kill again. Sajan would endure any consequences, and even the Guru's disapproval, as long as this was brought to an end.

Emerging onto the roof, Sajan could see that the man was still down there. Wasting no time, Sajan readied the Guru's bow and let loose. With luck, this would be over in one brief moment. If not, Sajan was worried about what might come next.

@Etranger If we're quoting character sheets, Yuel can smell noble bullshit from a mile away, which includes things like trying to hide behind a polite mask. She's seen the signs of her family's dislike for her so much that she can unconsciously make it out on people. It's literally the only thing she's good at that isn't smashing stuff. Deal with it.

So your character gets a free pass to see through anybody noble, in spite of, by your own admission, being incapable of reading body language and having no other skills that relate to reading people?

I mean, I would be okay with it if she were just prejudiced towards anybody that was a noble due to her experiences, but you present it like she just has a magic "noble bullshit" detector. And my character, who's skills are all about hiding her noble bullshit, can't hide it from Yuel just because?
Despite the fact that Yuel couldn't read body language in the slightest, she could easily see the fact that the woman didn't like her.

Skills:
-If there’s one thing Irene has taught herself to do, it’s to pretend she’s perfectly fine with everything around her while she couldn’t be less okay with any of it. Having grown up in the Rendower household, she had to learn to ignore her family’s disgusting habits and carry on as though nothing was wrong. She has thus developed a general ability to maintain her cool under pressure and discomfort.

Because of course this happened.
I'll give this a go.
Irene Rendower

It seemed that whatever rumours their were of Laurence's kindness, they were overshadowed by the painful reality of his hostile demeanour. Irene did not show it, but being snapped at for such an innocent gesture did not sit well with her. Additionally, she could not fathom this nonsense about this being "dirty work". They were going to exterminate a group of subhumans for the good of civilization. What was dirty about that? The only dirty part would be that they might have to traipse through some filthy lair to get to them. The defeat of this creatures could only otherwise be described as good and glorious. Irene could not understand this man's character.

It was revealed that they were to be saddled with those that had not expressed any particular preference in task at this time. It was as though they were being served sloppy seconds. Her displeasure at this arrangement was only amplified upon learning the character of those that would stand with them. The first was the masculine "Yuel". From the slap on the back to the plain and uncouth speech, Irene could tell she was of an overtly boorish stock. The worst part was she heavily reminded her of her brother, Igmund. He had learned to act like a drunken commoner from spending his time among the household guard. This was going to be a tiresome partnership. Of course, like with all her family members, she simply gave her a pleasant smile and pretended she wouldn't prefer to leap into a pit of demons than associate with her. Their other compatriot was an elf. He was not bad to look at, but she imagined he would prove himself uncultured in due time.

Nonetheless, they were all to march off to find their quarry by foot. Why they were not allotted a carriage like the others, Irene did not know, but she would have preferred a more elegant form of transport than her own two feet. All she could do was smile and pretend she wasn't bothered by her comrades and keep her mind on the prize. Their walk demonstrated precisely why they needed to exterminate these vermin. Irene once again questioned the label "dirty work" in her own head. Soon enough, they came upon their first barrow, and Laurence offered to instruct them as to how to deal with them properly. "I for one would welcome your instruction, sir." She told him. Even if whatever solution he might have in mind could be most inelegant, it was for the best that they got the job done rather than fail to succeed. She could predict Laurence may be once again irked by her politeness, but while she was outwardly polite, inwardly she could care less if he didn't like it. It was the only "beautiful" thing to do to be polite, and damn him if he had a problem with that.

The consensus seemed to be that they would be hanging around town for a little bit. On top of that, it seemed at least one of their number had gone off on their own. If ghosty expected them all to work together, Michael swore she was the biggest fool he had ever met. Ascot decided to investigate the notion that this town might be in festival time, and sure enough, it was true. Not only that, but these people were just handing out food like it meant nothing. Michael wondered just how weird this place was going to get. Before going off on his own, a growing trend in this 'group', Ascot passed off the food he had gathered onto him. Michael didn't object, though he wondered why he was Ascot's first thought of pack mule. He would have joined him in questioning the jester girl, but he remembered something...neither he nor Ascot were watching the psycho.

Quickly turning around, Michael discovered Anni of all people having gotten close to him. He had no idea what she was doing, but any thoughts of asking were quickly put aside when somebody new came upon their group. Somebody that very clearly was not of this world, just like them. Not only that, but he was here for the Magician, just like them. Was ghost girl going to be sending an endless stream of people here? In fact...was it possible they weren't even the first people she had sent here? "Calm down, Anni." Michael told the girl. Though he couldn't entirely blame her for being flustered by a new arrival in this godforsaken world. "Like she said, we're all here for the Magician." He said to the new arrival. "I'm Michael Keahi. Call me Mike." Maybe this would be the first person to actually call him Mike, seeing as he didn't know he was a police officer yet. Giving him a closer look, he seemed disturbed by the knife nut. "Don't mind him. He's unwanted baggage, courtesy of little miss ghosty herself. Speaking of which, I don't suppose you were dumped here by her too?" It seemed like the most obvious conclusion, though it was hardly beyond reasonable doubt to say there might be more than one supernatural being abducting people to fight their battles in a foreign world.
