Akira felt slightly apprehensive about replying to Sayuri, space time and water techniques in addition to swordplay? How could he follow that? He gave a very slight sigh before replying with a gesture to wooden sword. "Like yourself I use blades but I know several Taijutsu techniques as well." He ran his hand to his belt and unclipped a bag of smoke smoke bombs, holding them up for her to see. "I also use tools and traps quite a lot, people often underestimate their utilities." After a little while he added on what he didn't want to admit. "I don't have an especially advanced knowledge of Genjutsu or Ninjutsu so I'm afraid I don't have any stories about new techniques I'm working on." His voice had gradually lowered in both volume and tone, he turned his head away to watch their sides and hopefully avoid the judgemental looks that he'd received so many times in the past.
As he went quiet he listened to Hiroshi and Hirudora, if there really was an ambush ahead then the group would surely be facing both superior numbers and attacks from multiple sides. Akira began to have doubts, things were not going as he had hoped they would, he was unable to shrug off the feeling that he wouldn't be able to aid the team effectively. Even the Sensei's words, which he assumed were meant to be reassuring, were likely aimed at the other two and so provided little comfort.
They were getting close, Akira gripped the hilt of his blade tightly and began to scan the surroundings. Left and right, up and down. He was determined not to let the attackers get the drop on him, he would strike first, he would prove himself to his team and his first mission would be a success. "This is what we've trained for, this is our duty." He whispered quietly, controlling his breathing and calming himself and maintaining focus.
