These characters are only a handful of fluff and a "collection of abilities," are they not?

Is it possible that these guys are just saying things that they don't fully mean? Saying things because they think they're supposed to? Saying these things to fit in with the others who also have no better reason to speak than to also fit in?

They don't permanently "kill" them. They just adjust the lore and disable the champs for a week or so. That's what they did when Gangplank died during the Bilgewater event anyway.
