Avvar Collective

Faction Name: Avvar Collective (A.C.)

Faction Type: Meritocratic Dictatorship

Species: Avrek(translates to "Child of Avvar") : The Avrek stand at a slightly taller than human 6" to 6"3 and tend to be substantially more heavy with a healthy individual of the species being 250 to 300 lbs. They have a skin-tone that ranges from light green to gray and pronounced lower teeth. As a whole the species is widespread but a recent dip in birthrates has troubled doctors and scientists. They also require a very specific atmosphere to breathe in and so in any trip away from their home world they must wear a complex respirator or suffocate.

Scale and Territory: Basic interstellar, They are in firm control of their solar system and have made three test runs to the closest star so far.
Planets they control:
Avvar(Translates to "One who Provides") : Homeworld and origin of the Avrek species, shares a binary orbit with the planet Kelvas. Has a much denser composition than Earth and so has a stronger gravitational pull. Also has a unique atmosphere based off of methane as opposed to Earths oxygen/nitrogen mix. Has three major continents Darvor in the east, Salva in the northwest and south of them is Freldan

Culture: The Avrek people value order and discipline at an almost religious level whether this is a result of the relatively recent civil war that had the Avrek in chaos for several decades is anyone's guess but, it is undeniable that Avrek society today puts a heavy emphasis on each member of the community finding and fulfilling their purpose. With a mentality such as this it is no surprise that the military is a popular form of employment and in fact all members of The Avvar Collective are expected to serve for a minimum of three years in at least one branch of the armed forces. While the Avrek from an outside perspective may seem brutish and simpleminded they only act after much deliberation and discussion. Young Arvek are tested to ascertain their aptitudes and to determine the best possible education path for them to take. After finishing introductory school Arvek choose an academy to join based on their optimal career paths and upon completion of their training in the chosen academy their compulsory service begins.

History:
The history of the Arvek is one of relative peace the Arvek inclination to more militaristic activities meant that after a relatively short series of wars the Arvek people quickly united as a whole. However their progress quickly met its greatest problem. During the short period of combat which would come to be called The Unification Wars a religion came into power known as the Cult of Seravat who preached a message of Arvek Supremacy and avid militarism. While at first the new world government ignored the Cult it quickly proved itself when it declared the entire continent of Darvor its "Holy Land" and demanded the forced relocation of the native "Heathens" in order to claim it. When the government denied the ridiculous request the Cult declared the entire government "Agents of Evil" and began advocating resistance and revolt.

After a few months of high tensions things came to a head when one morning Cult extremists stormed the offices of local administrators in Darvor and executed the staff. This kicked off a series of riots that caused hundreds of deaths and great damage to the major cities of Darvor. But it would not be until General Ralston Helgan and approximately 850,000 soldiers under his command executed any who would not join them and took control of a major army base in Darvor for the Cult and a period of civil unrest turned into an outright civil war.

It took six years for the Cult of Saravat to be defeated and by the end of it most of Darvor had been reduced to a bombed and destroyed wasteland. In total the Avvar civil war cost the lives of over a million Arvek with a staggering 87% estimated to have been civilian casualties. General Ralston Helgan was killed by members of his own Cult when he surrendered to A.C. forces. Many believed that the cult died with General Helgan but in reality it just moved into the shadows. In the wake of the civil war the world government underwent a sever restructuring and out of it came the current form of the Avvar Collective.

Technology:
Horizon Drive- The currently experimental engine that if it works will propel the Avrek into interstellar travel. By artificially creating a black hole the drive uses the particular radiation created by a black hole to propel itself through space at super-luminal speeds. It currently has only been used in three unmanned test runs two of which have ended in the destruction of the ship. Scientists are hopeful that with the success of the last mission a safe form of the travel will be available soon.

Fusion Propulsion- the current engine system used by interplanetary ships which uses controlled fusion reactions to propel themselves. Can reach the edge of the solar system in a few hours.

Laser Cannons- one of the newest innovations in weaponry developed by the Arvek these weapons fire high intensity beams of electrons capable of boiling metal away in seconds. However the power sources required to fire these weapons prohibits them from being used as anything other than implanted turrets or mounted onto a ship at least for now.

R.A.C.E. suits- Robotic Assist Combat Exoskeleton The pride and joy of the Avvar Armed Forces these 8" tall mechanical beasts wield a variety of weaponry and are capable of fighting when no normal soldier would be able.

Pen and paper RPGs can be difficult to form a group because they require a rather high amount of commitment and it can be even harder in rural areas.

"Righhhhht..." Gaul said as the priestess put her sword to his neck " Well my compatriots are discussing the issue with your mayor and I guess you could say i'm running reconnaissance." When she put her sword down he was a little relieved, Holy weapons were one of the only things that still bothered him and having a blessed sword so close was kinda scary. "I shall be setting up an advance guard and sending out some scouts, and as I was trying to say earlier any information on these creatures would be very useful."

As he spoke he began the short ritual necessary for him to raise his undead servants, Green energy beginning to form around him and coalesce in the staff before reaching a critical point he strikes the ground sending the energy pulsing into the ground. After a short delay eight skeletons wielding rusted blades pulled themselves from the earth around him. "Take up defensive positions around this gate" he commanded and his fighters obeyed turning and shambling to different spots around the entrance. "except for you two" he said to the two closest skeletons who stopped and turned and faced him. With a twist of his staff and a word of power the two skeletons exploded into a cloud of swirling ash and smoke that coalesced into the vague form of a wraith it's two pallid arms hanging limply. "I want you to scan the forest and find what you can about where these things have been coming from" He ordered the creature who nodded its affirmation and flew off in a swirl of darkness.

"You three front and center" he commanded another batch of skeletons over to him, when they arrived he uttered another word of power and made another gesture with his staff and the three skeletons crumbled into dirt before in their place arose from the earth the hulking armored form of a Grave-lord. "You will be taking the center point" Gaul told it "Let no enemy pass alive." The Grave-lord nodded its silent acceptance and moved in its slow methodical way to stand right next to where the priestess was.

Looking around at his handy work Gaul was satisfied the four defenders would be able to hold the gate easily with a little assistance and the wraith would give him a bead on Stitchenstein. Feeling a little knackered after all this summoning Gaul walked under the gate out of the rain and sat on the ground crossing his legs and began meditating, the closest to sleep he got now.

When Ekho finished her rant there was a Very long and Very awkward moment of silence that Gaul was absolutely relishing before he broke it. "Righhhht..." Gaul said as he began hurrying his skeleton out the door "I'm gonna go do some actual work while you lot waste time in Mayor Tardy's house" with that he shut the door behind him and began striding towards the town gate and the woman who until very recently had been responsible for defending this town.

When he arrived he found her standing guard at the gate and it was obvious she had been there awhile. "Hello ma'am I'm Gaul Keldran and i've been contracted to assist in the defense of your town" he opened "If it's not to much i'd like to know exactly what has been attacking this town the past few nights and anything else you might know about these creatures and their master"

Gaul saw her clothing and silently hoped she wouldn't try to smite him immediately, He had only dealt with holy magic once and it had been the first time since his turning that he had felt pain in all its horrid glory.
