Occupation: Kalidyn is a Shade, a fresh recruit for the Shadow of the Watch. The Watch protects Drivenwell, the drow capitol and the Drow Caverns, their backyard of treasures and monsters spanning for miles and miles, from the incursions from the various races attempting to plunder the rumored treasures of the drow. The Shadows are an elite group of warriors, though not many Shades live long enough to become a full-fledged shadow, that are whispered of, even among the dark elves for their skill and prowess. Among the surface-dwellers, the Shadows have an even more sinister reputation. Fear is the first line of defense, and if any party intrepid enough to venture down overcomes the first defense, the Shadows make sure that at least one survivor returns to share whatever horrors were visited amongst his companions.

Abilities: Flow. The Shadows are trained to heighten their awareness of the moment, able to drop into a state they call “flow,” which is enhanced awareness and dexterity in the moment.
Magical Skills: Highly trained in the combat arts of illusion. Can create many minor light bendings at once (persons/objects being slightly to the side) for long periods of time, or in a strobe effect, can create bursts of light, color, can create illusions, including moving, talking people. A very disconcerting effect with multiple uses.

Biography
Family: Mother, father, and two brothers. He doesn’t see his family much, they’re engaged in their own pursuits and he is absorbed in his.
Social Heritage: The Varin Clan is one of the larger ones, though station is determined less by birth and more by prowess in the magical arts. They are notorious for producing prodigies, though they usually die before becoming masters.
Social Standing: The one of the most talented Drow his age; though the Varin curse says he, as all other young Varin prodigies, will die in the next ten years, so tensions are high. The entire drow race wants growth, primarily for themselves; competition amongst one another is like air and darkness; there have many times in history where a young Varin died at a pivotal point in their racial heritage, causing many setbacks.
Childhood: Kalidyn’s childhood was spent in the deeplake and caverns nearby. Fishing, swimming, hunting, and watersports. Drow have a peculiar game involving light and sound on the lake, which trains them for battle. The most skilled are recruited to the most favored positions in Drow society.
Occupational History: Kalidyn is a member of the Shadows, a newly inducted Shade. His training was rigorous; three solid years of study, practice, and finally trials in the deeps of the caverns. After a grueling week of his trials, he was ready. The Darken, the masters of the Shadows, had given him his last task. Five years of exile from the Drow caverns, with nothing but a letter that he wasn’t to open until the first year had passed, and the instruction to return when he had completed the contents of his letter, even if it took longer than the five years.
