Just finished my app! Just as a heads up I'm going to be in Prague from tomorrow until this Sunday so I'll have limited access to the internet. I'll keep checking my phone though and will reply when I can!

M O T I V A T I O N S ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ Rafael's main motivation is to make his grandfather proud. He was the one who got him just about every opportunity he's ever had and he wants to repay him back for this somehow. On top of this, he feels a need to "prove himself" to the world. He's felt like a nobody all his life and he wants to show that someone who comes from nothing like him can make a difference even if it's a small one. G O A L S ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ Rafael's main goal is to do well at school and earn a degree as simple as that sounds. It's not something he'd ever thought he'd be able to do and he wants to try his best to do it. The opportunity to potentially join H.I.T. is just the cherry on the cake. He understands that he'll never be able to use his skills the way he wants, so the prospect of using them as an agent to help others sounds like a dream he never knew he had. He's fed up with the way he and his fellow Hyperhumans have been treated, and he wants to be a good representation to hopefully change people's perspective.
A more personal goal of his throughout pretty much his whole life is to find a group that he 'belongs' in. He's never really had close friends who weren't hooligans and the death of his parents has always left him feeling like he's been missing something. He wants people he can trust and open up to. -

Rafael's life has always been one of making the best out of what he had. His mother unfortunately died in childbirth and his father with little support from those around him did the best to provide for Rafael on an electrician's salary and bring him up as best he could while also working a full time job. As a result, Rafael spent a lot of time at his grandfather's house, and even more time making trouble with his friends on the street. To say he was a "well-behaved child" would be a lie. He struggled to focus in school and was caught bunking off more than once. This pattern of behaviour carried on into his teens, when unfortunately his father was struck by a bus while crossing the road and died shortly after.
Rafael moved in with his only real family, his grandfather, and his behaviour only got worse. He'd often lash out in school, getting in fights and causing even more trouble than before. His grandfather, not someone to be a soft-touch when it came to bad behaviour, decided to formulate a plan. He saw a lot of himself in the young Rafael and did for him what his own father had done for him at that age - he enrolled him in a boxing gym. At first Rafael was apprehensive, but after weeks of being forced to go he began to find it as a great outlet for channelling his anger. Boxing, however was only a passing interest for Rafael, and he later evolved his skillset by joining an MMA gym much further away from his home. He would travel 1 hour there and back to his gym every day just for the opportunity to train. His grandfather had given him a purpose in life and it had changed his entire outlook on the world.
Of course, this led to a fledgling amateur series of fights by the time he was in his late teens. He didn't have the grades to waste time applying to university and didn't want to resign himself to a life of regular work, so this was his hail Mary chance to make something of himself and pay his grandfather back for everything he had done for him. Everything was going well until his last ever official MMA match. He was losing, and losing quite badly. There were no tricks, no cheats, no advantages involved - the guy was just better than him. Bloodied and bruised, he went into the final round feeling something had changed within him, and something had. His first punch broke his opponents collarbone and sent him flying backwards into the cage wall. This was luckily seen as a freak chance shot, but Rafael knew something was different.
Following much experimenting he confirmed his suspicions, he was far too strong for this to be natural, he was a Hyperhuman. He went to the only person he knew he could trust, and his grandfather surprisingly took it extremely well. He later explained that Rafael's grandmother was in fact a Hyperhuman, and he himself was surprised when their son wasn't.
This however, put Rafael's life plan in jeopardy. He couldn't keep competing knowing he had such an inherent advantage, and it was far too risky to fight in public knowing that one stray punch could reveal him as Hyperhuman. Instead, he picked up a trade, being an electrician like his father was, and resigned himself to a life of keeping his head down and not making waves. Suffice to say he was depressed with this sudden change in his life goals.
That is until a few years later, when his grandfather had gone to the effort of seeking out the PRCU and getting in contact on behalf of his grandson. Rafael was surprised, and it took a lot of convincing to get him to agree. In truth, a large part why he felt sheepish to go was because he didn't feel smart enough to get into any university, let alone the only one for Hyperhumans! He eventually agreed though, and spent the next year brushing up on his English before making the move to Canada.

Rafael has the ability of super strength. His muscles repair and enhance themselves far quicker than they damage themselves and as a result enable him to display superhuman feats like lifting and tossing a car at his current max exertion. He primarily uses this strength in tandem with his striking skills though, leading to a deadly combination of being able to hit accurately, powerfully, and with correct technique being paired with having the strength to smash through brick. His strength extended to all parts of his body, but are most prevalent in the parts he's used most in fighting, so his arms, legs, head, and shoulders.

At his current level Rafael can only lift up to a car in weight and it takes more than a few hits to break through walls or metals. A lot of stronger materials he'd only be able to dent or bend with great exertion. He also does not have an infinite pool of energy and while feats of strength are considerably easier for him, this doesn't mean they take less effort in relation to his peak strength.

Rafael doesn't have any defensive capabilities as a result of his power and is as vulnerable to anything as a normal human would be if not wearing protective clothing. His main weakness in relation to his power is overexertion which can occur when pushing his strength passed it's limits. This results in exhaustion or even injury if pushed too far. Currently the worst injury he's received as a result of this was a broken arm, but the limits for injury are boundless and very much related to the action being performed at the time of injury.

Y O U A W A K E I N T H E D E A D O F N I G H T, W H A T W O K E Y O U?
Rafael's eyes glanced around the room as the interviewer began her series of questions. He'd never been for a proper interview before and he was sure there must have been some etiquette he was missing here. Did he answer truthfully and potentially ruin his chances with his less than polite approach to most things? Or did he lie and possibly get caught in the lie?
"Mr. Prado?" The interviewer's voice woke Rafael up like an alarm. He jolted up straight in his seat for a moment before settling and scratching his beard. "Oh, um, what would wake me up in the night?" He took a moment to think again rubbing the side of his face with his palm. Touching his face had evolved from a nervous tick into something he did when put on the spot. "Well back in Alicante we used to live near the port right? So around the middle of every month-"
Rafael often spoke with his hands, he was holding his right hand out flat and twisting it up and down slightly as if to signal he wasn't quite sure of the exact date. "- this big tanker shipment would come in from overseas right? And I'm telling you these guys had no regard for a guy getting a good nights sleep! Every month it was the same, they would blow that damn horn anytime they pleased!" He made a pulling down motion with his hand, miming a ship captain pulling the horn as he made the noise with his mouth. "It was so annoying! You'd think they'd change their schedule or someth-"
Rafael noticed himself rambling, being truthful was one thing, but he was sure this interviewer had no interest in the shipping schedule of Spanish ports. He gathered himself quickly, cutting off that line of conversation before succinctly ending with "Sorry, so either the ship or my alarm if I was working the night shift." He smiled, seemingly happy with his answer. A D I S H E V E L E D S T R A N G E R A P P R O A C H E S Y O U A S K I N G F O R H E L P, H O W D O Y O U R E S P O N D?
This question caught Rafael slightly off guard. He sat up, straightening his trousers and bringing a knuckle to his mouth in thought. After a few seconds he looked up at the woman sat opposite. "I'm sorry, but what does dishevelled mean? I am not so sure." Rafael didn't feel insecure asking for English clarifications. His confidence in speaking a second language was quite high, it's just every now and then he needed a hand. If anyone had a problem with it that was on them anyway. the interviewer gazed up for a second, tapping her pain on the table before answering. "Like untidy...or messy?" "Oh!" He replied, a smile returning to his face once more. "Well as much as a guy like me can't relate to being 'dishevelled' I'm not sure why that should affect the help I give the fella or not?" His cocky demeanour refused to allow him not to joke about his own appearance. He adjusted himself in his chair, putting an elbow on the desk in front and leaning forward. "I've met a million better men wearing clothes they found on the street than I ever have guys in expensive suits with nice watches. My answer is that I'd help the man definitely!"
A N I N T R U D E R A L A R M H A S B E E N S E T O F F O N C A M P U S, H O W D O Y O U R E A C T?
For once in the line of questioning, Rafael didn't need time to think. He let out a small laugh before answering. "Look, I really wanna get into this school. But if there's one thing I ain't it's a liar. I'm gonna tell you the truth here and I know the right answer is the opposite. You probably want to hear me say that I'd follow instructions, go to my dorm and sit with my fingers in my ears." His smile turned into a smirk, his confidence was his greatest ally and worst enemy. "But I'm going to be honest with you, there ain't a man alive who's put me on my ass yet and I don't believe there's one who could. If someone's gonna come here and cause trouble, stop me from learning how to be a functional member of society?" He pressed his hand to his chest in fake shock, his answer was the truth but it didn't mean he couldn't have some fun with it. "Then I'm afraid I'm going to have to teach them a lesson they won't soon forget." The conversation hung in the air for a beat before Rafael spotted another opportunity to tease the interviewer. "And what better place to learn a lesson than Pacific Royal? Why I think I'd be offered a job after the class I'd teach!"

Rafael is 6 foot tall and has a well built physique, with broad shoulders and a body built less for appearance and more for use in the cage. He takes pride in his appearance in all aspects, not to say he's vain, just that he likes looking good. His hair is dark black and it's only very irregularly that he lets his hair grow out. He also sports a full beard, which he on occasion shaves into a moustache when he's feeling daring - or just when he wants to shock his friends by showing up with one and not saying anything beforehand.
Rafael's style could be described as skater mixed with sporty. He likes brands like Obey and BAAPE among others and often styles a good pair of trousers with a football top or something similar. A staple outfit of his is a baggy t-shirt, cargo trousers and a necklace.
He dislikes any uniform really due to never having had to wear one before. He tries to skirt around the school uniform as much as possible, often carrying the blazer rather than wearing it and rolling up the sleeves of the shirt.

Confidence and cockiness often overlap when it comes to Rafael's personality. He does everything with 100% assuredness or at least pretends to and definitely lets you know about it. This has benefits and drawbacks though, it definitely makes him much more brave than he used to be, but maybe to the point of stupidity at times. He has that innate belief a lot of young people do that he is almost invincible, and hasn't had a near brush with death or major injury to bring him back to reality. This makes him prone to doing stupid things in an effort to impress those around him or just make them laugh.
Rafael takes a lot of his personality from his grandfather, almost imitating him in some aspects. One major part of both their personality is their humour. Rafael is someone who likes to laugh and make those around him laugh. He's always got a horrible dad joke up his sleeve, and enjoys playfully teasing his friends and bantering back and forth.
He often takes a 'big brother' approach to a lot of his relationships, especially with those considerably younger than him. Since training from a young age he'd often have taken on responsibility for helping newer people or younger bullied kids who showed up to learn to fight, and this attitude has extended into many other portions of his life. Despite maybe not giving the best advice, he's always there to try and give it whenever he thinks it's needed, and is fiercely protective of those around him. This plays into one of the less attractive aspects of his personality - his brashness and anger.
When you get Rafael angry it can often be hard to calm him down despite his usual sunny demeanour. It also makes him prone to making even more rash decisions in the heat of the moment, putting himself in danger either to protect someone or just to get revenge for a perceived slight.
He's definitely someone who is easy to befriend, but hard to fully get to know. He'll chat to you about anything, but often avoids certain personal questions or gives vague non-answers. He barely ever speaks about his parents, and has a hard time revealing weakness.

Rafael was an amateur MMA fighter in a previous life and still keeps up his training to this day. His style was well rounded, but he focused much more on striking and had a fluid Muay Thai style incorporating technical kicks and elbows. Furthermore, he has a good knowledge of wrestling and is a purple belt in BJJ.

Rafael is perfectly capable of telling good jokes, he just often chooses not to. He has a seemingly endless supply of awful dad jokes and puns stored in his head, and takes much more pleasure in a groan of anguish than a laugh at his jokes.

Rafael's grandfather and of course, his namesake. "Rafa" as he's affectionately known, grew up in a very different world, and made his way as a boxing prize fighter and later a plumber after he contracted Parkinson's and had to stop fighting. His wife was Hyperhuman and as a result he has a great deal of sympathy for Hyperhuman's and does anything he can to help those around him. His grandson is like a son to him, he would do anything for him without even so much as a 'thank you' being needed in return. He currently resides in Alacante.▅ ▅ ▅ ▅ ▅ ▅ ▅ ▅ ▅
Hey! Great video. I also make fan music videos on youtube! Just as a word of advice I'm not sure what software you're using but if you enable "Stretch to fill frame" and disable "Maintain output aspect ratio" the video will fill the whole frame rather than having the letterbox format. I also tend to get my source footage by pirating the full film from piratebay usually as an MKV file and then using Handbrake to convert that into an MP4 so I can use it with Sony Vegas. This keeps the framerate up and stops it from looking choppy while also maintaining full quality and makes it look a bit better when stretched out of the original output ratio. Again really cool video I hope my advice doesn't come off as criticism!!
