Well, looks like we got our four. I'll put up an OOC either later today or early tomorrow.
A warm tavern on a dark and stormy night in a kingdom in trouble, sounds like the most stereotypical place to begin.
So the general consensus is, I recently stumbled upon this topic while Googling for a RWBY tabletop to play. With volume 4 recently out I've been beyond hyped with this series again, and figured I'd give it a try.

Now I realize this will require more effort than usual, since it's very unlikely that many people have read up on these rules yet.

Even so, if anyone else wants to do this I'm looking for 4 people to make it work.

In terms of plot, however, I'm not planning on the same kind of school atmosphere as volumes 1 - 3.

Admittedly I don't have the full details worked out yet, but it would take place in the far past, back during the war between the kingdoms before peace was achieved. The four of you would be either mercenaries recently hired by one of the kingdoms as front line fighters, or as actual soldiers fighting for one of the kingdoms. It would also be AU considering that things could be altered and contradict the timeline of the series.

Obviously, keeping in touch with naming conventions, the names would have to be related to colors/referencing some sort of mythical/historical figure. The name of your team, and by extension the RP itself, will be determined by the first letters of your character's names, so let's also all try to find a name combo that works, yeah?

That being said I'm still learning this system too, so I'm sure it'd be a learning experience for everyone involved. But I'm willing to do it if others are.

Anyone on board for this?
Name: Tony Fellstone
Age: 18
Appearance:

Personality: Tony is the kind of young adult that's in it for glory more than some sort of selfless desire to become a hero. Rather than risk his neck fighting for his life, he'd much rather run and live to tell about it if a situation looks grim. Never one to decline a challenge however, his egotistical nature can't take being insulted or underestimated. Rather than relying on brute strength, Tony elects to settle matters with cunning and creativity - more due to the fact that he's learned that physical power isn't his strong suit from many painful lessons in the past.

History: Tony is the eldest son of the fabled "Fellstone Fortune" - belonging to the Fellstone noble house, which has fallen into a state of disarray for generations now. When their family's vault containing many legendary weapons was lost, they were disgraced and disregarded as a power among noble houses; treated as a laughingstock and as nobility purely in blood ties.

His father soon stepping down from the mantle of leader of the noble house, Tony is forced to step up as next in line to inherit the burden of regaining the Fellstone Fortune. Thus, with what money they could scrounge together, he was sent to Seishun Academy to learn from the best.

Specialty:

- Scavenger: Tony has a talent for seeing value in even the most useless of garbage. He can salvage almost any type of material, damaged or not, and reforge it successfully into something better than it ever was before.

- Perceptive: Going along with Tony's less strength-oriented fighting style, he's able to easier work out and detect weaknesses of enemies he fights, revealing their crippling weaknesses easier than many.

- Duelist: Tony's equipment preferences include rapiers, short swords, bucklers and light/cloth armor. Much like many noble houses, when forced into a fair confrontation his style is that of a refined fencer. Though underneath that guise, he believes that on a battlefield any amount of mishaps can take shape.
Name: Baldwin Voidblade
Title/Nickname: The Exiled
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Profession: Death Knight
Trope/Archetype: Black Knight
Equipment:

- Dragondeath: A greatsword of pure evil capable of radiating dark energy, it can release waves of darkness at its master's command. Should it be broken or lost, it will return to him within 24 hours fully repaired.

- Black Armor: Other than that, he wears a set of black metal knight's armor that completely covers his body; adorned with a stylish white tattered cape. Image for reference.

Background: Once fought for the king of a far off land, but left after being framed for attempted assassination on them. Painted his armor black in rebellion and sought the dark powers of the Dragondeath blade. Ready now as a Death Knight, he wanders in search of a new life as a mysterious and intimidating warrior.

Pros:

- Intimidating: His gruff voice and intimidating demeanor and posture peg him as someone to be feared and respected.

- Swordsmanship: As the former soldier of a king, his swordplay is far above that of a common man and rivals the finest of knights.

- Unyielding: With the level of stamina he's attained moving in that armor without ever taking it off, some would almost consider him something other than human. His drive to keep moving and stay alive is unbelievable for a human.

Cons:

- Honorbound: Baldwin is a man of high honor, and if he is ever challenged to a duel, he cannot turn it down even in the most dire of circumstances. He will actively attack anyone who tries to interfere between him and his opponent, as well; friend and foe alike.

- Gynophobia: A phobia he never got over was his crippling fear of women. Young, old, whatever. He gets real quiet and shuts down real fast when a woman is in conversation with him. The only exception is when he's forced into a fair and honorable duel against a woman.

- Dragondeath: Ever since his quest for power began he's been obsessed with it. Its evil charms him, keeps him loyal and in line. Should anyone try to steal it or even worse - should it be broken or lost somehow - he will be sent into an unstoppable rage against the person who caused it. He will also stop at nothing to retrieve even a single piece of the blade to regain his sanity.

Other: Despite being a Death Knight he would still be fully willing to tag along with a party of heroes to fulfill his quest for power.
Been playing a lot of Monster Hunter and God Eater recently. With that, you can imagine my interest here.
Atelier Iris was a fun game, it has been a while since I played it but I like the idea of a crafting themed RP.

Yeah! I was considering making a tabletop version with more rules, but figured I'd make a more casual version first to see how things go.
@Shoryu Magami I mean, it does seem to be a lot more casual than even a lot of casual RPs from what I understand. I wouldn't worry about making a complex Tolkien-style backstory for a character, but if it's what you want to do I also don't wanna tell ya not to; especially since I'm not even the guy in charge here anyway! All I'll say is that I was thinking backstory would be confined to vague details at best that are filled in as things progress, but if everything checks out I got no problem with it either.

If it really comes down to it and you're legitimately 50/50 on it... flip a coin, maybe? Or roll a D20 for more fitting flavor.
@Shoryu Magami We can be exiles together then! Honestly I just thought about the most stereotypical "Dark Knight" character I could and it basically just wrote itself. =P
