I am... gone for a couple of hours and come back to two pages discussing religions. Right... Uhm...
The Grand Provinces were allowed to keep their own religion at first, but had to assign a leader of the Emperiat Faith in their court, as to make sure that certain rules weren't broken.
The religion the Province of Emperiat follows, is the Faith of Man. Which basically means that great, important people, can be elevated into... well, not godhood... but rather... Paragonship. (Think Dwarves of Dragon Age if you will)
Kinda silly of me to forget mentioning that, really.

@Bright_Ops Hm... This is getting quite full. If you can change the position (or ask other people to change position) of your province, that'd be great. The edges of the Badlands are getting quite crowded.
Also, it's still a bit too magicy for my taste. What
@Kho said is basically what I had in mind: Voodoo, shamanism, spirit stuff. Most of it is fake, but there are those who are... gifted. Do with that what you will.
