Current Laptop has suspiciously decided to have hard-drive failure two weeks after the warranty expired, so no RPing for me!

"A burnt child keeps away from fire."

Genres:
Modern, crime, slice-of-life, motorcycle gangs

Location/Period:
The Yare Raiders is set in modern/current times, and begins around the Great Yarmouth area (in Norfolk, England). The MC takes its name from the River Yare, which it largely considers to be part of its territory. Much of the local area is rural, particularly as one goes North.

The Setting:
Founded a mere four years ago, the Yare Raiders MC has already gained a strong foothold in the area around Great Yarmouth and the River Yare. Their clubhouse is thriving, their 'security services' are weeding their way into many businesses (both legal and illegal), and locals seem to be slowly beginning to accept them. However the club still has many troubles and it looks like dark times are approaching.

The Club's president, Hector Zelos, recently died in a crash after getting high on heroin and left the club in a state of grieving and confusion. Whilst many expect the Vice-President Matthew 'Axe' Mcfarland to take his place, some have their doubts and no-one really knows who will be voted in as the next President. Understandably this is causing tensions to build, especially on-top of previous personal conflicts within the group. Personal conflicts in the group stem from a number of issues including drug use, club direction, and love affairs.

To make matters worse the clubs main rival (The Norfolk Reapers MC), have recently begun creeping back into Yarmouth after having been previously pushed out. Having previously underestimated the Raiders, the Reapers are using much heavier tactics and seem to have gotten hold of some firearms. On top of this, some of the casual social clubs in the area have begun getting pressure from the Outlaws to affiliate with them. It's more than likely that over the coming months these small clubs will either disband or be patched over by one of the Outlaw MCs.

How will this work?
You will be playing as either a member, prospect or hang-around of the Yare Raiders MC. Whilst much of the RP will revolve around your characters interaction with the club, this RP aims to get a glimpse of the personal struggles that each member faces and so you will be expected to write many independent posts and even, if you wish to, create your own side stories. So for example, you might spend two or three posts writing about a scouting mission then one or two set at your characters home where they're struggling to keep a marriage together.

Two of the buzz words in this RP will be 'Freedom' and 'Democracy'. You have the freedom to make your character go off and do their own thing, and even go against the wishes of the club and other characters (including mine). As the club is a democracy, you and your character have a right to say what you think should happen and what direction the club should take; in fact one of the starting story arcs is about who is going to be the next president (and that doesn't have to be my character).

The Club House:
The Yare Raiders (aka 'Raiders') are based in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England. They have a club house just outside of town on the road to Acle. The club house is called 'The Dragons Head' and is a pub that's open to members of the general public most days; with the exception of event days and times of increased trouble. It has a large garage to store bikes and a workshop around the back. The basement, backroom, and first floor are exclusive to club members and supporters. Many hang-arounds and prospects initially begun by becoming regulars at the pub.

The Jacket:
Like with most MCs, members of the Yare Raiders wear biker jackets covered in various patches. The jackets themselves vary from member to member (as the club doesn’t supply the jacket, just the patches). What you can expect to see on a jacket:

Front:
  • “Yarmouth” and (below that) “Original” on the left breast
  • Rank on the right breast (if they’re an officer)
  • Below rank they will have a patch that says either “First X”, “Warrior”, “Raider” or “Prospect”
  • A 1% patch

Back:
  • A top rocker displaying “Yare Raiders” written in black caps with a white background
  • A bottom rocker displaying “Yarmouth” written in black caps with a white background
  • The centre patch featuring the MC’s symbol: A black Viking ship with a red highlight
  • An MC patch

In addition to this, members might also add other patches and pins. For the most part random additions are frowned upon (but not forbidden), but there are a few that are bestowed for certain reasons. For example: a veteran can add a flag and a gun pin. Hang arounds are not permitted to wear patches, but they can wear items of clothing that show their support for the club (e.g. hats, shirts, etc.). Prospects are given a patch to wear on the front right breast and a bottom rocker, but nothing else until they are fully accepted.

Officer Ranks:
President - The leader of the club, the president has the final say on small matters and matters where a vote comes to a draw. They are the spokesman for the group and are in charge of calling and chairing meetings.
VP - The VP is the second in charge and stands in as the leader when needed. They make sure that things go smoothly and that operations are carried out properly.
Secretary - The secretary is in charge of paperwork and admin. They take minutes during meetings and ensure that everyone knows what is going on.
Treasurer - The treasurer is the clubs bookkeeper and is in charge of the money. They ensure that club members and protection clients pay their dues.
Sergeant At Arms - The Sgt is in charge of the clubs protection and security. They are in charge of the clubs weapons. They also enforce club rules and deal with members who are causing trouble.
Road Captain - The Road Captain is in charge of logistics when it comes to planning routes and rides. They also help the Sgt enforce club rules.

Membership Status:
First X - Those who founded the MC are known as the 'First X' (It'll be a number, not X, when the RP starts)
Warrior - Those who have served the MC for a long period or proven themselves are known as Warriors
Raider - Those who have officially joined the MC and get their patches are known as Raiders
Prospect - Those wishing to join the MC and have potential are called Prospects. They wear a jacket and get involved in operations.
Hang-around - Those who are friendly with the club are known as Hang-arounds. They may hang around the club house or go on the occasional ride but won't really take part in anything business related. They may go onto become prospects.

Business:
The club earns money in three main ways: Through the club house and workshop; through protection; and through moving drugs. The Club house is completely legitimate and earns enough in and of itself to just about keep the club afloat. The workshop makes a slight loss when considering that the money it earns goes straight back into the club's own vehicles. The club offers protection to various businesses and individuals in the rural areas of the county, often because they can get there way faster than the local police. Some of the protection they offer is clearly extortion, but for the most part this isn't the case. The club also provides some internal security in a few local clubs where backrooms are used to store and sell drugs. When these club owners/drug traffickers want their stuff moved they often pay the MC to do it. The MC doesn't currently sell the drugs themselves, they just move it between dealers/suppliers - some of the members want this to change one way or the other.

Club History Summary:
The Yare Raiders was founded by the First X and was initially led by two best friends, Axe and Hector. Due to Axe's connection to the pub, the group chose to hang around the 'Dragons Head'. Although they initially never intended to be an Outlaw MC, another group known as the (Norfolk) Reapers began giving them grief. They were an outlaw gang and were involved in people trafficking and drug production. They tried to intimidate the Yare Raiders simply because they didn’t like seeing other patches on their turf. Not a group to individuals that would be pushed around, the Yare Raiders quickly amassed people and guns using their various connections and launched a small war against the Reapers. In the space of a few days the Reapers were caught completely by surprise and were driven completely out of the area. Their club house and cannabis farms were burned down and their stores were raided.

Following the small war, the Yare Raiders continued their alliance with some of the local drug groups that helped them push out the Reapers. They provided security to a few clubs and warehouses in exchange for money and some light firepower. Once the Mc pooled enough money they brought out the Dragon's Head and the workshop behind it, using it as the MCs clubhouse.

The most recent event is the death of Hector Zelos whom, after getting drugged up, accidentally rode his bike into oncoming traffic and caused an accident. Whilst a few people were injured, the only two deaths were Hector and an unborn child (whose mother was seven months pregnant). None of the other bikers were with him, and some have suspicions about the incident.

It'll be a case of first come first served when it comes to Officer positions. If you want your character to be an officer then they will need to be one of the founding members. Characters cannot begin as the President or VP. I'd like for people to apply not only to be officers, but also warriors, raiders and prospects. You can apply to be a hang-around if you want to, but I wouldn't recommend it.

This RP will remain constantly open (probably), with new players having to become fresh prospects. Not only does this make sense, but also means that if they stop being active then the RP doesn't really get too adversely affected.

Please find a CS sheet here! Please copy and paste it rather than editing it! Remember to use hiders!
The quality of your drawing will be used to judge whether or not I allow you to stay in this RP. Draw well.
Chester, Buxton and Zacharias were the last of the agents left on the ground, the others having now successfully scaled the wall. This was good, as the three of them were quickly reaching exhaustion under the constant waves of infected. The earth beneath their feet had already turned to into a slippery foul mixture of mud, blood and guts, and now each of them had to take extra care not to slip over.

“Everyone’s up but us. Mind if we get moving ourselves?” Zacharias panted as he slashed at yet another corpse, his rapier slicing through the creature’s face like butter. The cut was only superficial though and Zacharias was forced to follow up the attack by smashing his buckler against the existing wound.

“I think that would be a good idea!” Buxton replied, tapping Chester on the shoulder in case he didn’t realise they were moving back. The trio fell back towards the section of wall where the others had climbed up, making a small defensive circle. At this range those above the wall were really able to relieve the pressure, with some using ranged attacks and some having even found spears.

“After you, my Lady.” Zacharias offered with a slight smile. Even with the chaos he still seemed able to keep an air of cockiness, although it was almost whipped away from his as a large armour clad man tried to grab him by the neck. Fortunately Zacharias was able to shove the tip of his rapier up through the bottom of the man’s jaw and into his skull, before Sir Chester lent a hand by throwing the corpse into a few more of the zombies.

“As soon as I’m up you both follow!” Buxton ordered, ignoring the Dawnish man’s charm. Not bothering to use the rope or knives, she turned and ran up the wall, catching the hand of Gewain. Within seconds she was lifted up to the same platform as the others. She wanted to stop for a moment to rest and catch her breath, but she couldn’t afford such luxury. “Gewain! Drusus! Sarah! Help the last two up! Everyone else give them cover!” she shouted her orders as loudly and clearly as she could, hoping that her agents had a calm enough mind-set to still follow orders.

Meanwhile Chester and Zacharias had found themselves getting closer and closer until they were practically shoulder to shoulder. Heavy streams of sweat flowed down each of their faces, their muscles burned and felt tight under the continued stress of battle, and their throats had become coarse through shouting. They were both veteran soldiers though and their stamina held strong. Chester continued to thrust his sword out from behind his shield in an almost mechanical and robotic motion, with each extension of his blade felling yet another foe.

“Go!” Chester roared, shunting his shoulder backwards into Zacharias to get his attention. The Dawnish man didn’t need to be told twice, quickly climbing the rope until he was up high enough for the others to grab at him and pull him up. That left Chester alone with his back against the wall, now having to frantically fight off the undead from all directions. The infected kept managing to clasp their jaws around his arms and legs, but failed to bite through his armour. He found himself using every moveable limb to shake free and smack the infected away.

“Stand back!” commanded Drusus, stepping forward and taking position atop of where Chester stood. He had yet to demonstrate his magical abilities in front of the others, wanting to keep it discreet. But in the end he knew it was inevitable, and by acting now he might gain the trust of those around him. He took a long drawn and deep breath, trying to remember his teachings. He focussed on the truths of magic (as he knew them) and the energy flowing throughout him and his stave. Then, thrusting forward his free hand, projected a blast of air at the enemies below. Chester himself struggled to stay upright as the blast from behind sent his attackers tumbling over. Drusus followed this up immediately with a blast of fire, scorching those that were already beginning to scramble up towards Chester again. This display did not turn the tide of battle, but it was enough to give Chester a chance of escaping. The knight quickly turned and swung his large shield over the wall before climbing up the robe as quickly as his weight would let him.

“Fuck me, that was a close one.” exhaled Buxton, glad to see her comrade in one piece.

Chester did not respond to her though, and rather shot a glare at Drusus. It was not a thankful look or even one of surprise, but rather one of condemnation. He did not care that the mage had saved his life – he was a mage, and all mages were capable of great evil. “This isn’t over yet. These walls might hold for a while, but the gate will be the first thing to go. We need to secure it.” He said with a cold voice as he rose to his feet, his attention now turned back to their leader.

“Agreed; if it goes we’ll need to keep the infected in the bottleneck. Mathis and Gwenyfar, with me. The rest go with Sir Chester to the gate. Do whatever you can to stop them getting in!”
Kevin Collins

Note: A hider won't work. Please clarify me if I had some mistakes in my app, I'll edit it. :)

Few points:

  • Sheet could use a quick once over as the grammar is on the rough side.
  • Club has only been active for four years, so your timeline is a bit out.
  • Your character killed a police officer? That's a pretty big deal and deserves more than one or two sentences.

The hider issue was caused by a misaligned code (where the Club Status heading was). I've updated the sheet to fix this problem.

I'll put the OOC up in the next couple of days, once I've finished my own CS.

Jedi Padawan Rylos Shimazu

Name: Rylos Shimazu
Age: 21
Species: Human (technically a cyborg)
Appearance: Rylos stands at around 6ft and has an average build. Like most Jedi, he is physically fit and carries with him large muscles that have seen years of training. He is olive skinned with a good complexion and has thick dark hair. His most distinguishing features are his implants that are visible on various parts of his body; the most obvious ones being the ones beneath his eyes on his ears. Were it not for his implants, Rylos would probably be considered moderately handsome. Rylos tends to wear typical Jedi attire; a brown robe over grey clothes.

Force Abilities:
  • Core Abilities - Telekenesis, Mind Control, Force Jump and Force Speed
  • Force Empath – Rylos has a very strong ability to empathise with others through the force. Using this ability he is able to read their emotions, and can almost always tell when someone is lying. As an extension of this, he is also able to reflect his own emotions onto others when they are particularly strong (but he doesn’t really have control over this). Unfortunately, given how strong this ability is, he can occasionally be bombarded with the emotions of others.

Non-Force Abilities:
  • Lightsaber combat – Rylos, like most Jedi, has a good understanding of Form I (Shii-Cho). As was the case with many Jedi of his time, he was more used to coming up against blaster fire than melee weapons (especially when investigating crime syndicates); as a result he was taught Form III (Soresu) by his master. Following his master’s footsteps, he wields a yellow lightsaber.
  • Pain Resistance – Rylos has cybernetic implants that help regulate his chemical and hormonal reactions to reduce pain. These were implanted after his force empathy kept leading him to developing migraines. He can still very much feel pain though, and can be physically injured as easily as any other human. It’s not particularly healthy for him to rely on this, and the implant leaves him vulnerable to electronic attacks.
  • Investigator – As the pupil of a Jedi Investigator, Rylos has spent years taking part in investigations and has learned a great deal. From analysing crime scenes to interviewing witnesses, Rylos is on his way to becoming a top-notch investigator. He has experience combating both crime and hostile political actions (e.g. assassinations).
  • Shuttle Pilot – Having become accustomed to traveling around on the core planets, Rylos is now competent at flying the average commercial shuttle. He has yet to fly anything capable of space flight though.

Personality/Motivation:
Rylos is a very kind and social individual, with a very strong moral compass. He is able to form bonds quickly and often people are quick to trust him. It is his strong sense of empathy that guides him and gives him a strong sense of justice. Because of his use of Force Empathy, he often feels a range of emotions and this separates him from many of his brothers and sisters. Although they are not always his emotions per say, because he often feels things like anger and sadness he could be considered a grey Jedi. Despite all this, he has very good control over his actions; if he acted on every emotion (especially when they weren’t his own), he’d have fallen long ago.

Because he is an Empath, sometimes he can be prone to mood swings and if there’s too much going on he can become confused and pained. He finds it hard to do harm to others because he often feels the pain that he causes them. Those around him should be (but often aren’t) aware that his emotions can also be reflected onto them.

Biography:

Secrets:
Whilst those that know Rylos are probably aware of his ability to use Force Empathy, only a couple of people truly understand the extent of this ability. This is not a secret per say, but rather something that he tries to be discreet about.

Rylos made many contacts in SBI and Republic Intelligence, many of whom talked to him and Leneer without telling their superiors (particularly where the SBI and Isard where concerned).

Relations:
Bastila Leneer – The Jedi Knight and Investigator that took on Rylos as a Padawan. Unlike other Jedi, she did not see Rylos’ high levels of emotion and empathy as a negative thing, knowing that it could make him an effective investigator. The two became very close and had very much a brother/sister type relationship.

Captain Dyne – Rylos has worked with Captain Dyne on multiple occasions, with Dyne often acting as the Republic Intelligence’s liaison to Leneer and Rylos. Following the Battle of Coruscant, Rylos and Leneer were sent to try find Dyne, who had last been seen following the trail of Darth Sidious beneath 500 Republica. Unfortunately they were unable to find any signs of Dyne nor the Sith Lord.

Worror Taldura – Rylos remembers Worror from the Academy, but did not ever have much interaction with him. He remembered how calm and safe he felt in his presence.

T'ish Keth - Rylos has previously worked with T'ish, the two of them once saving the life of Senator Fang Zar. As the two Jedi spend considerable amounts of time of Coruscant they occasionally bump into each other, and if so, will usually share a few kind words.
[OTHER PLAYER RELATIONS TBF]
Awkward. Just reread everyone's character sheets and noticed there's multiple Investigators. Don't know how I missed that first time round. Feel like an idea stealing monster now.
Can someone quickly remind me: Do Jedi construct their lightsabers before or after becoming padawans?

(I thought it was after, but I've ready a couple of things that contradict that)
Can anyone remember if Drusus' magical abilities were known to the others? I don't think he's demonstrated them yet. I don't want to have him use magic in his next post only for Captain to come back and be like "Hey! That was supposed to be a secret!" :P
@Fat Boy Kyle I only have two comments.

1) Force Empathy is one of the few Force Skills that seems to come naturally, control of it is learned. Perhaps that is why he always misbehaved? ;)

2) Why Isard? Why these two Jedi?

That is all. Convince me on these points and you're good.

1) Not sure what exactly your asking xP

2) I was trying to think of a character that would likely be under investigation by the Jedi at the time. My first thought was Palpatine, because they did investigate him (by having Anakin Spy on him), due to him becoming too powerful. Obviously I wasn't going to have my character investigating Palpatine though! Then I thought: 'wouldn't the Jedi also want to keep tabs on his close allies?' And eventually settled on Isard. Then I thought, if these two were investigating Isard, wouldn't Mace (after discovering the true identity of Darth Sidious) want his close allies to be arrested? Which is why I said that the two jedi were going to arrest him. Why my two in particular? Because they're investigators and I couldn't see any reason why that would clash with the lore. You could argue that they'd want more experienced Jedi doing a job like that, but then again most were busy at that time.

If my character really has left a completely bad taste in your mouth from the offset, I wouldn't be opposed to making a new one from scratch.
