Same here, I have a holiday coming up which I've been packing for. My post should be up by the end of today.
@Inertia@LazyEgg

Thank you, very much. I have been trying to improve my vocabulary and fluidity skills, so any mistakes or criticisms are welcomed. It goes without saying that your guys' characters are truly A++ quality. They never fail to make me laugh.

One could be surprised that the man didn’t turn to stone upon glancing at her wrathful eyes. That wrath, however, seemed short-lived as her attention shifted towards Wednesday, who seemed to be on a mission of her own.

No. No, no, no. She wanted to stop her, desperately, but the fear sweltering inside rendered her speechless. All she could do was watch as the woman, balancing herself against a tree, took a heated, yellowish index finger to her wound. The pain etched on Wednesday’s face was enough to make even Estal wince at her own phantom pain. Or was she wincing at the deathly guilt expanding inside of her? Or perhaps the legendary arse-whooping Wednesday was bound to inflict upon finding out that she went through all of that, unnecessarily. Oh. Oh, she was going to be livid when she finds out that Estal has the ability to heal.

Holy shit.

Perhaps it would be safer to just not tell her? But, but what if she asked what her power was? She seemed to have been the only one not to have used her powers, thus far, what happens when Wednesday gets curious? Maybe she should lie, tell them she has the useless ability to cry acid tears, then run off and claim some abandoned building, adopting a hermit-like existence? Possibly. It would be feasible that Wednesday might just let the pain of wound transferring be enough of a punishment.

The lethal glare that Wednesday threw towards them did not go unnoticed by Estal. In fact, she could feel her heart flutter, as if it had missed a couple dozen beats before continuing at the rate of a rabbit’s.

She knew. Oh shit, she knew. This. This was how she was going to die. Stuck on this damn island, surrounded by some completely insane individuals. One, who could fire bullets out of thin air like a freaking rifle, another who could probably strangle someone to death using the power of fucking weeds, and the other, the other was most certainly going to incinerate her. I mean, there were many injuries she could regenerate from, being burnt to a crisp, however, was not one of them.

Despite her fears, she continued to follow the others through the foliage, managing to linger a whole few metres behind Wednesday. It wasn’t clear whether it was obvious that she was keeping her distance, but the sound of her trembling breaths could certainly be heard from a mile away. In every. Single. Direction.

"Es, you can go ahead with Wednesday. I'll keep an eye on Jack, we'll catch up."

What? No, Rico, don’t lea- She twisted round, her eyes pleading, but it was too late. Rico had already fallen behind, distancing himself from the two women. Upon turning her head back forwards, she noticed that she had seemingly got a couple inches closer to her impending doom. She felt like a child, a child who’d lied about breaking an expensive vase and was awaiting an almighty spanking from her omniscient parents. It wasn’t like she was a coward or anything, it was just, who knew what an unstable, frightening woman was capable of? Okay... truth be told, she was a little bit of a coward. If it’s not in the heat of the moment, her bark is beyond any doubt, bigger then her bite. She hated to admit it, but it was so very true.

Could she be over-reacting?

Her thoughts returned to the moment she’d met Wednesday, how she’d, without even so much as a glimmer of hesitation, nearly swooped Rico’s head clean off. Estal glanced at the make-shift machete that hung from the woman’s side.

Yes, she was definitely going to kill her.

She could feel the beading of sweat running down her face and moistening her palms. Was it getting warmer here, or was it just her? Estal rubbed her hands together, attempting to quicken her pace and close the gap between the surely agitated predator and the soon-to-be prey. If she was going to come clean, she better do it sooner rather then later. Wednesday was plausibly a reasonable person, hopefully, she would just have to explain why she didn’t help out back there, then everything would be fine, right?

About a foot was all that separated them now. “Erm, Wednesday...” She whispered solemnly. “I, er, I, er...” She trailed off, attempting to gather her bearings. “I can... I can heal you.”

"You... you hiding there. Are you a friend of that man who attacked me earlier? "

Estal spun round, shooting a glance towards the voice and then to the direction he was looking at. At first, she couldn’t see anything but vegetation. On closer inspection, the outline of a figure seemed to unravel before her. Christ, she wouldn’t have ever spotted that, her eyes didn’t seem as sharp as the others. Nonetheless, she tensed up, eyeing the figure and then back towards the others, watching to see how the scene unfolded. She’d made sure she was ready to back them up, if need be.

@JunkMail I feel as though Wednesday's going to be pretty pissed when she finds out what Estal's power is. xD

"Woah missy, I'd rather not be touched, I have notouchytouch-phobia, a real thing I assure you, my doctors told me about it."

Arsehole. This one had balls, she’d give him that. He should be counting his lucky stars that she couldn’t manipulate fire, or she’d roast the sarcastic prick. Sometimes she wished that her powers were a little more... offensive. Because really, if she could get close enough to someone to be able to touch them, then she might as well stab them instead.

Her attention was brought back to her comrades, the spew of profanities that followed her question was more then enough insight that indeed, someone had been hurt.

"I've been better."

The smell of blood flooded her senses, that thick, metallic scent - she knew it all too well. Estal stared at Wednesday, whose arm was firmly gripping her wound with her body arched over. Her instincts told her to just grab the woman and transfer the wound, to heal it right there and then. She’d done it so many times before, it was almost second-nature to her.

But yet, she didn’t.

Her limbs started to tremble, her eyes panic-stricken as she just stood there, frozen. Her attention focused solely on the woman’s shoulder.

She could feel herself loosing it.

Let’s just say she’d been having some difficulties concerning her life absorption abilities. Frankly, they were a little out of control. It was to be expected after the emotionally intensive time being captured and shipped to some random island brought to someone. Her confidence of whether touching Wednesday would heal her, or kill her, was vastly dwindling.

“I, er, em... I, erm-” She stuttered, her words becoming little more then complete garble. Telling them of her healing abilities was the only thing she could think of, and even that she was unable to do. It was safe to say she didn’t react well to stressful situations, especially those that involved people. She’d lived a pretty sheltered life, up until recently, the introvert of the introverted being a fitting title. Or simply put, a socially inept mess. It was pathetic. She was pathetic.

Suddenly, Estal reached out her hands, ready to grasp Wednesday's shoulder in a fury of, slightly violent, frustration. She was but a mere few inches away before stopping abruptly, cut off by the harsh glow that emanated from the woman’s arm. And not just glow; heat.

Hell no. She retreated immediately. Her prior curiosity had been thoroughly abandoned, along with any notion of healing. Finding out Wednesday’s powers by getting her hands torched off was not what she had in mind. There was absolutely no chance. Perhaps later, was probably wiser.

Instead, she averted her attention towards the newcomer, their ‘attacker’, who of course, pleaded his friendliness. Believable. She shot a glance towards Rico, out of all of them, she probably trusted him the most, however odd he may be. She gave the man, who had just appeared into eye-shot, the dirtiest glare she could muster.

“Just give me a reason.”

Rico and Wednesday, got it. She turned, making eye contact with the man before following Wednesday into the undergrowth as she hacked away a path.

The tension was rising, and everyone was thus on high alert. It was a peculiar feeling she had around these two, something about them made her feel safe, or, safer. Right now, trusting them was more of a requirement then of willingness, however, they did seem to know what they were doing. Their behaviour conveyed that of chronic edginess, it didn’t take a genius to understand why. Arkos had a reputation for being dangerous and being home to, well, some unsavoury characters. For now, she would have to adopt her companion’s paranoia and be watchful of her surroundings.

Her eyes darted across the darkening forest as the three continued to walk, pieces of greenery snagging the bottom of her trousers. She looked down, shaking them and brushing off the lingering traces of sand that clung to her knees. Upon raising her head, she was surprised by the sight of the once lush overgrowth in front of them, withered down into a dark, crunchy mess for a few meters ahead. She turned, noticing Rico’s extended arm. Huh, plant-bitch. It had nearly been forgotten that she was with other superhumans as a growing sense of curiosity crawled through her. If Rico could kill plants, assuming that was his only ability, what could Wednesday do?

Her thoughts were interrupted by the string of events which followed the snapping of a twig. Before she knew it, a reddish blur came hauling towards them, causing her to instinctively duck to the ground. Eh? A flood of rage shook her once it was clear, to her, that they were being attacked. “Just let me touch the fucker!” She shouted, standing up and stepping closer towards the voice. Until, or course, she remembered that she was dealing with unknown powers. Instead, she looked back towards Rico and Wednesday, her arms shaking slightly. “Are- are you hurt?”

@Inertia "The bellends here defend their castle like constipated knights." It's 2:40AM here, but this got me. xD

@LazyEgg Can I just have a moment to appreciate the spectacular that is your posting layout.

The welcoming from the man surprised her, she had been completely oblivious to him standing there. She was about to thank him for his directions before his offer had fully registered. Teabags? What? Estal stared at him for a moment, the idea of it being a joke sprung to mind. But the man’s serious, yet warming voice made her question otherwise. Was she just supposed to, to hold it? She raised her arm, nervously wiping the sweat that had been gathering on her forehead. Perhaps she was over-thinking it.

She promptly backed up when the woman she had approached swiftly reached for her machete and nearly launched an assault on the guy. No, she was not over-thinking it. These people are completely nuts. She toyed with the idea of backing up and turning tail, to run back to the crowd of aggravated newcomers and try to find someone who was actually sane. But then again, she’d just be going back to where she started. These are the sort of people she’s going to have to live with. Better to try and make some ‘friends’ earlier on, no?

She was right to feel intimidated. This women was bloody frightening. The man, a little more welcoming. It was in situations like these which reminded her of why she doesn’t talk to people.

Estal stepped forward once the woman had put down her weapon, and looked a little more... relaxed. Giving a single, deep breath, she noted the directions and advice given to her. Articulate, articulate, articulate. “Er, well, I, er...” She paused momentarily, her body language still seemingly skittish. “You know what? I-, I don’t know what I’m doing. Do you mind me just following you, wherever you guys are going? If, if that's okay?”

Honestly, she would have left them to find Site Borea by herself if she was actually confident in her own directional skills. Right now, she wouldn’t be able tell you where northeast is, what northeast is, and what direction northeast is in. Perhaps learning some orienteering skills may be helpful. If only wondering around aimlessly, in a random direction, could get you somewhere. She’d be good at that.

She glanced back at the man again, forcing a small smile. “I, er- I think I’ll take you up on that offer.” Switching her gaze from the man, to the woman, and then back again, she continued. “It’s Estal, by the way.”

Her head throbbed mercilessly, pounding as she hunched forward, her vision blurry and unfocused. Pooling sweat dropped from the tip of her nose and onto her tattered trousers as clumps of hair, soaked, remained glued to her skin. Whether caused by the ever-growing heat, her unwavering desperation to escape from this god-forsaken place, or perhaps even both, she wasn’t sure. She wasn’t really sure of anything any more. One thing was certain, though, was that she felt sick. Utterly, sick.

Her hands were tightly bound against her back, digging painfully into a small mass of bruises that had accumulated on her side. The result of being manhandled and shoved onto a ship like cattle, no less. But... why wasn’t it healing? She raised her head slowly, gazing over the several dozen people surrounding her. They must have been blocking their powers, somehow. Estal tussled against her restraints, fidgeting and pulling at them, all to no avail.

Bastards.

The sound of footsteps caught her attention, being the single most interesting thing she’d heard for hours. What followed was basically a repetition of what she had already been told; sent to an island called Arkos, go to Site Borea, daily supply drops, escape warning, and oh yes, a meaningless insult thrown in. How exciting.

A sudden shudder followed by a buzz stirred her alert as light poured through the declining ramp. What proceeded was a clumsy stampede as everyone was shoved off and onto the sand below. It took a few moments to collect herself, adjust to the new, harsh lighting and scramble onto her feet as the rest of the superhumans bulldozed over her. She was dazed, almost unaware as her restraints released and fell to the ground.

Hastily, she clawed at her shirt, pulling it slightly to reveal a meagre clump of bruises. It was already starting to heal. Thank God. She sigh, releasing the fabric from her grasp. At least she had her powers back. Wait, powers? Estal looked around skittishly, never before had she been so close to this many superhumans. If she’d got her powers back, then so had they. She knew she had to get away from the crowd, reciting the place they were told to go; Site Borea.

Estal started to walk away, stumbling across the sand. Where the hell's Site Borea? She tried searching the area, but it all looked the same. They couldn’t have given them a map, maybe? What were they supposed to do? She could feel herself panicking, her breaths becoming shallow and fast. Quickly, she stopped, grasping what little dignity and self-control she had left in an attempt to calm herself down. It was useless wondering in any old direction, she had to think of a plan. She had to ask someone for help. Anyone.

Now slightly more relaxed, she scanned the area for someone who looked like they could be helpful. It wasn’t long before she spotted a figure, sitting near the edge of what seemed to be a forest. Obviously they weren’t on the ship, so they must know where she had to go. Surely.

Estal began to trek towards the figure, acutely aware of her own anxiety building up. She could see the woman clearly now, only being just a distance away. Estal felt slightly intimidated, and frankly, fearful. Who knew what some of these superhumans were capable of?

With a half-hearted stutter, Estal finally spoke. “Erm, hey. I, er...” She stopped, pointing towards the crowd of new arrivals. The woman probably knew where she’d come from, of course. “I, er... Site Borea?” Her attempt to contain her nervousness was poorly executed, resulting in a utterance of awkward gestures. She wasn’t one to articulate herself well with strangers, however, she’d never been completely lost for words like this before.
