Plot: The world of Vexus is home to many legends and prophecies. A world once run by swords and sorcery, with violent wars being raged for land, kingdoms rose and fell within generations of each other. After a period of time in which recorded history by scholars, journalists and novelists mysteriously vanished to the void, it has been hinted at only in ancient hieroglyphs of the purging of humanity.
The All-Father, Odin, the highest and most esteemed God of worship among the dwellers of Vexus, was said to have descended from his holy throne. With a single swing of his mighty spear, continents were cut in half. With his rumored all-seeing eye, he put forth a declaration: only those capable of good things and people pure of heart would be permitted to remain in existence. For an entire week, he and his deified armies brought forth a purge of all the corrupt warlords and dictators of the world. What remained was a single, large continent which was banished to another realm, filled with all of the remaining people who Odin deemed worthy of a second chance.
"After 1500 years without brutality on your old world's scale in this new dimension, I will permit all of your souls to join me in Valhalla where you shall each know what it means to be a God."
His booming voice reached everyone whom it concerned, and thus began the start of Vexus II.
All was not easy, however. In the new dimension, creatures other than humans were discovered to coexist with them. It started off the way any relationship would: completely neutral. Yet as time went on, the creatures grew hungry. And with hunger comes desperation. These wild beasts, which came to be called Godless for their stern rebellion against peace, hunted and murdered humans as they attempted to rebuild society.
Pressured, and realizing magic and swordsmanship on their own, rituals were conducted to band together their knowledge of both engineering and magic. The first of the legendary Vorpal-class swords was crafted, Mortalion. With it, its wielder managed to fight back hordes of the Godless and set up outposts which towns and walls were eventually built around.
Magic swords were only the first step, however: the combination of magic and engineering eventually lead to the creation of the now-modern art of alchemy. Considered the successor to magic and the "savior skill" which would drive back the Godless and sustain themselves until the 1500 years were up, technology boomed into a bright new age where magic on its own was put on the sidelines.
With the new art came the need to teach people in massive numbers. Thus, alchemy schools began to open up around Vexus II. In the very capital city one such school by the name of Halstein Academy opened their doors, and for centuries taught the best and brightest that went on to subdue the Godless to the point of even taming some for personal use and utilizing alchemy to make them into more human-like creatures.
The year is currently 799 of the Aether Age. Staying true to what Odin said, mankind has yet to wage war against itself. While there are minor rebellions every now and again or protests, true war has not yet broken out with the exception of self-defense against Godless attacks.
Your role in all this, though? Well, for your own personal reasons, you chose to apply to Halstein Academy to learn alchemy from the best alchemists of Vexus II. Last week you received the letter saying you were accepted, and today is the day of your orientation. At the academy where people become the new hope for the world, how will you choose to change it?
So yeah, long intro, I know. I've been getting into Mana Khemia again so I was inspired to create an RP based off of the Atelier series; though that doesn't mean you NEED to know anything about it, really. Especially since this is simply inspired, not actually taking place in the setting of it. Alchemy will work like it does in MK/Atelier for those that know what I mean, but for those that don't: it's not FMA alchemy, it's more like... sit down at a cauldron and make things with recipes, including upgrading weapons, making armor, or whatever else your imagination can come up with really. It ain't just potions.
But yeah. 4 people (not including myself) is my goal for now. Might accept a 5th after seeing how things go IC, though.
