The second Professor Maple gave the go-ahead, Viola was digging through the Pokéball box. She checked a few and set them aside before pulling out one marked with the eye symbol for a Psychic-type.

"Ralts, huh? I've heard good things about this species... especially the bonds they develop with their Trainers."

She closed her eyes and concentrated for a couple of seconds, then nodded.

"That's the one, all right. I'll take good care of you."

She stepped back from the boxes and pressed the button on Ralts' Pokéball, releasing it onto the counter beside her.

"Ralts?"

The tiny Pokémon looked up at Viola curiously, staring at her through its helmet-like crest.

"Hey there, Ralts. I'm Viola. I'm going to be a Pokémon Trainer, and I'd like you to be my first partner. What do you say?"

"Ra!"

It nodded enthusiastically and held its arms out to be picked up, which Viola did. She clipped the Pokéball onto the strap of her bag and walked back over to wait for the professor's return, with Ralts sitting happily in her arms.

This is a good beginning. Together, I know we can do anything we set our minds to. That's something we have in common, after all. The power of the mind.
Well, glad I can count on getting Mega Gardevoir, then.
Viola practically skipped into the room behind Percy, not bothering to hide her excitement. She smiled at him as she passed, going straight to the box of Pokéballs and looking into it.

"It's very nice to meet you, Professor. And you too, Percy. I'm Viola."

She moved over to the box of eggs and took a look inside, then stepped back to let the professor speak.

"I can't tell you how much I've been looking forward to this. The beginning of a Pokémon trainer's journey!"
@JudgeApatow@geminironin Since we're waiting on the others to get on and post (Or one of us) why don't we pick megas? You cant pick Darkrai or Cresselia but any other works. This wont be your ONLY mega, but it will be the only one you can pick.

I call Mega Raichu.

I'll still go with Mega Delphox, that Fire/Psychic combo is too good to pass on.

Also, I'm probably going to be quiet until later tonight, I'm away from the net for a while.
There's at least one way of dealing reliable damage in that match-up. And hey, maybe learning about Berries could come in handy.
Viola raised an eyebrow at the term "Pokéballer," but resisted the urge to comment on it. She grabbed a recent issue of Pokémon Racing Superstars and flipped through it as she continued the conversation.

"Well, it wasn't all books. I'm from Alto Mare, an island in the Johto region. We have canals running throughout the city, so we tend to use Water-type Pokémon to travel."

She folded over the magazine, showing Wim a picture of herself standing next to a Milotic and holding up a trophy.

"And when we get bored? We race."

Viola groaned internally at the mention of food.

"Well, they go really well on top of waffles, and... ugh, I'm just torturing myself. I think I'll check out the book collection."

She stood up and walked over to the shelves, looking for anything related to local knowledge. She spoke to Wim without turning to look at him.

"Really, I knew most of what was in there already. I did a lot of studying for Trainer Exams, back home. I guess it won't matter here. We probably don't even need licences..."
I wouldn't mind a rescue.
Especially when it comes time to battle... That ain't going well for Elekid.
Ah, I can see it now.
