Long ago, humans had a wide domain, spreading throughout the vast Terra's biomes.
This is, of course, long ago.
Every year, for two weeks at a time, an eclipse affects both the sun and moon. This allowed demons to run rampant in the human realm even in the day, and makes all of them even stronger during the night. Humanity slowly weakened year by year by the onslaughts brought on by the Blood Moon and the Black Sun, as they were forced to retreat and compact into smaller and smaller havens that disappeared after the next eclipse. Unable to become stronger, or rebuild, or develop quickly enough, humankind quickly approached extinction.
But, not all monsters were mindless; among the more civilized monsters were vampires. They were the race closest to humans, some once being human themselves. But of course, that's not why they were helping them. Vampires fed on human blood, and they too would inevitably disappear with humans from starving to extinction. Knowing these facts, the king of the vampires and the last king of humanity met to make a deal that would shape their races' futures. Vampires, in exchange for a safe and easy supply of blood, would help protect humanity from the monstrous threat. A system was devised for harvesting blood, and their pact was sealed.
Although this was originally met with some controversy throughout both sides, the wrinkles were ironed out as they fought and grew side-by-side. Humans discovered magic, and vampires used it to create better weapons and armor. As humans and vampires grew to accept each other more, they also began to allow other monsters into society; that is, of course, only if they're domesticated or follow the rules. But even with the newfound peace and acceptance, the Black Sun still occurs. In fact, soon, those two weeks of war will begin. In recent years, the monsters seem to have become more powerful. There has been a larger sense of dread than before, as if the darkness itself has begun to manifest into a monster of its own....

Notes about the RP:
- For the most part, this will be lower Casual in terms of the amount you should post. A single, but slightly longer paragraph would do. Of course, more is perfectly fine!
- While there are forms of transportation aside from monsters and simply walking, machinery is both very limited and requires a large amount of magical power to use, thus making it relatively inefficient.
- Many devices are powered using orbs charged with magic.
- Magic usually varies with their personality of the user and their race. Vampires will almost always be able to use hemomancy, while humans tend to just have slightly stronger magic all around. Magic is usually based on nature or its principals(I.E. Fire, Water, Electricity, Light, Time). Not everyone is able to use magic.

The human and vampire settlement of Lero was the point from which humanity began to recover from the monster attacks, following the pact between vampires and humans. At the center stands a statue of the original vampire king Soren and human king Lenero, back-to-back, directly in front of city hall. Also located in the center is the majority of the graveyards, where spirits of the fallen rise to take up arms against the monsters. There is a large amount of military influence here.
Lero is rather spread-out, but is very crowded in the western wing, where the marketplace is located. There are notably more food stalls than other shops like armories or clothing stores. Due to the variety of monsters living in Lero, dishes often vary greatly from one stall to the next. Located towards the edges of the market are clothing/magic stores. The two stores are often combined, since enchanted cloth is lighter and gives more all-around defensive coverage. Despite this, it's very rare for someone to have due to the costs of creating and enchanting the material.
In the northern and southern quarters are the majority of the homes. While the wealth is fairly even throughout the two sectors, many of the richer clans live in the northern quarter.
The eastern part of the city is a huge park, where the occasional sporting event takes place.

______________
My Character:
Name: L'yr Vatell
Age: 20
Race: Half-Elemental
Personality: L'yr tends to be rather.... untethered to his surroundings. He's easily distracted by the wind, and often has trouble reading mood if he just entered the room. While L'yr puts on an optimistic, confident face for the people around him, he truly feels the opposite; L'yr has seemingly permanent dysthymia and gets incredibly anxious around others. Though he can't remember the reason why he's sad or scared at all, he hasn't been able to just let it go. L'yr has difficulty comprehending the feeling of anger, usually ending up more confused than angry. He usually looks at the clouds when he feels this way.
Appearance:
A sword sheath is attached to his left hip, and thick plate armor covers his left arm and shoulder.
Equipment: L'yr carries around a long, heavy sword with a triangular blade he calls the Grand Fang; it has three edges for cutting, three faces for crushing, and a point for stabbing. It has a crystalline core that absorbs his magic. He also carries a compact umbrella and a few cans of soul soup(it's surprisingly popular with humans).
Primary Magic: Due to his elemental/human nature, his secondary magic is not only strengthened, but can act as an aura.
Secondary Magic: L'yr utilizes void magic, which moves matter into a secondary dimension. While it normally just turns back into energy and disperses, it can be used to fuel other spells if used in quick succession. However, missing with it causes a huge drain on energy.
Bio: L'yr was born normal. He had no magic abilities, despite being half-elemental, and was just decent at everything else. The only skills he stood out in was swordsmanship and smithing, which was why he joined the defense forces when he was 16. Though he was still under-par in terms of skill, his Fang helped him survive the waves of monsters. However, on one of the Blood Moons, a terrible incident occurred.
During the battle, a particularly destructive void elemental began breaking through the main wall of defenders and, by something between luck and misfortune, L'yr got a heavy blow on the elemental. On the verge of death, it fused to L'yr to steal his body. Due to his half-blood, he managed to survive this, but was conscious when he used as a vessel to kill his comrades. Eventually, a vampire came to him and managed to dispel the parts of the elemental that hadn't fully fused to him. However, this was accomplished by wiping the elemental's memory. Inadvertently, it also caused L'yr to forget his past, but his identity somehow remained.
When he regained consciousness, L'yr had to start a new life; not wanting to dredge up bad memories, no one told him about his past, which ultimately resulted in an "unknown" source of sadness and anxiety. As he was relearning his skills, he suddenly could use void magic with ease, as if he had always had it. Although slightly unsettled by this, he re-entered the military force for work.
