Separ
Separ punched another kobold in the face with a quick and brutal flurry knocking it to the ground before hearing the cloaked girl frantically ask him why he was here.
"Isn't that obvious? We have to work together if we're going to survive." Separ yelled back, only to watch as she replied saying she could create a diversion. The cloaked girl stabbed her scythe into the ground just as two more skeletons popped out of the ground to continue fighting. Wait, skeletons? Separ turned to face a skeleton who scratched at a goblin's face causing it to bleed profusely. The gruesome sight made Separ realize this whole time skeleton's had been fighting. Sure he saw them earlier but he had kind of ignored them and focused on the group of kobolds and goblins instead. Now it was all so apparent as to what was going on though. The situation they were in. It was obvious, the leader must have been a necromancer, summoning undead creatures to attack the civilians. They probably couldn't tell the difference between friend and foe, but the fact that they were here was scary. If Separ were to knock one down would it just get back up reassembling itself? Would they come after Separ next? Would they go after the girl? Separ turned towards the girl to see that she had fallen over. "...change...of plans.....you run....I'm in no condition....to move..." No, no, no! This could not be happening. Not only did Separ have to save her from both the goblins, and kobolds but now he had to deal with skeletons.
I need to get us out of here now. Thought Separ as he quickly ran towards her. Only then did a gigantic version of a kobold appear, covered in metal armor and wielding a broadsword. "Out of my way I don't have time for you." Screamed Separ as he punched the kobold in the stomach. The attack didn't seem to phase him though, and instead the kobold laughed and raised its weapon about to bring it down on Separ. In a panic Separ quickly attacked with four different gut-busters at the creatures stomach.
"I said out of my way!" Separ was now frantic, as he noticed one of the skeletons was making its way over towards them, but his attacks were weakened and unfocused as he was both tired and scared now, but with four gut busters the kobold couldn't help but throw up a little, vomit dripping onto its chin. The kobold was now incredibly pissed off that its attack had been interrupted, and that it had puked over itself. With anger the creature swung its sword in a fury only for the sword to miss, and the kobold to hit the ground with a thud. Separ noticed that the back of the kobold's head was bleeding, but what had caused it? Certainly his gut-busters shockwave was not nearly that powerful. Only then did one of the skeleton's jump on top of the kobold only to scratch at the back of it's head, trying to pierce the brain.
"Sweet heavens!" Yelled Separ as the skeleton quickly finished with its job and turned, looking at him.
"Screw this!" Yelled Separ as he was reinvigorated with energy after seeing the skeleton. His fear was pressing him forwards, spurning him onwards, pushing him to new heights. He ran past the skeleton and ran over to the cloaked girl picking her up in a princess carry.
"I'm getting us out of here." He charged off down an alleyway only for another group of kobolds and goblins to appear as he reached the opening. The group of hostile enemies noticed him immediately and brandished their weapons ready to attack. Thinking quickly Separ hopped onto the debris and started running skillfully on top of it. This type of terrain was no big deal for Separ, but he knew that the goblins and kobolds would either have to go around the debris, or try to stumble through it carefully. This would be his advantage!
"Don't worry, we'll make it out of here for sure." Said Separ. His face now had a look of determination, as though he was committed to escaping any way he could and at the same time, he looked like he was straining heavily. As though every second he spent running was draining him of precious energy. Separ continued to run on the debris of various buildings as the goblins and kobolds tried to follow after him to no avail. As he continued running a small goblin popped out from behind a broken wardrobe. It wielded a hammer and tried to hit Separ but before it could do so a swift kick sent the creature stumbling backwards. Separ readjusted his grip on the girl and continued to run. He ran for who knows how long, but eventually they were able to make it to the outskirts of the small town of Ravenwood. Kobolds and goblins still tried to follow him but Separ had a large lead by now. In fact, a lot of these buildings weren't even touched. With every ounce of energy he had, Separ continued to focus on running. Focusing on nothing but to run away and reach safety. It was this focus that allowed him to finally escape into the woods and out of sight. Eventually Separ lowered the girl to the ground and sat down next to her feeling extremely exhausted.
"A...are you al...alright?" Asked Separ as he glanced at her.
"Y...you fell down pretty h...hard back there. Try not to push yourself, and p...please don't run off alone. You really had me worried." Said Separ as he flashed her a small smile. Yet, it was obvious that Separ himself was already pushed past his limits. His breathing was now ragged and if any goblins and kobolds were to appear now, Separ would not be able to fight. Not in his condition. As much as Separ hated to admit it, he doubt he could even stand if he tried. Separ thought about all the other people he had met today, were they still okay?
"D...do you th...think the others are o...o...kay?" He asked her. Of course he immediately regretted asking, as he feared the worst for them. Sure he and the girl had escaped, but only just barely. What if the others didn't manage to escape at all? The thought made Separ feel sick, and all he could hope for was the best.
