Esme hesitated for a second before hurrying after the girl. She was right, there was safety in numbers and it wouldn't hurt to have a quick look around. "Sort of," Esme sighed, she hated talking about it but if others had been kicked out by their parents they might understand. "My sister displayed her powers before I did and our city wasn't too accommodating of," she paused, "Well us. They killed her. They dragged her out of our house and kicked her to death on our lawn," Esme explained, her voice and face impassive. All the emotion had been drained from her, she had nothing else to give. "Her power was just to make things grow. She could have done wonderful things and was no danger to anyone. I heard the mayor warning my mother that she was under observation for having a mut for a daughter. When I accidentally fried our houses circuits when I displayed my power, she said she would turn me in. I knew what would happen. I probably wouldn't live a day past registration. So I ran," Esme explained, her hands shaking. "If they find me I will be sent back and my parents won't protect me."
Finally managing to flee to her ship, Aura managed to get into the air only to see the full extent of the flying firefight. It looked as if the New Republic was winning but it was close. The TIE Interceptors seemed to be replenishing themselves. Her heart screamed at her to join the fight but her brain rationalized differently. Her shields were old and patchy and she would need a co pilot to pilot the guns. This ship was designed for cargo and fleeing, not war.

She saw a column of smoke coming from a downed X-Wing, thankfully not on entirely on fire but it wasn't in good shape. Now that she went to with no hesitation. She was not letting someone die because of her fear and alignment. Her heart argued that it was because she missed the New Republic but that was an argument to dwell on later. She landed next to the crash site and scanned for any survivors. She picked up one life form and dropped the ramp to investigate.

"Why don't you?" Esme asked, her face calming and once again behind the mask she always wore. "What keeps you here? What is it like to have somewhere?" she continued, why would this person want to run when they had everything. A home, some people who cared about you, a place to be safe. She would give up all the freedom in the world to stay in this school but there was no way her parents would pay for a place like this and she didn't want to be registered. She had no option but she wanted to know what a person with options would do.
"This place looks great."
Esme's heart rate began to slow but she still sported the expression of a deer caught in the headlights. Yanking her hand from the wall, she pulled her long sleeves over her hands to try and prevent any more disasters. "I was just passing through. Now if you wouldn't mind letting me past I'll just be on my way," Esme stated, trying to project confidence into her voice and standing a little taller. She hesitantly stepped towards the figure as if she wasn't afraid to use force. She was afraid but the other person didn't need to know that

If this person really wasn't a threat then she should just be let past and be able to get out of here before a teacher or more students came to investigate the lights shortage. It was a disappointment to be ejected so quickly but it was better to move on before she was caught and registered. It was common sense that she would be branded as a danger as soon as the government learnt of what she could do.
The long bang startled Esme out of her sleep and panic rose to the forefront of her mind. She hadn't expected to be found this quickly and she hadn't had enough time to restock and such. Static electricity crackled at her finger tips and she tried to calm her heart enough to think properly. She had to get out of her before someone started checking all the rooms. She was a fool to think that she could sneak into a school of mutants.

Slowly Emse picked up her backpack and reached for the door, inching it open. At first she couldn't see anyone but as soon as she stepped out into the corridors he spotted the girl stood blocking her exit. Once again panic flooded her system and she made her biggest mistake yet. When she spun round to flee from the girl, she accidentally leant against the light switch. Power flow through her body and the lights flickered. She fired at at the feet of her captor but it was too late. The lights flickered off
Aura had to get out of there. Getting paid was nothing compared to this. When the Mantis guy started to take a side it hit her how deep this was. She was getting involved in a war that she didn't want to be on either side of. There was no way she would side with the Children of the Emperor, she had morals. It was often believed that smugglers didn't have morals but she did and she would not compromise them in such a major way. Hesitantly, Aura stepped out of the corner and tried to edge towards the doors without anyone noticing. She managed to slide behind the stormtroopers and slide out without anyone reacting.

But she wasn't expecting the quantity of Stormtroopers waiting outside.
Name: Esme Cartwright
Appearance:

She has a scar cutting through her eyebrow and on ring in her right ear
Age/grade: 16
Power/mutation: She can channel electricity through her body and generate electricity in her hands. It takes a lot of energy to generate the electrical energy and her control is still shaky. She can sometimes drain the electricty from a device without intending to which can lead up to a build up of electrical energy in her body.
Medical considerations: If she creates electricty it can cause burns on her hands and if she accumulates too much energy it puts strain on her heart
Personality: She is quite sassy and sarcastic as a mask to hide her insecurities. She hates fighting with people but she will not stand by and be insulted or have her friends insulted. He temper is quite short so she tends to take long time to make friends but she is unwaveringly loyal when you earn her trust
History: Esme's elder sister could make things grow and when Esme was ten her sister was killed in a hate attack where they lived. Esme ran away to get away from the governments registration act and her parent's fear of her powers. She wasn't able to control them and so almost killed herself when she was running from the police and tried to override a door lock. After six years of living on the run and avoiding civilization, Esme stumbled upon the acedemy while running from the angry towns people.
Equipment: She has leather fingerless gloves that go everywhere with her so she doesn't accidentally drain energy systems.
Esme had been watching the school for a couple of weeks now. She had managed to hide from the townsfolk just outside of the school's grounds before she began to evaluate her choices. She was not one to throw herself into a situation without fully scoping it out first. Call her paranoid but that was why she was still unregistered and alive. She had been watching the limited number of students around and they all seemed relatively happy. Now masses more were arriving and she had a decision to make. If she was going to get in with only limited questions then it would be best to do it quietly and while they were busy. There were probably too many mutants there for her to live on the grounds without someone noticing and soon she would need to find somewhere to get more money and food. It was the turning point. Maybe walking in the front door wasn't the best idea, she would have to be registered and her parents contacted. They wanted nothing to do with her but they wouldn't want to have it known that their only respectable child was also a disgrace. She could sneak in while everyone was distracted, the locks would be no problem but going undetected would be. Maybe if she found a place far enough away from everyone and kept her mental signature unsuspicious then she would have enough time to spend their restocking and resting before heading out again. That was a plan. And if they found her she would be able to get away before the Mutant Task Force arrived to cart her back to that place she used to call home.

Esme shrugged her ratty old backpack on and slid through the bushes. Mingling with the crowds she managed to sneak through and with a quick scan of the building she found and entrance below ground level that had an obstructed view of the main doors. Pulling her glove off, she pressed her hand against the door scanning for electrical activity. There was the usual background humm but nothing major indicating there was not much use of whatever space was behind the door. With a quick pick of the lock she was inside and in a dark corridor. Thankfully it was empty behind the first door and looked like a lesser used store room, with a quick sigh of relief Esme slid her glove on and settled down on the floor of the room. It was cold but she had slept in colder, within minutes she drifted off into a light sleep.

Aura tried to keep her face passive all the way through the commander's speech but she knew the changes this would bring. If the top crime lords had the backing of the Imperials then they would rule. There would be no more lone Rangers, you would either be working for one of them or taken out of the game. And Aura was no going to have her life ruled over by these fools. She needed to get her ship, the White Dwarf, and get off planet side as soon as she was paid.

A look of shock flitted across her face as the New Republic was mentioned. Great, it was really started to get crowded around here and everything was going to go to hell if that Republic team managed to land. Somewhere deep in her blackening heart, Aura hoped they survived, not just for her personal gain but for all the people she left behind. But now she had a job to do, if her target died then she wasn't getting paid.
